What keeps your interest in Createblog? Is it the social aspect - the forums? The graphics and resources? A single member or group of friends? The help and support you can get in design forums?

Why do you make that decision to log in?

I think for me it's a mix between the community we have here (face it, you all rock my socks off) and the fact that since I've started submitting here, I've learnt so much about web design.

I love how you get those members that post nothing but pleas for help in Relationships or Myspace Support, I love how the submissions queue backs up, I love how an avatar can change your perception of a poster (Spence, that Maury avy scared me) and I love sitting in front of my computer until my eyes get square and I'm seeing CSS code in my sleep.

The friends I've made, the members' whose posts I enjoy reading, the layouts and graphics, and because I'm used to being on CreateBlog. The drama and spammers just come with all of that.

Actually, I always believed that a man hug could only be attempted between two straight men (whilst keeping your manly image intact) and with that in mind, I do volunteer Captain Kirk for that duty.

just the whole web design thing in general. i have learned an unbelievable amount of web/graphic design related stuff just searching through forums, and looking at layouts/graphics.
i can honestly say this is the best web design community i've heard of/been involved in. i don't have a friends or anything here, and i try to just stay out of as much of the drama if i can, and just have fun.

plus it's a filler for my social life that always poofs when the school year starts. whistling.gif

Back in the day, it was because of the web-designing since I was still learning and there were awesome people to give you really good feedback. Then, as I got to know people, it was because of the community and the awesome members.

But now that I don't design anymore, more than half the people I knew are not here anymore, and almost everybody else seems to have a stick stuck up their ass... I really don't know why I come back. It seems that in every single topic, there's always a few snarky people who think it'd be funny to be complete assholes. If you don't agree with something or happen to think somebody's ideas are idiotic, you can say that, but there's no need to be a bitch about it.

So really... I think I just come back because the drama is a good time-killer.

But then again, there are those few people who are pretty chill, and you gotta admit... cB has its moments.

Two years ago I came back because this place was genuinely fun. A lot of cool people, a lot of cool, real discussions and a lot of learning to do.

After that, all that was left was to harass the shitty staff and 14 year old userbase. I disappear when the drama goes down and reappear when it flares back up.

And I try to keep in touch with a few people I wouldn't otherwise be able to talk to.

LOL, the bolded is exactly what I say about this place. It seems like the latest cB trend is to act like an ignorant a-hole about everything. Sad, really. It's even worse when people actually laugh and encourage it. They're just as stupid.

Edit: WTF? "a-hole?" I didn't write that!

Negative attitudes and outlooks don't give a very positive opinion of yourself to others. Maybe you're not looking for friends here? That doesn't help the scenario either. Also, maybe posting a picture of yourself that doesn't look like an ink blot might not be a bad thing, unless you're that ugly. Plenty of uglies post pics and some uglies even get false compliments to raise their self-esteem! Even though your pics are ink blots, you don't look "that ugly."

To occasionally check on people's responses, and to be in awe how uncivilized a simple debate can be, filled with personal attacks and insults. I'm disappointed sometimes when it's a one to two-sentence response to a rather meaningful topic, so I enjoy the people who take the time to thoughtfully think about the topic at-hand.

boredom.

i only come on createblog when i'm absolutely bored, mainly just to see if the site still exists.

and on that note, i'll probably be out of here in about 5 minutes.

there's just something about it that makes createblog unenjoyable anymore compared to when i came here a lot.

of course, many arguements go down about why that is; i just prefer not to think about it and watch TV online for entertainment.

yep I always learn new things from Createblog I LOVE Createblog too because of the awesome graphics and layout help because sometimes I get stuck while making a layout. So in the end I just love everything about Createblog. plus some of the people on here are nice and I was hurt too much in middle School socially to be able to open up and it is easier to open up to people the net. (the people I have never met) now I am getting stronger so I have a couple of good friends in real life.

I just made my way back to CreateBlog after a couple of years getting away from it. Anyway, I come on here mostly just because I get bored and it's something to keep me busy for a good hour or so.

Doesn't sound like a very good trait for staff.

And you don't judge who's on staff.

I record data on behavior patterns to contribute to the study of social learning, primate cognition, and culture. In time, I hope to get close enough for the herd to accept me almost as if I'm one of their own. Nevertheless, my objectivity as an outside observer must remain emotionally unattached.

My time with these curious creatures proves to be more and more conducive by the day.

Day 412:

One of the males, whom I've named "Steven", portrayed signals of inquisitive conduct. I patted him on the head and gave him my pen to play with, which he eyed with wonder before sticking up his nostril. Regardless, it would appear that they have at least some ability of using primitive tools, in consequence of their curious demeanor.

The community. Since I do pretty much all my own coding I don't really use the layouts and scripts too much, and I'm not into using other people's pictures, so I don't use graphics. I really don't give a damn who looks at my profile, so the tracker is useless to me. All that leaves is the Forum, its filled with win.
