Hi all...I (finally) got a domain back in June, but haven't really gotten around to working on anything until a few weeks ago. Basically, I just have the layout for my main page and "Portfolio" done, and I wanted some feedback? Do the colors work, the banner, etc?

Thanks for your help, guys :)

I like it so far except that the banner cuts off right before the column where the "welcome" is and the blank space annoys me!
>.<
otherwise, pretty good?
Keep it up!:D

I like the colors a lot. My favorite part is the clouds in the banner. :D

I'm not a big fan of how the banner cuts off on either side. Also the blog is a little too far to the right hand side. The banner is ok but the clouds look kind of weird in my opinion, like they don't fit in exactly. Especially in the top corner.

maybe, make the navigation stand out a little more? that whole left column seems clumped.

I think the layout looks pretty good, I just don't like how you can barely see the text on the headers on the navigation and blog.

The coding align is off and my opinion is that you have atleast a 5 pixel seperation between the top image and the sdiebar & content. Just an opinion!

Along with everything that's been already said, I think you could do without the background and just make it the same color as the content area. Just my opinion. =]

This is on my computer. So, first thing's first, you really need to optimize your graphics because they took forever to load. If it's just me, you should take into consideration how many people are not blessed with a good internet connection, and it's a pain in the ass. Try using the, "Save for Web" option in Photoshop because I am just making the assumption you use it.

Secondly, the text is small and hard to read against a dark background. I'm not really sure why you made the headings brighter than the content that people actually read, but it's quite distracting.

Other than that, things are aligned well, and in the time that I wrote this, your layout still hasn't fully loaded because of the huge file you have as a banner.

Yes, the header/content spacing was what I was thinking was going to change...I didn't really like it too much. Thanks, guys! And I the reason it's probably taking so long to load on your computer is that the images aren't jpegs. I did use the "Save for Web" on Photoshop, but the files are all PNGS...I keep forgetting that not everyone lives on a college campus with lightning-fast connection. whistling.gif I just think colors look richer in PNG, but I will probably end up switching over to the good old jpgs...
