If plastic surgery was considered wrong, sin, or negative, makeup should be considered as well. They are both cosmetic. I don’t know why people are against plastic surgery and not makeup.
They both make you “fake”, “masked”, and “isn’t who you really are” (not a great selection of words). Makeup is a great confidence boaster so does plastic surgery. It doesn’t matter if you take off makeup or have permanent surgery. They are BOTH COSMETIC, cover flaws, and carry risk. |

plastic surgery is a BIG decision and in most cases, drastically changes you.
makeup enhances you...it doesn't carry as much of a risk. you still have what your momma gave you. |

Well there's this one girl I know. She wears like a pound of makeup on her face. We make fun of her for it. I guess that's a risk

Like Sarina said, plastic surgery is changing who you are, makeup is enhancing what you have. Someone who is happy with the way they look won't get plastic surgery, but they will wear makeup to .. say enhance their beautiful blue eyes!

i guess i can kinda see ur train of thought...there are cases when people get plastic surgery and they don't look that much different like janet jackson and vivica a. fox, not everyone ends up like michael jackson or joan rivers...but when some people wear make up they look like a completely different person, which is what plastic surgery can do. example:
oprah when she wakes up in the morning ![]() and oprah when she's at work ![]() |

If you put too much makeup on, you can rinse it off. If you're unhappy with plastic surgery, you have to get more surgery. Makeup isn't permanent and isn't meant to change what you have. However, plastic surgery is definitely meant to change you body. |

Some religions don't allow makeup, and are completely against cosmetic surgery. But if someone is considering these things, then obviously religion isn't affecting their thoughts.
I say they are really comparable since one is much more drastic than the other. You want your boobs as big as a couple of watermelons, do it. You want to slather your face with all sorts of make up products, do it. |

At the end of the day you can take your makeup off, but you can't pull out your breast implants.
I have nothing against plastic surgery, I just feel that it's not necessary for people who are perfectly fine to go get 500 procedures done. Someone who's been born with an abnormality and wants to seek help to get it corrected doesn't bother me. It doesn't bother me if someone wants to get something done (in the end they have to live with it)... but what does bother me is the reasons for it. I'd have to disagree with an 18 year old girl who wants to have a DD chest because she just does, but say that girl was born with a breast deformity and wants to natural and normal... I wouldn't have an issue. There are just some things that we can't change on our own no matter how healthy we eat or much we work out or how much sun we avoid. |

Yeah but sugrical (sp?) can be permenant, unless you get another sugery to fix the last surgery (geesh that sucks), where make up is removable.
Also, one could argue that makeup ENHANCES features you have. I also have nothing against plastic surgery, I mean that is what the person whats. I personally wouldn't get it unless I got into some sort of freak accident, then it would be considered. |

Well, you see. I think that plastic surgery is an essential part of any healthy relationship. I mean, women get old. They get wrinkles, cellulite, sloppins(really saggy tits) the foopa, roast beef, jowls, and even lines on their forehead. You see, for a man to be happy, these things need to be repaired. Why do you think plastic surgery matters so much.
I have heard that the Virginia Tech shooting could have been avoided if Cho's girlfriend had gotten plastic surgery on her face so that she looked more normal(a.k.a. Caucasian). Instead, she left him for that guy who thought she looked good the way she was. If only she knew that what she was doing was a sin. She caused 33 people to die (including herself). Cho was trying to help her. He knew that she would be much happier as a Caucasian and was more than happy to pay for her surgery. He was upset because he could have spent that money on himself, and she was being ungrateful by not accepting the kind gesture and running off with some man who wanted what was worse for her. He then realized she would be happier being dead. Cho killed her as a favor, and then killed many others who would have tried to stop him from killing her because he loved her so much. If only we could take from him and learn from his selfless ways. In some ways He and Micheal Jackson were very much alike. Both making an attempt to become more normal. Now do you understand? |

I've always thought these two were comparable.
I don't have that big an issue with plastic surgery if it's for a person who was born with a deformity and wanted it fixed. Surgery for stupid things, when you look fine as it is, that's something I dislike. Similarly I dislike people who wear vasts amounts of makeup that totally change their face so you can't recognize them without it. But I have no problem with a little eyeliner to enhance your eyes or blush to emphasize your cheeks. There's a difference. |

Too bad this is pointless because plastic surgery is not a sin.
People have been doing stupid things to cosmetically enhance themselves for a long, long time. Just think about it: corsets, foot-binding, breast-implants. Make-up also has been worn for a long time. And honestly, it's just easier to be attractive in a world like today, as shallow as that may seem. |
