Why do girls love emo boys?

Seriously, it's getting out of hand. I have been waiting for a long time for this trend to be over that I see 25 year old men keeping the scene look going with their balding spots [no joke].

What I noticed is that teenage girls LOVE LOVE emo boys. I think it is because they want someone who is emotionally available as if emo boys are different than other guys? Is it bisexuality coming into play with the long hair and female type clothes? lol, idk and thought I would ask.

I love the scene look. Most scene girls or emo whatever likes the music I listen to. And we can relate really well together. I love the skinny jeans look with the vans/chicks. I love the dyed hair, and awesome hair that covers there face on one side. I love how they enjoy being with me, going to concerts, etc. I don't know, I'm just attracted to them. It's like saying, why are you attracted to "normal" people.

My fiance used to wear chick pants.

I LOVED IT!!!!

It showed me he was comfortable with his sexuality. He did way before it was all trendy though.

Hmm, I'm not exactly attracted to the style attributed to "emo" people, but I like emotional boys. I'm not into the butch, body-building, hard-ass type of guys, or the wishy-washy, weak types. "Emo" girls are different than "emo" guys. I don't like, typically, how scrawny they all appear to be and look as if I'd bruise them if I were to hug them. They don't look healthy to me, at all.

same. i have a feeling if i was with one, they would spend more time on their hair than i would. i was with an emotional overhaul of a boy for 9 months. what i thought was funny was he would make fun of scene kids and the whole look yet i see what he is like now and he's the opposite. lol, i find it ironic.
im not saying they are any different in a bad way or something..

I'm actually really disturbed by boys who don't mind wearing eyeliner and tight jeans. I come from a pretty conservative family, so roles of men and women are clear in my head. I'm not talking about the housewife, working man type of mentality, but you know, girls and boys have very distinct ways of carrying themselves in their appearance. The tight-ass jeans and shirt just aren't my thing. I like my guys to be the typical guy in all outward appearances.

i know what you mean.
eyeliner is my "no way" and when i share pants with him, something is wrong. i mean i used to think guys who rode bmx or skateboarding was attractive but now they are doing it in the 20's and im really turned off.
i think there is a time where being "scene" is wrong and it's time to grow up. i hope one day i'm not walking around and see a 30 yr old rocking some girl pants and rock tee..

A-goddamned-men. There's a time when people need to grow up and out of your teenage phase and change your style. You can't look as if you've been indulging in teenage fashion over MySpace for the rest of your life. For both women and men. I find mothers who have facial piercings abound to be extremely unattractive. Are these "emo" people going to be wearing skinny jeans for the rest of their lives, into old age? Sick.

I wear skinny jeans since I was 17. I'm 19 now. I plan on wearing them till I look good in them still and right. Probably 23-24. I'll probably move into slim straight jeans. I wear eyeliner a few times. And that's it. I take about 20-25 minutes to do my hair.

I don't see why you two are so against it. I'd MUCH MUCH rather hang out with a guy that wore chick pants than a guy that wore his belt down by his ankles and XXXXXXXXXXXXXL t-shirts.
I don't really dig eyeliner, but I know guys that have worn it and they are so sweet. I wouldn't date them, but I am more than happy to be their friend.

John wore chick pants and band shirts EVERY DAY. He doesn't wear chick pants anymore, but his pants are tighter than most guys. He is the most amazing person I've ever met. It just goes to show unless you know someone you shouldn't say they are disturbing.

emo boys are a no. it makes me feel as if they're still stuck in the throes of their adolescence. as if they can't get out of the "why does everyone hate me" phase. i see them as little boys.

What happened to form-fitting clothes? I like my guys to wear clothes that fit him and doesn't look as if he's wearing my jeans.

I could not care less if your skinny-jeans-wearing boyfriend is the most loving person you know; I'm sure everyone would say this about their boyfriends. My boyfriend wears slightly loose but not overly baggy or tight jeans, and he's the best man I know. I never touched the subject of generalizing their personality, just their physical appearance. I also didn't say that "emo" boys were disturbing, I was saying that *I* become disturbed seeing how skinny most of them are.

You strike me as the type to shove your moralistic, "I accept everyone" values down other people's throat because we don't like what you like, and at the same time, you can't just simply accept our opinions and chill out. It's a damned forum. I already explained in my previous post that I grew up in a different environment than you probably did.

I can shove my views down your throat if you want me to. I was just stating, in a matter of fact manner, that I don't understand why you and Jeanna don't like it so much. I then proceeded to state MY views on the matter. I always thought that's what I did on forums, but since you know me so well I was hoping you could tell me what I am really supposed to do.

It appears to me that you are the kind of person that gets really offended when people stand their ground. The fact that I can openly state the things that I feel, not caring whether or not they jive with your "wholesome" upbringing intimidates you into being an unprovoked bitch.

I didn't have a problem with your views, but I do have a problem now because of the way you addressed myself and my fiance with disrespect.

I guess your parents were too busy teaching you what boys and girls are supposed to look like rather than teaching you manners and common courtesy. God Damn priorities, right? thumbsup.gif

I dont know, but i love them o.O I've always liked halflong hair on guys, and skaters. and maybe because i like the 'whatever, ill dress how i want' kind of look. Mostly, they like my kind of music too, which is pretty important for me.

I dont like the skinny scene guys though. They have to be healthy, and they shouldnt have "emo" all over them. But a little bit is very, very nice.

I think girls like them because it all has to do with what the "emo" they see in their crush is saying. I know its not manly but it's highly attractive to some girls when they see guys wearing eyeliner. I guess it makes them feel less alone to know that someone else wants to mask their pain with make-up. Im not saying thats the reason everyone wears make-up. Its just that most times girls or guys clod it on it seems that they're hiding something. Idk maybe thats just the way I feel about it. As for the whole tight jean thing. I have no clue why girls like that. How did it even get in style for boys? Its cute[ish] and all but I think most of them need to learn to loosen before lost.

The worst ones are the ones you added on Myspace before they turned to the dye-side.

Beg what to differ? I think your problem is that you don't know how to read English. Let's do this together: I am disturbed by boys who wear tight clothing *because* they are also unusually skinny in them. I do not think they are disturbing because they wear tight clothing. Is this not clicking in your brain?

What the hell are you even talking about? I never claimed to know you, or that I could tell you what to do. I was bringing in my observations of you since you become all mushy-gushy because we didn't happen to like a type of style. I'm not offended by what you said; you seemed offended by what I had to say, and I was clarifying that we are not talking about how awesome of a personality your boyfriend has, we're talking about the "emo" trend.

Perhaps you should read over your post again and how you brought your personal, irrelevant experience into it. I've been making general statements about this trend, while you had to bring all of your, "well, MY BOYFRIEND ISN'T LIKE THAT" crap into this. I wasn't talking about your boyfriend; I don't give a shit about what your boyfriend does or wears, and I was correcting you.

And, yes, I learned well from my parents that men who carry themselves as men and not sixth grade boys are attractive to me. Is that all of what I learned? No. And your assumptions are retarded.

i wasnt saying they are bad people lol. i was saying the trend is becoming old and worn out since people are growing up.
and that's the reason i think girls flock to emo boys is because they are more emotional and have a female flair to them.

whatttt? i hope that wasn't meant towards me lol. in the beginning it was about being different but if you look around NOW, everyone is the same. now people are bitching on their myspace on how they started the trend and everyone is copying them! lol. oh and saying people steal things on their myspace too.

it really isn't about being different anymore. just another clone of eachother. i wonder what the new trend will be.. hmm

Let it go chickee.

Personally, I don't care about the way a guy dresses. The emo style looks cool on some guys. Besides, a guy who is comfortable enough in his sexuality to wear feminine clothes isn't a bad thing. However, with the whole emo mentality, if a guy goes around all down on himself believing his life is the crappiest thing in existance, well then, that's just a no.

I agree again, reminds me of all the "hardcore" kids and everyone who falls into that genre of "unique"

Yea, your unique...just like everyone else.

I just don't understand the whole concept behind being "emo".

I mean your placing yourself in a naturally depressive situation on purpose just for the sake of being one of the pack, the music you listen to would depress even the cheeriest of people after a while, your icon expresses thoughts of suicide, your quote in your signature talks about drug use, hopelessness and pain. Everything you surround yourself with makes life seem so much more sad and painful than it really is, it's just such a pessimistic lifestyle and way of looking at life, it's hard to have fun when you always think the glass is half empty.

Don't you ever just want to step back and say,"Hey, my life isn't that bad, let's go do something fun, or go listen to some fun music and dance or something and just live life."

i just listen to the music i like and dress in clothes i like... i've given up on disagreeing with people who call me emo. i hate that lable but if that's what people are going to use, i can't stop them and i'm not going to change myself to make them happy.

and what if something bad is happening in our lives that we can't control? and we listen to the music to take the pain away.

It's no argument, just a discussion.
Trust me, I know all about pain and suffering, personally I suffer from depression and take 125mg of Effexor XR once daily every morning to control my mood swings, I overdosed trying to kill myself back in March of this year on Methadone, and in October my father had his right leg amputated because of a dirtbike accident after 16 surgeries and trying to keep his leg for the past 2years, he can't work any longer and my mom has a good paying job but I have 2 younger siblings and live in a million dollar home in one of the most expensive states in the country, my mom works a swingshift at work (12 hour days) and has an apartment in San Diego because thats where she works and she can't drive 2 hours to get home everyday after work so I only see her on the weekends and most of the time when she's here she's sleeping, I work full time for West Coast Inspections, an inspection company my dad owns, to try and keep it afloat till he can get back on his feet, I don't know what your problems are, but I'd say mine are pretty far up there, I've had to grow up a lot in the past few years. I don't regret any of it though, I love my life and I'm making the best of everything I still find time to hang and have fun with my friends and keep good relationships, as far as music goes, I think it can affect your mood a lot, listening to someone else's pain through a song only adds more to yours, you may think it helps you vent, but sad songs don't help you vent, they help you sulk, and having friends who listen to the same crap and feel as bad as you do at the time doesn't help, you only add more pain to each other, it just seems like such a suck ass way to live.

sorry about all that. i don't really want to say my problems here because half of you will call me a liar and say i'm feeling sorry for myself and the other half will tell me to "go to the authorities" or something along those lines. my mom says i'm bipolar but doesn't do anything about it and my dad's too out of it (and probably doesn't care enough) to notice anything.

but, long story short: i'm attracted to emo boys.

I'm not here to judge you or anything, and if you choose not to share an experiences that's fine, I don't blame you or think that's dumb or anything.

Do you think maybe you are attracted to "emo" boys because they seem to be able to relate to what you may be feeling on the inside, they represent that feeling on the outside by there look and attitude and that's what attracts you and gives you some sort of, belonging?

Well, i'm a guy and i dress whats called emo. Most people complain about being labelled, i dont really care if other people label me, i dont label myself and thats all i care about. I think the reason why i dress the way i do is just to express myself. In school i've kind of alienated myself from alot of pretty girls because, i'm not trying to be unmodest, but because you can't see me to know, i'll say that i'm very good looking. And now most of the prettiest girls in my school don't like me because i dress this way. I kind of care but i won't quit dressing the way i do because i really feel like a part of me would be missing if i didnt try and be different. There are some "emo" girls at my school who are drooling over me though, but my school is some very small school in some little town in some country called Canada, and so there's hardly anybody who dresses like me, and i'm not very popular so i don't really know many people from other schools so it does kind of suck but still, i feel like i will dress this way for a long time. Maybe you say i won't, maybe your right, but that doesn't matter. I'm not usually open about this, but since this is over the internet i'll tell you i want to be a rockstar. I don't care if i'm in the biggest band in the world, i just want to be in a band who'll gain some recognition and have an impact in music. And most of all i just want to play music all my life and not have to worry about the whole stressful, annoying, depressing, hate-filled world. To tell you the truth i want to cry right now just by thinking about it, but i won't. i never do. Anyways, i just wanted to point out that i don't think teenage girls "LOVE LOVE" emo boys. if that were true, why am i missing out on the one thing i want most? Love, which i have none of right now and would do anything for. I probably sound so depressing but i'm not being fake, the past week has been the worst of my life, each week just keeps getting worse, worse, worse, worse, worse, but i don't care about that either because i can see light at the end of the tunnel. Actually i guess i didn't really have a point to writing this, i think i just wanted to get some things off my chest about people being harsh on "emo". i wish somebody would listen to me, talking over the internet just doesn't cut it. But i can't explain myself at school, i'll just be made fun of. I mean, to be honest, i can't speak my mind and not worry about everyone thinking "what a loser!" i'd rather just step out of the spotlight for now and hope noone notices me. Why can't people just accept some people want to be different? I know there's a whole load of "emo" kids out there who are just trying to fit in or w/e your making fun of them for. I know, trust me, i can tell a phony from a mile away, it's like my sixth and seventh sense. But why must everyone assume that ALL "emo" kids are fake losers pretending to be something they're not? It isn't fair! Anyway, thanks for listening. Please reply.

Um...
Part of being different is not caring what other people think or say. I know I am different from a lot of people in my town and a lot of people here on CB, it doesn't bother me though because I am happy with who I am. I love myself enough to know what makes me happy and to do it regardless of what other people think. I know I am different and I will get shit for it as long as I shy away from the norm. You will, too.

What grade are you in?

I kind of disagree that part of being different is not caring what others think.

Maybe i don't care what other people think, i just start to believe what mean things they say because, who am i kidding, i don't really love myself. I don't want to be somebody else. I want to be me, but i want to be a better me. I try for me, not for anyone else. I think really i just want to love myself, though i'll never be satisfied. If you love yourself let me tell you something you probably already know, your lucky.

So i'm in grade 11, you?

Well if you know this, why don't you dress according to the norm. and just be unique in personality? This is why I say they are striving for attention, it's all about the shock factor of being dark and depressive and having people look and stair at the kid with the eyeliner and weird black hair over his eyes.

girls like emo boys because they think they got themselves a man that is sensitive. and thats complete bullshit.

im tired of people putting on a costume
to make themselves look helpless.
to make themselves look misunderstood
and in pain.

get over yourselves. people all over the world are dying. youre nothing but a bead of sweat off the brow of an overworked, underpaid, starving worker.

Indeed. It's also such a culture that relies so much on self-justification.

It irks me to see people describe the emo trend as a subculture of 'goth'.

I love goths.

My personality is unique, i couldn't even help that if i tried. I really don't think i'm striving for attention, maybe i am some subliminal way if that makes sense? i don't know just a thought. And i hate when people stare at me more than anything. Besides, i don't have my hair over my eyes it's cut above my eyes, it is black though so it's kinda plain. I want to put blue highlights or something in it, but i don't trust people with my hair, they always do it wrong. And also, i don't wear eyeliner, well i do, but not around other people. I just like wearing it for some reason. That probably sounds pathetic but i don't care.

It's true, i think about myself more than those unfortunate people who are helpless and in trouble. So does the whole world, so who are you to judge one single group of people? Take a good look at yourself. What have you done to help people lately? Anything? I will try hard and if one day i am fortunate enough to be given a chance to help people in need, i will help. Right now i'm only 16 years old, what can i do? But i will give it everything i've got till the day i die and maybe i can make a difference.

ive only been 17 for a month.
and last year my boyfriend and i raised $4500 and walked 60 km for breast cancer.
i buy fair trade.
i volunteer at the salvation army.
ive raised money to send a crew to guatamala to build a school.
i dont litter or waste.
i organize food drives.
ive gotten personallly involved to help my students that are being beaten.
i dont whine about my problems to make myself look damned.

this isnt meant to make me look like a goody goody, or to boast, but merely to prove that it is absolute bullshit that you cant do anything. youre just too lazy and wrapped up in your own problems to get off your ass and make yourself available to do things that help society.

i know that people have problems, im one of them.
but to express your problems with a MAJORLY commercialized fad is shit.

i dont litter or waste.
i organize food drives.
ive gotten personallly involved to help my students that are being beaten.
i dont whine about my problems to make myself look damned.
this isnt meant to make me look like a goody goody, or to boast, but merely to prove that it is absolute bullshit that you cant do anything. youre just too lazy and wrapped up in your own problems to get off your ass and make yourself available to do things that help society.

i know that people have problems, im one of them.
but to express your problems with a MAJORLY commercialized fad is shit.

Well, if thats true than good for you, you should keep it up. Your right that i haven't done much yet, there's other things going on my life right now and i have to take care of them, i'm not lazy, i just have to focus on myself right now because i'm in alot of trouble, if i don't get better things could get out of control. i have to help myself before i can help others, but i still care, and when i'm ready i will show that. I don't whine about my problems constantly or anything, but your making it seem like i have none and i'm just complaining about nothing, that feels like an insult, because it's not true, i know life isn't easy for anyone, but mine isn't going very good right now, and that's probably my fault somehow i know. I don't just express myself through the way i dress, i also do it through writing poems, or songs, or just writing freely whatever comes to mind, or by singing. I love music, it's something i can always turn to. I don't look at "emo" as a commercialized fad like you, i don't care how many people are dressing "emo" now. That doesn't matter to me, for me it's still a way to show that i'm different. The first time i heard about "emo", years ago, everyone was making fun of it and we were listening to the "emo song", the one by Adam and Andrew, you know? Well, i was intrigued, i didn't know what it was and it drew me to it somehow, so i went home and looked it up over the internet, and i loved it, i just thought it was awesome, i don't know why, but it was. To be honest, now it's lost a bit of it's flair to me. It doesn't seem as mysterious or wierd to me anymore, now it's just this whole big thing, i don't like that, but i still like "emo", or what it is to me at least.

You're emo Tung.
Cristy and I both have the same thoughts on this; No one can be emotive hardcore all the time.

Girls who like emo...well that depends on their taste.
I think it's just mostly because of their style. I just want the emo label to stop just because someone dresses dark and have dark eyeliners and shit. Or if someone who does self-injuries are not always considered "emo".
Societies these days.
I don't really know what to say to this topic.

Girls like emo boys? You mean we aren't attracted to men with self respect, but love guys who wallow in self-pity? I thought confidence was sexy and attractive. Emo guys lack that, frankly.

I agree, personally I ahte the whole emo fashion, it makes the guys way too feminine. I prefer punk guys with mohawks. tongue.gif

I've only met a few guys who would be branded as 'emo.' They were nice, but I felt that if I said something slightly offensive, they would start to cry.

This is just my experience with "emo boys," anyway.

I find it ironic, that I just looked at who started this topic lol! That person is the definition of emo! Seriously though, I would have to say it is because girls want a sensitive guy deep down inside. Most guys, including myself, are oblivious to the obvious when it comes to girls sometimes.

I think they're cute/hot because of their hair, but I wouldn't necessarily date one just like that.

Couldn`t have said it better.
