I need advice! I don't know what a money order is :C

I am selling an item on Ebay, but I listed that I only accept Paypal payments. Are money orders safe? And if I allow that person to pay through a money order, how will I receive it? In the mail? Online?

You'd receive it in the mail:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money_order
That should help.

It is a more trusted method of payment than a personal check, because it is required that the funds be prepaid for the amount shown on it.

But I have no idea how safe it is shrug.gif Cause I've never done that kind of stuff before.
If you're worried about it, maybe you should stick to Paypal.

To be honest, you have an advantage doing it thorugh ebay as opposed to a less regulated site, so if you're going to try it out, it ought to be with them.

Like Kara said, it isn't going to be risk free, but rather just like, you need to have a good experience with it, and that will build your confidence.

Michelle. Easy solution. Don't ship til you get your money.

I used to sell money orders, and here's how it works.

Someone pays the amount they are wanting to send to someone, it's all entered, and a check is printed out. From there, they mail it to the person.

A lot of people use it for paying mortgages, bills, and other things that are located in out of state companies. I wouldn't say it's definitely the safest, but it's not like the cons outweigh the pros. If anything, I'd just stick with Paypal.

Yeah, it isn't completely unsafe but if you're unsure just stick with paypayl or ship after you get the money. Depends how much of a risk taker you are really.

Stick with PayPal. Money orders are ok, but in this day and age? Do the PayPal thing, especially with eBay.

Or wait, you could do the google payment thing. I have no idea how it works on the seller end, but I've been paying for stuff quite a bit lately via google.

Oh wait, here: http://checkout.google.com/sell/?promo=sha...nid=Un_D5GN4hls

I just decided that I'm going to allow money order for that ONE item... and only ship it once I have the money in my bank account. ^_^

And if it's fake or whatever, give them a baddd rating. ^_^

But then they might think you're scamming them. D:

Really, PayPal would be the best for both ends.

^No, I think it's eBay etiquette to not ship something until you recieve payment, no matter what payment method is being accepted. The bidder/winner should know that some methods take longer and most people won't ship until the money is received.

I know, but I'm only using this for ONE item because someone specifically asked me. And they might not even win the item. :P

I've sent out money orders before. Basically, its like a debit card that you can just cash money from. I'm not sure how safe it is, but it sure beats credits cards and all of that hassle.

IMO, I'd stick with paypal, you never know if they jip you of anything and the slimebag will get the item and you won't get anything back.
