Sorry, I like to be positive, but this shit pisses me off.

Processing Details for Your Return
Updated: 1/11/2008
Article ID: 5182

Because Congress was late this tax year passing some legislation related to the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT), the IRS has let us know it expects a delay in processing some tax returns and refunds, including returns affected by the AMT and returns for people claiming the Hope and Lifetime Learning and the Home Energy credits.

If you are in this situation, you will be receiving your refund later this year. The IRS has targeted Feb. 11 as the date it will begin processing these returns. It usually takes 1 or 2 days for the IRS to process and accept (or reject) your returns, and longer for some states.

That means if you’re receiving a refund, you should expect to receive it in 9-14 days from the day your return is accepted (if you chose direct deposit) or 3-4 weeks from the day your return is accepted (if you are receiving a check.

So in other words, if you're a tax payer you get penalized for late returns but if you're f**king congress you get to say I'm sorry.

ASSHATS

Ok, I'm done.

Adequate government officials?

By the way, I realize that some of these tax issues are beneficial to certain individuals, just frustrated that it takes so long for these decisions to be made.

Oh and a Canadian friend of mine told me that the Canadian government at least pays daily interest and sends you some form (T-4?)so you can claim it the next year (or something like that).
