Okay so I have a question. I've been on birth control [ortho tricyclen lo] for about 17 days, and yesterday my stomach [lower abdoman/pelvic area] started to hurt like a mother. It kind of just hurts in general but every so often it goes into spasms of intense pain. Oh, and I have brown? discharge. Is any of this normal..? I'm sort of lost/confused..

Various types of birth control can cause spotting/brown discharge. It's usually harmless, but because you've also been having spontaneous immense pains, I would suggest that you go back to a doctor and switch birth control pills in the case there is an underlying serious problem. I've had the same side-effects while I was on birth control because it's simply your body adjusting to the pill, and it can take up to 3 months for your body to settle down and fully adjust.

^ yeah. if it's not that, you should really talk to your doctor- considering you've been having intense pain.

Well the brown is probably just spotting. That shouldn't be your number one concern, you should probably be more concerned about the pains you've been having. It takes a bit for your body to adjust, but it shouldn't interfer with your day-to-day life. Talk to your doctor. Good luck.
