So I had my umpteenth blood test today to check for anaemia and fatigue syndome...ah what a sickly moderator I am.

Anyway, I've heard that there are two types of people. Those that can watch the needle puncture their skin; and those that can't.

Personally, I love watching the needle go in and the blood spurt; but my boyfriend near passes out if he tries it. What are you guys like?

Yeah, I (usually) always watch when the needle goes in, but sometimes, I get too scared and look the other way and shut my eyes.

I don't like needles at all, so I usually try not to watch the needle go in when I get blood tests or have shots administered on me. Sometimes I still look anyway; it's a kind of sickened fascination that pulls my eyes to the needle. xD

I can't watch it at all.
I don't like it when long, sharp objects puncture my skin into my veins.
It scares me sad.gif

that is seriously weird. because today I had the exact same test done for the same thing. cool

It depends on whose in the room. If my mom was in the room, me being humerous, say hey mom look! I watch it and she ewws etc.

Today though no one special was in the room, and I didnt watch. It didnt matter if I did or not, just random. But after its in I watch it.

When I was anemic I would have to go in every three months for blood tests. When I was a kid I would scream when I would get my shots, and the first few times I had to get a blood test I would get really nervous, but afterwards I got used to it and it didn't bother me at all. A few times I had a hot (guy) nurse, that always makes it easier wink.gif

Well, sometimes I watch, but now I don't because I got dizzy from the nurses making mistakes on my veins, because I have tiny veins, so I nearly fainted and felt sick afterwards.

I got tested for anemia and fatigue syndrome too!

...I ended up having mono though. stubborn.gif

I always watch the needle go in. I hate it and it (kinda) hurts, but I think not watching makes it worse.

I watch, and afterwards. I ask if can get another lolly pop. And they try to make me flinch by saying they have to draw blood again, and I respond with "go head, I'm a crack headed doner. look at all these needle marks on my arm!"

I think blood tests are the worst, and unfortunately you must get them done for what I want to do. I am dreading having to take one, because they draw blood for like 3 or 4 minutes, but it seems like they are doing it for hours.

I'm okay if I see, but I look away anyway. The sight of blood doesn't bother me, but if I look than I'm likely to think it hurts more than it does.

i can't look. i really realyl hate needles. i used to think it was normal when i was a kid. i used to get shots all the time cuz i traveled ALOT out of the country with my mom. but then as i got older i have to spend time in school and once in awhile i get shots when i go to some thirdworld country or something and i hate it. i just keep thinking that there's a bubble of air in the tube and then when they give me the shot the air bubble will get in my blood stream and kill me. i know sounds crazy. just thinking about shots gives me phantom pains or something.

hahha i love it! (is that weird?) it's cool because they put the little tube thingy on the end, and it spurts into it.. tehhe cool XD and i got tested for a buncha that stuff. but turns out my blood was fine and i just have weird chemical imbalance in my brain. mono test hurts a gajillion times worse than normal test, though.. yowch. in the finger.

Makes me sick but I'm fine with other people getting blood drawn.

I've had to have my blood taken regularly for the past few years.

I've never gotten used to having blood tests until recently, and I still can't watch. I don't react too kindly to having the blood sucked out of me. I scream like you would never believe. Nurses have to pin me down.

I'm a little calmer these days.

I don't mind having needles poke my vein. I noticed that if you "try" to feel the needle, it's gonna hurt. But if you just ignore the existence of pain, you can actually watch it (almost like slow motion) without fearing pain. I like to watch because it amazes me how fast blood pours right into the vile lol

I also look away >< I recently had a blood test done for my psychiatrist, and my mom had to hold my head the other direction so I didn't see the needle penetrate the skin, though I did feel it everytime a tube was taken out and another one was put in in its place.

Afterwards, I stared at the blood in the tubes while I got unbelievably light headed and dizzy... and eventually I fainted, lol.

It's recommended that if you don't see that kind of stuff, you'll remain calm and won't go crazy and hyperventilate or do some other trash. For people with abdominal wounds, we're told to turn their heads to the side because I'm sure they don't want to see their guts hanging out.

Same principle.
