Who's interested?

I wouldn't mind watching since Ellen Page was just so awesome in Hard Candy.

reminded me kind of like little miss sunshine.

their lingo.. is so random, i love it.
Jennifer garner is also in it.

Its like... a indi film of knocked up / teen preggerz.
Definitely a dvd i'm buying, I won't mind watching it a million times.

Yeah. Juno isn't as "Indie" as some of the other movies Ellen Page was in though, in my understanding.

Her music is in this movie. Or, at the very least, her music is in one of trailers I saw a long time ago. That is a bit of encouragement - I'm sure the film is charming.

However, I've really been slacking on my film studies (three Netflix rentals have been sitting on my VCR for more than three weeks, not good) and I need to get serious. I have a lot of movies I really want to, and or feel I need to, see. Juno isn't exactly a priority.

I have to admit, I had some doubts that it would be some sort of American Pie movie. But looking at the comments, I've always liked Indie movies. My best friend wants to watch this so maybe I'll go see it with her.

Oh yeah, one of the first thing I noticed when the beginning credits started was "music by Kimya Dawson," which excited me a lot. Pretty much the entire movie was Kimya Dawson/The Moldy Peaches, plus like 2 Belle and Sebastian songs, so I was pretty happy with that.

It definitely was a charming movie. I'd heard bad things about the writing, and the beginning made me a little weary, because it seemed to be trying too hard with the dialog, but it improved. There were enough redeeming qualities to the movie to outweigh the ambivalences of the writing. I'm inclined to say it's a bit overrated, and possibly overhyped, but I also don't enjoy seeing movies in crowded theaters, because people miss the clever jokes and laugh too long at stupid shit that is too ostentatious to be funny. I don't watch sitcoms with laugh tracks, so I certainly don't want them to my movies. An indie loses some of its charm when treated like a Hollywood box office smash. But maybe I'm just bitter to be back in the suburbs...

Cute movie, a date movie..not something you would go see with your guy friends..if you were a guy..

I think it let out a good option for teens to go with an open adoption then having an abortion and all..I think they nailed the personalities as well

^Yeah, exactly. wtf.
But regardless, it really isn't that difficult to sneak into movies. Buy a ticket for something else, go into the theater you actually want. I almost did that the other day for Sweeney Todd sheerly because I was too lazy to get my license out.

I loved Juno. Ellen Page was an absolute darling. I loved her character so much. I do kind of wish they did more with Michael Cera; his character seemed like the kind of guy who would be really involved in the whole process, and he really wasn't there that much for the actual duration of the pregnancy. And the way her parents reacted ALMOST wasn't believable...I don't know about you guys, but my parents would not be so placid about that.

This is my pick for Best Picture in a Comedy or Musical.

This movie's raw honesty of how teenagers act is definitely the best comedy I've seen in ages. I love Ellen Page and Michael Cera but without being partial, I recommend everyone to see this movie. My pick for 07.

He wasn't a pedophile father. He was never a father in the first place. They divorce before Jennifer Garner got the baby. So in conclusion, he was a pedophile straight up.

Are you kidding me? The music was the reason why the movie was good. Ask anyone in this thread who posted, and they will tell you the music was awesome. You don't have the appreciation of good music, when you hear it. It's a mainstream indie movie, and I know that's an oxymoron, but the music was what defined the movie.

That's a very stereotypical thing to say. Are you saying all classical and indie songs sound alike? Should I say that all rap music sound alike because they repeat the same 2-3 verse over and over and over, and make a name of themselves from a verse or two?

I think it was so strange that it fit the story line perfectly. And the last scene in the movie where they are singing that song?
That is SUCH a cute song.

I agree with my girl Misfits. Jocelyn obviously doesn't appreciate music and doesn't know music well enough to know that it was great music. The last song at the end was definitely a good touch to the ending which made the movie enjoyable. Typical black people not understanding the beauty of music. Can I get an amen?

the music was boss. kimya has a bitchin' raspy voice, and the lyrics are funny.

i thought this movie was witty, but i think my boyfriend and i were laughing the most out of the total 12 people there.

I loved the music in Juno. It was so cute!! And I agree about Kimya Dawson, her songs give off that automatic happy feeling. Perfect for this film!

God, Juno was ADORABLE! I watched it twice b/c my friend downloaded it and gave it to me :P but it was very cute.

Ellen Page + Michael Cera = hot sex

I love the soundtrack! But it sounds much better with the actual movie, not by itself :/

I just watched this today...it was great! I hadn't laughed so hard in a while.

Yeah, the music was awesome, especially with the movie. It's on non-stop on my iPod too.

The whole Mark and Juno thing...really creeped me out. The whole theatre was visually uncomfortable with that whole scene, you could tell.

Haha, "pork swords".

Oh yeah. That was probably like the least funny funny line in the movie, and it had to become the most popular. mellow.gif

Saw this, finally, and feel like the only person in the world that doesn't like it. And, philosophically, I think I really hate it. It's an obvious commercial experiment (especially given the success of Little Miss Sunshine) to propagate the "indie quirky and cool." Trite, over-written dialogue. Place-holder characters. Disgusting moral positions to the point of having the film adopted by religious right wing groups to promote anti-abortion campaigns. Teenage pregnancy is neither cute nor fun. This movie tells me nothing about life. Worst of all, I didn't laugh once (not f**king once). It's a shame it has such an amazing soundtrack, too f**king bad I've been listening to all of it for years now.

Shit on this movie and it's backwards f**king Oscar nominations and win.

Are you serious?

Why do people put Belle and Sebastian on soundtracks?! WHY?! Is it an auto-cool thing?

yep, sorry i brought back another old thread, but i've just been catching up on movies (since it's summer and all!) pinch.gif

i didn't think it was that funny (i don't know if it really was supposed to be), but i was pleasantly surprised with how the movie was because i thought it would be different for some reason. i really liked how each point of view was shown and not just juno's. like juno's parents' reaction to her pregnancy, mark and vanessa's relationship, etc. i just wish michael cera had more on-screen time.

I didn't love this movie...I'm not trying to be all ZOMG IM A NONCONFORMIST IM GOING TO HATE ON JUNO, but I won't say I loved it just because everyone else did either.

I think I laughed...twice [step mother ownage scene] but other than that I just found the movie unappealing: that really strange divorce storyline with the adopting parents?!!?

While some people go too far into the movies and try to pry and figure things out. I've only read as to what the adoptive mother does for a living... because the father does say that his jingle paid for the kitchen... and the only time you see the mother outside of the home is when she is with the kids at the mall. But she has to to have some sort of steady job, because she's always out when Juno comes over. shrug.gif And she has to have a good job in order to be a single mother adopting.

I didn't really like this movie. Juno was just too far out there for me. Some parts felt like the actors were doing a screen test and just reading the scripts to each other. Like when she goes to the convience store and clerk has these off the wall comebacks. They seemed too forced for me. It reminded me of when you are in class and the teacher makes you read lines from a book outloud.

i also got that impression that they were trying to seem "indie." it wasn't horrible for me, though.
