QUOTE
Turf may keep Beckham away
By Associated Press
Thursday, August 9, 2007 - Updated: 02:03 AM EST

WASHINGTON - The playing surface at Gillette Stadium may dissuade David Beckham from taking the field when the Los Angeles Galaxy visit the Revolution on Sunday.
While Beckham was unsure about his playing status for tonight’s match against D.C. United at RFK Stadium, he had a strong message for MLS: Ditch the artificial turf.
Beckham said he’s noticed some things that are “not right” about MLS, and foremost in his mind was the fake grass used at four MLS stadiums. He said the fact that RFK Stadium has the real thing - unlike Gillette, which has FieldTurf - will be a “huge factor” in whether he will play.
“As a professional athlete, you can’t play a game like soccer on that sort of field,” Beckham said. “What it does to your body as a soccer player, you’re in bits for three days after that.”

Its all preference. Turf to me is a lot harder and slides will basically cause rug burns.

If you've ever played sports on a field made of turf you'd understand. Pretty much what kevin said, you slip or slide on it it hurts like a bitch.

he should take it then iono In my opinion he's a pansy. I mean the Galaxy paid him iono millions to play and the main reason galaxy games are selling out is because they want to see david beckham play. And he's not playing. well he only played 37 minutes since joining the galaxy. but yeah...
First it was the suppose "sore ankle"
And Now the artificial turf issue...
ugh he might be hot but hes a pansy for sure.

LoL, when you will be a football star, you'll understand all this whom in your opinion might be "small things" or "small issues", think about things like this, for one scratch he can't poze for an X advertising campaign which would pay him much more then those nubcakes. Also with that kind of reputtation i wouldn't play on that artificial shlt, it ain't real.

He doesn't give a shit about the money. He plays soccer cause he loves it. I don't understand what money should have to do with preference of choice. If I asked you to play rugby on cement, I highly doubt your answer would be yes.

For the amount of money he's getting paid he better get his incompetent British ass out onto the turf and play. Honestly, turf isn't that bad. I've played football on all different kinds of turf, and i was pretty much fine. And football is wayyyy more physical than soccer.

LoL, Soccer is the British name of Football, and YOU ARE WRONG! British Soccer its way heavier then w/e pingpong you're playing down there.
