Let's have a minutes silence for the poor souls who's lives were unkindly cut short by this horrible act, and for the families of said victims torn apart by the death. *Raises glass in salute* |

Eh I've never been one for moments of silence etc, I'd rather just know what happened and have respect that way, not have someone (or a school) force me to be quiet and respect them.

Disclaimer: Before you read this post, I want you (the reader) to know that I do reserve a moment of my life in silence for the actual hero's of 9/11. The firefighters, the police men, the people in the buildings that were helping others... anyone that lost their life trying to save another human being in that tragic accident. These people are heroes, but for the rest...
Alright, as much as I think that these people deserved respect. In some ways, I look at them the same way I look at princess Dianna. I don't know them, most of them were probably cocky stockbrokers and corporate pigs with shit loads of money, and they only receive attention for their death because it was an extremely crazy/publicized death (how many people do you know that were planed or had one of the tallest buildings in the world fall on top of them... exactly), but just because those people died didn't make them heroes or heroins. I just don't think that all of them deserve special treatment because they died. Treat them like any other death. They died, people die every 10 seconds, and we aren't eternally silent. If you people want equality then start by showing equality. Aside from our loss of decent human beings (the minority of lives lost in 9/11), the biggest loss in 9/11 was money. Those fucking buildings cost us over 10 billion dollars. Probably more than that if you count all the time that Americans spent sitting in silence. We have an estimated 302,843,049 people in our country. If all of them took 1 minute of their time in respect to 9/11 at New York State minimum wage of $6.75 dollars an hour, just that 1 minute would cost our country $34,069,843.01. Imagine all the time that people took to worry about the subject. God damn it!!! Fucking terrorists!!! It's ridiculous!!! No wonder we've been on a terrorist killing spree the past 6-7 years. Fuck... In the end, like Kyro said, the only think you can do is have fun. fucking forget about it, because when we worry about this shit we're doing exactly what the terrorists want. So, instead of worrying about it, have fun and let our army fucking kill those sons of bitchs. AMERICA!! FUCK YEAH!!! |

I actually completely didn't realize today was well... the anniversary. I didn't see it mentioned on tv at all, and my school didn't have any announcements or a moment of silence or an assembly or anything

They just do it all over the country because people had others they know die in it, even if they didn't live in New York...it's just respectful.

Eh I just see this day going in history and people are just going to treat it like any other day sooner or later. This year they had a protest going on to keep the ceremony that says all the names of those who died during 9/11 and there was such a low percentage of those who said they would actually attend or even watch it that their not even bothering saying every name and stuff.
-shrug- My parents had their divorce finalized today, so I thought it was a good day. |

IMO, 9/11 = today's Pearl Harbor, except instead of troops in WWII thinking that they were scheduled routine flights, there were a bunch of rich people thinking where the f**k are those planes going.

my school didn't do jackshit.
so disrespectful. i mean..the moment of silence is kinda pointless, and i'd keep doing what i was doing... but seriously. they didn't do ANYTHING. they even told the teachers to not even dare mention it or if a student mentions it that they should report them to the office. pathetic... i'm glad i live in the central US...with all the BS that's going on... i just can't help to think that one day it's going to blow up in our faces and they'll bomb places other than the east. eck. |

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die... Always x |
