Renovation Nightmare: Mummified Baby Found Inside Walls
A man doing renovations on a home near Queen and Broadview made a grisly discovery after finding the mummified remains of dead baby behind two walls on Tuesday night.

Police responded to a call from Kintyre Ave., at around 8pm and later confirmed that the remains were human.

A resident who lives in the neighborhood says a couple bought the house about a month and a half ago.

Bob Kinghom, who lives nearby, was working on the home when he found the remains.

"You could see his skin and toes and his head," the rattled handyman recalled. "I didn't turn it over to see the face. I saw the hands and counted the fingers and said a prayer and came home."

"A hell of a way for a baby to have to go. No funeral, you know."

The baby was wrapped in a newspaper dated 1925.

The owners of the home weren't in the residence at the time of the discovery. The house is now considered a crime scene and an investigation is ongoing.

This is so creepy! It happened in Toronto, by the way. I wonder exactly when the baby was put there. 1925 may not even be the correct time.

That IS scary. Oh man. 1925? At first I thought the title said, baby found inside wails. But still, just the fact you found a baby is ohmy.gif

ohmy.gif That's horrible. Horrible horrible horrible.

I think the criminal used the 1925 newspaper as a diversion. How could a baby possibly be hidden for over 80 years? Children can't just be born and disappear without notice. And wouldn't it smell?

They should look through police and lost child records from 1925 just in case though.

Peculiar.. very peculiar.

Wait, what kind of mummification are we talking here? I don't think they're using the term literally. The renovator said he could see skin and fingers, so it's not all wrapped up. I think it was just hastily wrapped up in a newspaper and hidden in the walls.

ohmy.gif Wow!
Who would bury a baby in the walls?
You should post a follow up article when it comes out.
Goodness gracious.
If I had seen the face, I would've passed out.

I read in a newspaper on Saturday that the baby was four months old and an autopsy was going to be performed. I'll look up an article.

Found one.

The x-rays indicated there were no fractures, no injuries to the bones. We were able to determine that the kid wasn't stabbed or beaten or anything of that nature," he said. This appears to have been a "normal baby" he said, noting that it had no congenital abnormalities.

...

Although it's obviously 80 years old and it's got dark leathery skin, there's still 10 little fingers and 10 little toes. It's remarkably intact, considering the time that has gone by.

It's a newborn baby and most likely a stillborn.

Wouldn't like the scent of the decomposing body like... come through the walls or something? ew. Either way, that is really freaky. Why kind of person would do that... They must have put the wall back up on their own... it's not like they could put a hole in the wall, put the kid in there, and then get some guy to cover up the hole+kid. That'd be messed up.

When I first saw this topic I thought it had something to do with Egypt ermm.gif

If I found that in my wall while renovating, I would've packed my bags and looked for another place... that'd be too much for me to stay.
