i have a macbook, and no it's not hard to use. it just takes some getting used to if you've been using a PC all of your life.

My parents have a 15 inch MacBook Pro , and I have to say that I pretty much like it. I have used a 12 inch MacBook before, and they are pretty much like any other Mac laptop I have used.

I like my ThinkPad a lot more than any Mac laptop I have ever used. They are built like a rock, and pretty much PWN.

yeah, i have a macbook. i'm about to get a mac mini cause the dell desktop crashed. clap.gif
they only take some getting used to. especially the no-right click and using the apple key instead of the control key. but they're really user friendly. at least, more user friendly than windows computers. p:

What are you taking about? There is a right-click button. Go get a mouse that has right click. I use a Logitech laptop mouse (V400? I forget what model it was) and I right-click all the time.

Also if you go to system preferences, you can set it so that if you tap with two fingers (not two finger scroll, which scrolls the page up and down) it right clicks. It's that easy. ^^;; You never knew? :P

I own a macbook. My half-sister wanted a new computer, so I went to the apple store in my city and purchased the New Imac. It's pretty sleek, but she's still os x tiger, which we prefer over leopard anyway.

They are a little bit more expensive than some pc laptops (i.e. Dell Vostro lol), but pretty good. I did have to reformat once, within the past 6 months (got mines end of July), but only because my preferences would never save. So I backed up all my stuff, reformatted (A MUCH FASTER INSTALLATION THAN WINDOWS!), and reinstalled. It was kinda cool because I got to the the 3-d effect when I first install. Mmmm oishii... =X

Difficult to use? NO. It's not hard at all. I mean, it comes with an instruction booklet, and even then I didn't use it. And there's a website that has various tips on how to use it, like mac tips of the day.

I love my macbook, and I can't even begin to tell you what I like the most about it. If I had to pick a couple of things, I would say spotlight and the trackpad. :)

I don't at all think it's hard to use. I actually say that a lot of new mac users try to overcomplicate things.

And, Adobe CS (Creative Suite) was originally created for macs.

Their not hard to use, the thing about Macs is that you can't customize every little thing about them like you can with PC's (If you know what your doing anyway). I was going to get a mac, but I changed my mind in the long run. Believe me, Macs are dummy proof, you'll get use it, and if you don't understand something then you must not be good with technology at all. If your going to get a mac though, get a macbook pro. They're one of the best laptops out right now.

I will point you out on something, I have reinstalled Mac OSX Leopard multiple times on my parents laptop because of a memory error Apple refuses to admit and fix. From what I have found, on the Mac it takes WAY longer than Vista to install on my ThinkPad, ridiculously longer.

Thats just my experience though. Also, to those who claim Macs DO NOT CRASH, they are complete liars. They crash, and when they do, they crash HARD. Not to say Windows does not either, but you can always get anything on a Windows PC back if you know what you are doing, unless the hard drive completely dies, which thats a hardware problem, not Windows.

Which ultimately it is your money, you can get the same in a laptop running Windows as you would on a Mac for MUCH less. Also, Leopard is not resource friendly as many people say it is. Its not as bad as Vista, but its not ass good as XP or Tiger.

A dual core laptop with the proper amount of memory will run Vista well, no questions asked. My ThinkPad has 2.5 gigs of ram and Intel Centrino Duo, and I have never had it freeze or crash any of my applications running Vista Home Premium.

what i meant was that there's no physical button beneath the trackpad, and that you have to use the shortcut of using 2 fingers or you have to press the control key while you click. and i don't really want an extra mouse because i usually use my laptop on my bed or on my lap, but thanks for the suggestion. :D

Well my take on this is that it shouldn't matter that there is a button or not, for right-clicking. Two taps of the finger is not going to make much of a difference. Oh yes and there are mouses you can buy that can run on various surfaces. My bf has a logitech vx revolution for his laptop and it runs so seamlessly that I often use it when I'm on the bed, despite the squishy surface. No problem on the suggestion. Just helping out a fellow mac-owner. wink.gif

medic - Oh whoops I forgot that add that I ONLY USE MAC OS X TIGER. I'd rather not deal with Leopard as it is still new with a lot of bugs. It's also much slower with running, unless you're overclocking or download some patches. OS X Tiger took a shorter amount of time to install than Windows XP (Professional). I am not even going to bother with Leopard until maybe a year later as it does not concern me. As for Vista, I know a couple of people who still have not converted because it also has a lot of bugs. Ultimately it depends on how well you know how to work around Vista and/or Leopard. I apologize for not clarifying that I was speaking of Tiger and XP.

At home, I have a HP laptop, Windows Vista. At school, they ONLY use Mac computers. I like how Mac computers look but it's a bit confusing for me because I've been using Windows for... ever. Plus they are super expensive, but that's because theres lots of programs already installed into the computer, AKA slow performance. It's your choice. I would actually buy a Mac, but I'm so broke. -_-

Um... if a lot of programs are running ON ANY COMPUTER, of course it will slow down. yea I've been using windows forever, but I started using macs back junior year in high school. I still barely knew anything, but it was still really easy, imo. I mean, there's not much you have to navigate through anyways. But I guess if you are too used to the "start" button to navigate to programs, it can get confusing, lol.

Sulfur - well, it's understandable. Depends on preferences. But I wouldn't mind switching back to PCs. I'd still use a mac sometimes though. Just because I like the bouncy icons in OS x. :D

I have an iBook, and I was thinking of getting a Mac Pro before I go to grad school in the fall, but I'm kind of getting sick of some things about Mac OS X. Right now, I'm leaning more towards a Sun Ultra 24, which is comparable to the Mac Pro but about $800 cheaper, all said and done. I'd probably run Linux on it (maybe Debian or Fedora Core, I haven't decided -- probably Debian; or maybe Gentoo, I dunno...).

Since I'm doing some volunteer work at my high school, they're going to put it on my computer for free. All their computers have it so I dunno Apple gave them some kind of deal. There's no way I would be able to get it!
