I'm planning to move out in a month or two, and I've been dreaming up my perfect apartment space. So I thought this might make a good topic.

What is your dream apartment for when you decide to move out of your parents house? I'm not talking about homes for after you get married to your dream husband. I'm talking about the kind of place you live in as a single working professional or student.

Ideally, I'd like a live/work loft; preferably the ones they've got in Santa Ana, either at the Santiago Street Lofts or The City Place Lofts.

Live/work lofts are "mixed use" spaces... the ones I'm looking at are 3 story lofts where the bottom floor is actually a commercial space for a small business or office.

Here are some pictures. These places have first floor commercial spaces that face some really nice streets/promenades with glass roll-up doors. The places in these pics have been staged for tours etc. so if I did happen to get a place in either of those buildings, it wouldn't look that good haha.

Both places units are for sale, actually, but there are some units that people have bought just to rent out for about 1800 a month. But I'm planning to work out a deal with my friend Pam so she can use the commercial space for the web firm shes opening and we can split the rent. Since I'm going to be working there, the commute would be AWESOME. hahahaha.

well, i havent moved out. but my dream apartment is also a loft. a sort of like 2-story loft in manhattan. like the one in what i like about you =] i love tht apartment. mine needs to have at least two bedrooms. a big balcony (like the one in what i like about you). and at least one and a half bathrooms. actually, if i dont have a roommte, one is fine for me.
ooo,i really like the santiago street lofts. especially the red one =]
the interiors are all really nice, too. too big for my liking, but i would be able to live. these are the kind of lofts i look for as well (well, when the time comes)
the city place lofts look really blocky and uninvitingly industrial from the outside. but the inside is great!

Well, I'm definately a good deal of time away moving from my home. (6 years?) But since I'm planning on moving out and moving in with my best friend, we were hoping on saving up to find a nice apartment in Manhattan (yeah, okay) I can still dream! Probably a one or two room is fine for us. As long as we have two bathrooms and a corner table kitchen, we're happy. thumbsup.gif

Trish , I'm coming over if you move in there.

I haven't really looked at any apartments yet. Seriously I just want my space. I would be happy with something decent looking that I can fix it and make it ... well mine. I won't need a lot of space because it would probably be just me , but yea I haven't really thought much into this kind of stuff yet. I will soon though :) (If I don't live in a dorm)

So I dont think Pam is going to do it. She says shes still open to the idea because she likes that we cold split the rent, but she also wants to look at those executive suites that have multiple locations around the world which she would have access to book their conference rooms for meetings.

anyway, i can find a roommate for the living area and also share the office space with some one else too, so it's not a big deal.

Those all look really nice Trish... when I move out I'll hopefully get some kind of loft in either Philly or New York it depends on what my parents feel like letting me get

Ahhh, those places look so gorgeous. I wouldn't mind living there. Too bad I'm too young to get a job or even drive.

Toya, can I come over too? eyebrowes.gif

I would want to live in a loft or penthouse with a great city view, located by lots of shops where I could walk to everywhere I need to go for everyday things or to places to pass the time. It would have lots of windows and interesting furniture/decorations that I've collected at random places that somehow fit together.

It would be fully secured too. Like these people my family knows, their apartment has lots of security with a secretary to check you in, buzz-in doors and elevators...

Alright, I think I'm being a little greedy wanting a castle. But if I had the money. Definitely.

I think that I would want an old 19th century brick Colonial home that was in the woods. Not too deep in the woods though. Just enough as where it was private. I would have a four foot brick wall around it and secret tunnels and shit like that. It would be dope. That's what I would want if I couldn't get a castle.

Trish, those places look gorgeous.

And hmm...I want a nice, roomy condo that could fit me and my s.o. or roommate or whatever. I think that'd be nice. I don't feel like going into too much detail but yeah. Somewhere in the city but not right downtown. Soo, close enough that its easy to get to but not so close that its insanely busy or full of traffic where I live all the time.
A loft would be nice too. But yeh. A roomy, nice, urban-like condo.

I can't wait until I can afford to move out but sadly, that day is too far away.
