Div ideas., Suggestions for designers. Options

I'm not sure if there's a topic that's similiar to this but I guess I would post since I've been seeing a lot of div requests. Just thought it would be a good topic for members to post in ideas for designers so maybe any of the designers would be willing to make one out of the ideas suggested.

So pretty much a thread that says "LAYOUTS YOU'D LIKE TO SEE ON CREATEBLOG" ? That I'm up for. But people need to understand that its not a request forum just a place to make suggestions.

As long as more people are for the idea, I say we make one. But it'd be inside the forums.. hopefully it'll get some looks but yea.

I think it should be in the designers cafe perhaps? Makes sense in a way and I think its a splendid idea I think we need it since people are still adjusting from the new cb4 update and there not being any request forums anymore.

I'm sure we can kind of set it up how the showcase topics are with the short rules and the main paragraph...

Then rules could list that its not a request topic but a suggestion topic.

I kind of like this idea and kind of don't. I can see it being very helpful, but being kind of chaotic. I can just see so many topics with random ideas. I feel a potential headache coming on? Not to mention the spam like, "OMG YESSS MAKE THIS PLEAAAASE!" and "MY FAVORITE PLEASE MAKE!"

^you have a point ricky, but i mean come on if you really think about it people still make request topics. Theres no way of getting completely away from it. At least now if you need a idea of what to make you have a useful topic to give you one ;]

I agree with Ricky's point. We all DON'T want that. Members who wants to address a suggestion, needs to do politely and be specific. So, keep in mind when making a suggestion... It's for cB, not for yourself 'cause that can be somewhat a pressure. I'm sure that not all the suggestions would be made.

Perhaps we could create organized discussions about what members want designers to create? Polls would add a nice touch, but then again the topics and ideas will be excessive.

This doesn't sound like a bad idea, the only problem is the whole worry about people getting the wrong idea and just posting requests all over the place. The forum would go best in the designer's cafe, as stated before. It could be a good way to get the input from what they want.

Wouldn't it be easier to have a request forum for this? Users would be informed up front that the request wouldn't necessarily be fulfilled... and they could post suggestions as well. I just can see where users will blur the line between request and suggestion, and we'd end up with tons of closed topics.

You're definitely right. This can be confusing. But members really need to understand that NO requests can be made in cB forums. Only suggestions are accepted. So, I guess this might not be a good idea...

See but with the old request forum, in the rules it did clearly state that your request may not be fulfilled and with a seperate request forum, its just a waste of space to be honest.

All they ever were before was a extra forum with topics that were never answered unless they were closed because they didn't meet the requirements. And even for those that did take out the time to fulfill those requirements didn't get their request done.

For this idea to work I think we just need to make a topic in the designer cafe called

"Layout Suggestions"
On the first reply to the topic have it look like something like this:

Layout Suggestions is to tell designers around createblog what members want to see on layouts. Themes, pictures, colors, etc. Although Please consider that replies will in no way be taken as request only as suggestions to designers. So there is no guarantee your suggestion will actually be made in to a layout.

I don't know, something along that. Just be straight forward.

Hey, your idea could work. But hopefully, members don't see it as the old request forum. Some people would just go and request without following the rules and that could mess things up.

But are requests really a bad thing? If anything, it could draw more users to this site, and more members to our community base. People are still making requests that we have to close now, so what would the harm be in bringing the requests back, and letting it be a place for suggestions as well?

Like I already said, its almost a waste of space because they never got fulfilled in the first place. I remember I use to go in there and I would be like the only person that said I would do a lot of the layouts >_< and then after a while it just got to be to much and I had to quit.

So thats the only problem i see with the request forums being brought back.

Also if you think the request forums are such a positive thing, then why haven't they been brought back with cb4? I never exactly got that? (why there wasn't a request forum in the design center)


Also whats the big and bad idea of someone coming in there and putting up a request...if their actually telling you the theme, colors, fonts, etc...then their just doing the designer a favor pretty much and telling them a completely new layout they could possibly make. The request would be taken in just as much as the suggestion. There isn't any guarantee it will be done but thanks for posting it in the topic pretty much.

A request center is the one thing that createblog has that most forums that are very popular do have. It just seems to make sense that we would keep with the competition if we had it. However, they had no post count rules, and generally no arguements in the threads. Nuclearcentury even has 7 pages full of a PAID REQUESTS section...

The fact that users are still trying to make requests when there isn't a forum in it anymore seems to suggest that there might be a need for it... if anything to not discourage the user by closing the topic, and to encourage others to join and post.

Yes although it does encourage people to join and post around to get those 50 posts, just think. How do you really think they felt after they just wasted their time posting 50 posts so they could just get their request put up...and then later never got anything after taking their time out from their day to get all those requirements...

Yeah, and I felt bad for those users too... I think if we got rid of that recquirement, then the people with those layout requests that were done would feel good about this site - a different way of encouraging, so to speak.

You posted in there saying that you were taking requests...o_O so aparently you can believe and will jump on the bandwagon so to speak.

I personally don't see a problem with people paying others to make them a layout...I think it would actually get more peoples layouts fulfilled around here.


Getting rid of the requirements I don't see a problem with that and giving people a positive to perhaps stay around and see if their layout request gets fulfilled or not...Also considering more than half of them don't come back to even see if someone replied to their request topic anyway..

I mean I couldn't believe that the forum had that many posts in it! There are that many people willing to pay! Haha, yeah I'm taking requests, but that's besides the point.

I know there are designers on here that would relish the idea of making money, and I know there are tons of users that like our layouts, so I don't see the harm either.

But a general requests (free) section would have to be created too.
