http://gizmodo.com/345115/macbook-air-hands+on

IDK if this belongs more in technology than news, so you can move it to where ever you see fit.

In my opinion, the macbook air looks really cool and high tech, but personally, I'm happy with my regular macbook. I like that it's heavier/thicker because it just seems a bit more rugged and substantial and less susceptible to breaking. laugh.gif

Opinions/Thoughts?

I'm going to move this to Technology. happy.gif

That is kind of crazy. idk if I'd like that. It would rrreeeeally freak me out a lot. Plus, I don't really like stuff that is thin when it comes to phones/computers/etc. I'd be scared to break it.

I've changed my mind a bit, after looking over it on Apple's site. Though... the whole optical drive thing makes me sad. But I would consider getting one.

The price ranges make me laugh. hahaha

For you guys that dont know, there is no optical drive. so there is no way for you to insert a cd or anything.

but it is called air for a reason, you can install programs or updates through any other computers optical drive, just insert it into another computer then it wirelessly sends it into the macbook air.

yea big downside is the no optical drive or replaceable battery.

its a pretty cool notebook. and the trackpad is amazing too.

As far as notebook computers, I'd have to give it to Toshiba Satellites and IBM Thinkpads. Satellite's are awesome notebooks, and Thinkpads are very durable.

Whats wrong with Mac's? They're actually very efficient and useful. But if you want to learn more about computers, pc's are the way to go.
I actually really would like the macbook air considering that I'm one of those people who just love Mac. But like what Zed said, the optical drive really changed my mind on actually getting one.

Don't hate me cause I throb.gif macs

actually, i prefer pc's. but i dont really know why cuz i think macs are waaay cooler =P
but anyway, i agree that the slightly heavier one is much better, it'll actually make you feel like your carrying something . its like the ipod nano and regular ipod (not the new nano but the old non-video one) and really thing cells

Man, I was watching the keynote updates like crazy today, so I was totally excited to see a new laptop.

I'm a little disappointed by the high price, lack of an optical drive, and the fact that there's only one USB port.

BUT IT'S SO THIN.

Well everyone should have known it was going to be highly priced, most things by mac are. I was actually expecting it to cost more than what it did, close to what the mac book pros are priced to be. So I must say I was surprised by the price, but not by the product.

Even though its thin, I don't think that would be the winning part of actually purchasing it. You can buy the Dell XPS and its like any other laptop and has everything you need and its ultra light.

It looks really nice, but I think that's the only thing I like about it. I like small notebooks, but that's just way too small. It's like an anorexic notebook. shrug.gif Not having an optical drive sucks, too. I also don't like how it only comes in 13 inch. I love big screens. :3

Ewww. One USB? It wouldn't so be bad if there was only one USB if it had an optical drive.

I would probably attempt to snap that thing in half. I try and do it to my iPod all the time. It's just really tempting.

Wow, Apple has officially disappointed me for the first time.

No optical drive on a laptop just so it can be thin? Bad idea.

It looks like if you touch it the wrong way it'll snap in half

oh and the black aluminum keyboard makes it look ugly

I'm not a mac hater, I usually LOVE everything that is mac. I have an iPhone and have always lovedd their computers but this one to me was a big let down

I know it was a let down, i mean its a cool laptop and all, but its not even equivalent to a macbook pro, so there is no use in using it unless its a recreational laptop for no profession purposes. This macbook is made for like the person who has money to spend on basically just and ultraportable laptop.

I would get it if I was rich but other than that there is no purpose. I was really hoping that they would of came out with a black aluminum MBP but they didnt, or atleast remake some of the other laptops, then i would of considered buying them. But instead I bought the imac!!!
