It was so hilarious last night (first night) when that Star Wars girl got thrown off. LOL, she was so stupid, crying about how they didn't take her because she wasn't all pop star ish and crap...

IT'S CAUSE YOUR DRESSED LIKE A WEIRDO!!!

I'm watching it right now. But yesterday, when that guy with all the body hair came on, I was eating. It was the worst timing...ever.

I can't believe Simon said yes to this crazy-insane-rcokerchick-ADD girl.

Simon has the easiest job in the world. All I'd have to do is get down the English accent and rub my boobs like he does and I'd be good to go. Pretty much anyone who makes the cut onto the show gets offered a record deal.

Same. we spend so much time watching deluded psychofreaks that we don't see half the top 24, and they don't stand a chance.

I am, however, really excited by this year's Top 24! SO much better than last year, methinks...

Liking Michael, David Cook, Ramielle, Amanda, Asia'h and, God help me a little, Danny.

So, funny story, my favorite so far turns out to be from Rowlett, Texas, and one of the flute players at my school went to high school there. He's the same age as us so she like.. knows him.

I'm gonna miss AI tonight, btw, I have to go to a recital after I get off work. *grumbles*

Hes really good, him and ramiele but she keeps picking old songs.

I am scared if he gets famous though, hes only 17 but being famous might bite him in the butt. there are rumors around this kid, and i really hope that media is gentle with him because hes so young. I am not going to say anymore but i just hope the media is sincere.

Anyway. I adored the theme, I love that it's coming back...

I lovedlovedloved Brooke and David Cook this week... Carly was cool too. I may be alone in the universe, but I just do not GET David Archuleta. Guy can sing, hell yeah, no denying, but I don't think he's anything different or new.

Am I the only person who thinks David Archuleta looks like (a MUCH better-looking version of) Zac Efron?

Don't get me wrong, I love the little guy... he's just looks so cute and innocent! And he can sing too! But every time he smiles, I see a hint of that stupid Zac Efron in him.

Kristy sucks and the way she dances is really annoying. At least Amanda's gone.

I'm rooting for David Archuleta. I think the pickings are slim on the women's side.

David Cook's not bad, but he reminds me of every other new 'rock' artist out there. He's nothing special.

The person I'm really rooting for is Ramiele Malubay. For such a cute and tiny person, she has an amazingly strong voice.

I think I like David Cook so much because he's the closest to my music style. Once he gets the chance to go off on his own without the show, he'll develop his own uniqueness; it's true with all of them. He's really the only one out of them all who I would actually go see in concert and buy his CDs.

Ramiele is good. She's probably my favorite of the girls.

It wasn't his own way.
He covered Chris Cornell's version of BIllie Jean.

It wasn't his own way.
He covered Chris Cornell's version of BIllie Jean.

Oh, really? My bad. I had no idea. I just thought David Cook did it wonderfully. And the judges kept saying he was 'brave'...eh, whatever.

Billie Jean isn't the first song whose cover he copied from someone else, that's his schtick. Copy another artist's rendition and accept praise and adulation for its originality. Clearly, it's working well for him.

A guy will definitely will this year and it won't be a youngin' either though I like David A. I just don't want it to be Castro or Cook. Mediocrity shouldn't prevail. Someone who sings well should win. I have no beef with rock male voices though, Chris Cornell being one of them. David is no Chris. David's no Chris Daughtry either. laugh.gif

I didn't actually stick around for this season of A.I., but I'm kinda disappointed that an asian finally made it to the finals and she isn't all that good. well, she's not bad but she's not great.

Well, that's kind of a redundant criticism seeing as how he a) has no control over what people say in praise of him, and b) acknowledged before and after he performed that it was Cornell's version he was covering.

Also, I fail to see how you can want to avoid mediocrity and still support David Archuletta, who is the height of dull.

Mmmm Chris Daughtry. <3
Well, honestly, truthfully, American Idol ISN'T a singing competition. Simon says that all the time. Just because you have an awesome voice doesn't mean you know how to work a crowd or perform well. Brooke White's voice is spectacular, I think, (but then again I know nothing about voice), but the time she tried to move around she got bad reviews.

Cook's performances (I know I know, not his, you know what I mean), are exciting and make you want to watch the rest of it.
I love Jason Castro because he's precious, but I zone out halfway through all of his songs. pinch.gif

David A. won't be able to win, because I'm going to steal him. wub.gif

That's so true. I almost couldn't watch when she performed "Here Comes The Sun".

NO. KIDDING. I don't know if I can handle another f**king week of her horrible "interpretive" spins on songs.

I miss this topic last year when people didn't just post "I like this person!" and nothing else. We used to post full-on reviews of the performances. xD

Also David A. is boring and his spazzy "OMG Didja mean it?! I'm so glad you liked it!!" act at the end is like nails on a chalkboard. His voice isn't THAT great, he's not that good looking, he's incredibly precocious, and American Idol wants him to win. For those reasons, I can't stand the kid.

For Dani:

Okey doke, here is my big Country Night review (having youtubed all the performances, so this'll be in the order that I watched them, not necessarily in the order of broadcast/order of preference)

Let me start by saying that overall, I actually liked tonight quite a lot more than most other country nights, simply because I think this year's batch is a lot more adept at adapting the material to suit them, so it's less 'deer in a headlights' than this week can be.

Also, someone upped Paula's crack doseage this week, because she is simply round the bend.

A vague disclaimer before we begin, by the way: I make no claim to any musical expertise, so don't look for me to critique them on sharp or flat notes or whatever malarky you crazy kids are into. On the bright side, you won't have to hear the word 'pitchy' every 30 seconds. Furthermore, I'm no Dolly Parton expert. Before I saw these performances, the only songs I knew were Jolene and I Will Always Love You (and that was the Whitney version), so these are my honest 'what I like' reviews, nothing technical, ok? Cool

Anyway.

Michael
Well, he can totally sing, and the guy has come on a mile in the last two weeks. I didn't like it as much as last week, simply because I thought his song choice was so bang on then, and I'm not that familiar with Dolly Parton's repetoire, but yeah. Safe as hell and deservedly so.

David A.
Yeah, guy can sing. Next?

Ok, in all seriousness, WHAT is this obesession about? He is just so absolutely BORING! Every performance is the same, balladballadballad, dorky smile, moneynotemoneynotemoneynote, dorky smile, blahblahblah: Kid will release an album, have one mildly successful ballad and then be consigined to bargain bins. Waste of a potential winner here.

Brooke
She is just the nicest person in the world, now isn't she? The charm that other people seem to get from Archuleta, I see in spades in Brooke.

As far as this performance goes, I think we need to sound the air raid sirens and prepare for the apocalypse, because I'll be darned if I don't agree with Paula. I thought she had a nice connection with the song, and it was miles better than the last upbeat attempt she made, and this is from someone who didn't actually hate her version of 'Here Comes The Sun'

Love this girl, though.

Jason
My favourite performance of his in a long time! Possibly because he isn't singing a song which requires some degree of foreign language skills, but who would have thought singing in words you actually understand would be a bonus?

He won't win in a million years, but this was something I think his fans will enjoy, and there's no way he'll be in danger after last week's scare.
David C.
I love this guy. Serious mancrushage. Only his voice though, because I can no wonly visualize those horrifying baby alien photos of him from last week. Plus, he has one of those little tufty beards grown for pleasuring girls. ANYWAY.

I kind of see where Simon was coming from about not being as good as last week, but I must disagree. I thought it was nice to see him do something a tad less theatrical and a little more... I don't really have a word, but it reminded me a lot of his Eleanor Rigby which I also adored, so there you go. This guy should win.

Syesha
The song choice was nauseatingly predictable. Seriously, seriosuly irritating.

That said, I actually liked this a whole lot more than I was prepared to. She kept it simple in the beginning, and she does have just a lovely tone to her voice which made this memorable where Ramiele just wasn't. Of the two belting girls, I wouldn't have put my money on Syesha coming into the Top 12, but after this, I hope I'm wrong.

Bad hair though. Very bad.

Ramiele
Oh, my. Ok, I'm not a giant myself, so this isn't a slur, but MIDGETS SHOULDN'T WEAR THINGS WITH A HIGH WASTE. Did she learn NOTHING from last week's debacle? Lucky she has a pretty face, really.

Anyway. Stumpy the eighth dwarf has just sang her last song on AI, which is a shame, because it wasn't very good. Honestly, I haven't the faintest idea what she sang, because I got bored enough after 30 seconds to open a new tab and start searching for Carly. It's SUCH a waste, because she has a gorgeous voice, she just stubbornlyrefuses to actually sing well. The biggest let down contestant of Season 7.

Bye.
Carly
I like her so much when I'm not looking at her. Not because of her tatoos or anything, but simply because I think that out of all the contestants, it's Carly by a MILE who is worst at conecting with the songs. If you watch the performances, it's like she is so focussed on sounding good that she just sings things one line at a time, and then moves on to the next note. It's not a song so much as a succession of pretty noises. And they are pretty, don't get me wrong, it's just that I wish she would let go a little and have some fun.

As far as this specific performance, I think I'm in the minority here, but I didn't like it as much as last week. It ws another one that I can't really remember that well, probably because of the lack of emotion.

Kristy Lee
Oh, go away. She just isn't on a par with the others. She wasn't bad; Simon was right, it was pleasant enough, but she just doesn't cut it anymore. Sadly, I don't think she's going anywhere. However, I did like the song, though, so points for that.

---

There we have it. A good night, I feel, although who pissed in Simon's Cheerios this morning? Normally I like him, but I felt more in touch with Randy tonight. How odd.

Yeah. To sum up, I thought Dave Cook, Michael, and Brooke were the big winners, with Jason and Syesha not far behind, then Carly. David A comes next, simply because no matter how much I don't care for him, he can sing, and then Ramiele and Kristy.
In terms of the Bottom 3, I'm pretty sure Ramiele is going to be in there somewhere, and I'd also go with Carly as a second choice, just because I think she's slipping, although she may still survive based on post-Overmeyer votes going her way... For a third person, I find it hard to call this one, but I'll go ahead and say that it's a toss up between Kristy and Syesha, simply because there is a lot of talent going on. Wouldn't be too surprised if it was Brooke though, but she doesn't deserve it, and won't go home... Ramiele will.

Over and out.

JAMES THIS IS AMAZING. <33

I pretty much agree with you for most of the night, and I thought Brooke did pleasantly well when I'll admit I don't normally like her. She's sweet enough, but I thought her version of "You're So Vain" and whatever she sang last week (when she sounded totally vulnerable up until the band came in) were both awful.

I also don't get David Archuleta. He's not interesting, and he's talented but not enough to make up for how incredibly BORING he is!

Jason Castro has been scaring me the last couple of weeks. I also don't expect him to win but I would hate to watch the show if he wasn't on it, so I'm glad he had a good performance last night. :)

Poor Ramiele. We all KNOW she can sing, but just the way you explained it, she consistently refused to sing WELL. It's like she was thinking too hard about it and trying to come across as having a strong voice. Sadly, tonight when she was crying she sang better than she had in a while - she pulled it back a bit and that's what she needed to do.

Well I've been watching American Idol since the first season. I like it a lot because I love music and I love it when girls can sing. Last season I thought Blake was really interesting because of his style, but this season there's David Cook. I love the way he makes the songs his own style. It's really cool that it ended up being the two Davids.

Well I made this topic to see what you guys think. Who Will Win?

I'd say if it was a competition for performance David Cook Wins, but if it's about who's the better singer its David Archuleta. I think that Archuleta will win because of all the girl fans. I think he's amazing, but to tell the truth, I would listen to Cook's music rather tham Archuleta's. Those Are My Thoughts.

I don't follow AI religiously, but I did check out some videos of the last couple finalists and I must say that DAVID ARCHULETA IS SUCH DISNEY MATERIAL. his voice just screams radio disney pop songs and unfortunately it doesn't stand out. I'm not in love with Cook but at least he took some chances with his songs and is at least DIFFERENT. So just between the two, I'd take Cook over Archuleta any day.

Wow, my mom said the exact same thing esp. about Archuleta being perfect for the Disney Channel...either way he will do well but he def. wasn't meant to be AI...he sings too many ballads; he doesn't have a lot of versatility...cook can sing pop, rock, & ballads & he's more appealing to the older crowd who's going to be buying the albums...
