So I have this project to make a children's book.
On each page there needs to be a letter from the alphabet, and for each letter has to be a word that corresponds with that letter, and then we illustrate the word. So, for my theme, I really wanted to do phobias... as in, A is for Achluophobia- Fear of darkness. B is for Bogyphobia- Fear of bogeys or the bogeyman. C is for Clinophobia- Fear of going to bed. And then just do all the fears that children face... however someone did the same thing a couple years back, and I don't really want to make a repeat. Anyone else have any ideas? It doesn't have to be simillar to the topic.. but I don't want to do like the ABCs of animals... or something like that. I was thinking about Pop Culture, but there is so much of it, and some people don't know all of it too. So, first, what would you do for this project? and second, what would you suggest for me to do for my ABCs? I don't really have a deadline as of yet, but I'm trying to get started asap :] |

The phobias is a pretty neat idea still.
Objects and animals are too overused, yeah. You could do names of "popular" (I understand that is relative :P) cartoon characters. |

I really like the phobias idea. If you were to go with Pop culture you could go with something even more specific such as Disney Channel.
A is Ariel. B is Bolton, Troy. C is Cory in the House. D is Derek (Life with Derek.) E is East High. (HSM) F is Future (Phil of the Future.) G is gift. (Raven's gift of seeing the future.) H is Hannah Montana. I is "I Don't Dance." (HSM) Although that all depends on the age group you are trying to direct it towards... if you are going for 8 and up I would do something like above 8 and below... huh... idk. Toys? idk, I can see how you want to go with more out there idea. Nothing gets your grade boosted like being original. |

I was actually thinking of cartoon characters, but I was holding back in case I found something better... more of a last resort, haha. I really like the phobias idea. That's a good idea, I was thinking maybe doing all characters from Disney movies, but then again I couldn't figure a character for Z. /shrug. Yeah I really want an out there idea, its really getting me. I was also thinking of doing it all based on Charlotte's Web. Since I know Z could be for Zuckerman. C For Charlotte, W for Wilbur, T for Templeton, etc. Haha. I kind of like it, I think I'm going to do that if I don't find something simillar to phobias. |

The problem with using something as highly specific as a single book is that you may have a lot of letters blank. Instead of only using characters' names, maybe include names of locations and themes and concepts as well? But that may be a little complex for some kids.

Haha, true. In all honesty my teacher doesn't care if it is actually child-proof. She just doesn't want you doing like ABCs of Alcoholic beverages or ABCs of pornography, etc. Haha. Doesn't have to be like.. disney related or cartoon related, or even really kid related.

Z could be for Zurg (the guy from toy story and buzz lightyear of star command)? |
