I don't think Myspace has a technical group.

What's the most amount of work you've ever lost because of a slow connection or a crappy server?

I'd be interested to know if your reaction to said loss is as foul-mouthed as mine. My poor computer. Bastard electronic child of a Sinclair ZX81 is a mild repremand for losing my entire layout.

one time, i wrote a REALLY long comment. actually, it just had a lot of breaks. but there was a lot of writing involved, too. there were even some pics. and THEN....this happened:

Sorry! an unexpected error has occurred.

This error has been forwarded to MySpace's technical group.

ARGH!

The ENTIRE layout? Poo. :[

I do agree with the "no technical group" statement. Xanga is good about getting back to you with answers, but Myspace is a completely different story. It makes me wonder why everyone loves it so much.

I also lost all the coding for a layout. So yeah.. I had to re-do the whole thing. I was so angry and frustrated that I started laughing about it...

So now, whenever I code something or write a comment, I copy and paste it into Notepad.. just in case.

I lost an excel spreadsheet that have event invites on them. Needless to say, IT was able to figure it out and help me.

I've written a whole page to a friend and the unexpected error made me lose it. Gosh it made me upset. Sometimes I try to refresh and see if I can get it back. Sometimes it works and sometimes it don't.

I found this on mashable.com amd it does warrant a giggle:

Reasons to delete your Myspace.

QUOTE
1. You rarely log in to Myspace except to delete spam friend requests from nude webcam girls.

2. You spend five minutes writing a wall post only to hit an error message when you try to post it because of all the website glitches.

3. You’re a girl who constantly gets marriage proposals from random men in the middle east.

4. You visit someone’s Myspace profile only to suddenly have music start blasting out of your speakers. Bonus points if it happens to you while you’re at work.

5. You have to make redundant clicks to perform simple tasks because Myspace keeps taking you to advertisement pages where you have to click on “return to myspace profile” in order to continue what you’re doing.

6. You visit someone’s profile only to have your eyes bleed because of terrible page layout with non-matching designs and font colors.

7. Your experience is hindered because of intrusive banner ads that either talk to you or try to reach out and block your view of what you’re trying to look at.

8. You read yet another news account about how some child predator using Myspace has abducted a little girl or that some hoax myspace account has caused a teenager to commit suicide.

9. You’re frustrated with the fact that Myspace doesn’t allow you to post your contact info, meaning to contact someone you can only use Myspace’s glitchy Instant Messenger, message/email system, or wall commenting.

10. You’re tired of seeing Tom stare out at you from millions of friends lists and just wish he would change his f**king profile picture.

I don't really have that problem with myspace.
Whenever I do get an "unexpected error", I backspace to the previous page, and try to do whatever I was doing again (ie: posting a comment, bulletin, editing my profile, etc.) and hold down on my mouse an extra second to make sure it goes through. Works for me.

As for other stuff, if for whatever reason my laptop is being laggy, I just quit the application & open it up again. And I used to never save my work periodically and lose it, but I've learned from it. Finally, haha.

I haven't been able to stand myspace from day one, which is why I barely ever used it. I really couldn't care less about Tom or anything, but I am offended by people's lack of design and music taste. If I'm listening to music (which I nearly always am if I'm online), I certainly don't want it ruined because someone else's shit has started playing as well. I also don't like dealing with people's awful looking pages that take 15 years longer than I ever want to have to wait for to load. You may think you're expressing yourself, but really you're just making us hate you. The layout is ugly and takes a while to load no matter what has been done to it, though. But if I were to list everything I dislike about myspace, it would be a very long list.

Facebook apps suck. Myspace sucks way more.

It's pathetic. But you can just click the back button. mellow.gif

The most work I ever lost was like, last week. I think it happened once before that too. I was working on my website and lost one of my entire pages (the header part) and so I had to do that over.

GOD YES. The back button completely saves ass sometimes.

But I would have to say when I change my layouts. It`s rare, but it usually happens. mad.gif

Why does my back button insist on wiping everything then? laugh.gif

I rarely use Myspace now - or surf Xanga for that matter. I'm sick of seeing bad layouts and be forced to listen to even worse music where you can't find the cunningly designed widget in order to turn it off again!
