THIS IS A CREATEBLOG PUBLIC SERVICE SPEECH. I REPEAT, THIS IS A CREATEBLOG PUBLIC SERVICE SPEECH. NON HIP HOP FANS FEEL FREE TO COMPLAIN AND POST BS THAT AREN'T EVEN TRUE!!
as you can see, hip hop didn't start out with "laffy taffy" and "snapping your fingers, doing your 2-step" ... Hip Hop isn't just hoes, money and drugs.... it's political, real, violent, hardcore, full of truth and the soundtrack to so many ppl's lives...Rappers shouldn't be disrespected, they should be look upon to. To understand how they struggled back in the day, understand what they fought through, understand their pain, understand the meaning in the lyrics with all your heart, and understand what they do and how they live. it's like experiencing new things through lyrics like if you went out and discovered some new interesting shit. if you don't understand it or can't relate to it, fine, but don't disrespect that art form... I dont understand Country music at all but believe me, I dont disrespect it in any way shape or form... I dont mind Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks, Tim Mcgraw or Brooks and Dunn.. but I never listen to Country music on my own.... but I don't hate on Country ever...but I'd rather turn down country and choose hip hop music cuz the music is stronger. you guys feel me? the truth is, everybody talks about violence in Hip Hop, the government calls out Hip Hop for violence and degrading women, but are the same losers trying to fight a war over NOTHING!!! and they say nothing about the things that kids can see in a movie or on TV, they single out and blame Hip Hop for violence, but I have seen Horror Movies with more blood and actual violence than any rap song can describe... get the fuk outta here with that Hip Hop is bad crap... Hip Hop is an art form!!!! i'm an asian that supports hip hop to the fullest!!!! got complaints??? post 'em here or support it with me!!! |

If you don't understand country music how can you say hip hop music is stronger? Cuz by just looking at it, you know hip hop artists deal with a lot of different areas in their lyrics. pain. what they struggled through in negative ways. how they re-act to certain shit that goes off. politics. violence. letting their emotions out on the mic. so many different things. it just has more in store for the audience than country. you know without even having to understand the music of country and such. |

Uuuuuuhhhhh pretty sure every genre has the same amount of songs about struggle, pain, and whatnot...
You think country doesn't have any songs about politics? ![]() If you're going to preach about being open-minded about hip hop, I suggest you give the same respect to any other type of music. |

shit all of y'all don't know the problems going on. Its sad that when some will blame music and lyrics for the actions of a few that will listen to it, however, i never hear people protestin and shit on some of the horror movies that come out on screens these days .... any music can be bad ... But the lyrics in hip hop and it's music, it's like a discovery. it creates of culture of people who that dont respect other people, that earning respect mean that you shot someone, or have a nice car, street credibility is only good on the street or in gangs. that's what they do. by trying to earn fame process by process eventually reaching a higher level. it's trying to escape from the bottom pit. hip hop and it's music can be seen differently to people who don't know the REAL FEELING of it, ya feel me .. There are more than just one rapper, more than just 20 rappers, more than just 50 rappers, there are A LOT A LOT A LOT shit that they have struggled with many different kinds of problems and how they re-act to it in a certain way ... Gospel and hymns, they both are a form of religious brainwashing and should be avoided... MEANWHILE, HIP HOP SHOULDNT BE. hip hop is something everyone should discover ... and feel the pain as well, and really get to the point in their minds, that hip hop (RAP) is powerful music.

We all know that I love hiphop. Hiphop is my life. Hiphop is my love.
But at the same time, it don't mean country can't be just as meaningful. Both genres have some real deeeeeep lyrics, and both genres have some artists we all would have rathered not shown up at all. But anyways. Hiphop is good for your soooul. Speakin of hiphop, who's going to Rock the Bells ? I should make a topic about this. |

Um, no? Yeah, we get the point that they have suffered, but the same can be said about the lyrics in almost any other genre.
And 'religious brainwashing?' That's BS. Plus, it's not like some hip-hop songs haven't talked about religion either. ![]() HIP HOP IS NOT LIFE FOR EVERYONE, KAY? KAY. |

Hip hop isn't life for me, but I don't think of hip hop in a negative way at all. ![]() But most of y'all fellas do. Two words. Hip Hop. What could it mean to a lot of people? First thing they might mention is hmm perhaps, rap music. That'll lead to the people's thoughts of rap music which would be mostly negative (trust me, I know rap is the most hated and controversial music in our country today) and they'll bash the culture of hip hop just from looking at the RAP MUSIC itself. Why? Rap is like hip hop's son. rap came from hip hop. Like I said, if people learn to strongly feel the lyrics in rap music, they'll give a bit of respect to it. But they just can't do it and it's usually the ignorant. |

Single parent she single handily shape and hold me When they tried to enslave me she train me how to set my soul free. Hip Hop is revolution. All that radio shit, that they claim is hip hop, honestly? I want a plague to kill all of them. They're all Uncle Toms, their music is shit. You got to know that REAL PEOPLE who like rap like rap because of the lyrics and poetry that's involved. Also the beats and how diverse it can be from Tupac to the Gym Class heroes. Ain't it interesting? It's just universal to me and may be to a lot of other people. Actually, I can say country is good too, and what do I have against it? Nothing. It tells stories just like rap does and involves all of the emotion. You just have to be open to listening to it and attentive to the lyrics. People just find Rap more interesting and it gets their attention more. They find it more FUN, EMOTIONAL, DEEP ETC. and they seem to get to the fact that they enjoy the stories more inside the lyrics of the songs than any other type of music. So I prefer rap but country is good too. Nothing wrong with liking them both! I'm a good dude! |

I love the art of hip hop. Yes some rap songs degrades women and talk about some violence but hip hop is much boarder than that like hip hop every genre has it's flaws. We have close minded people like Bill O'Reilly (Not only close minded when it comes to hip hop but most things) that puts rap down ever chance he gets. But like you stated he never mention Metal music, some metal music promotes satanism but not all because I listen to it. He never mention these video games. A long time ago a little baby by the age of two went to day care and had a gun and shot a little girl his age and expected her to get back up. That's a good example of the damage video games did because the little dude get shot he get another life. That kid didn't understand that it's just an video games and not real.
What I am saying is hip hop isn't all the blame. But I do agree with some of you and the topic starter(Some things you stated). |

I know you keep saying that you have nothing against country or whatever, but how come it always sounds like you're putting rap as the superior genre? Just wondering. Rap music in general.. has taken over United States. I've been to Kentucky and seen Redneck wiggers for God sakes lol. Rock n' roll's technically dead with all these groupie pop artists that blend metal with backstreet boys type music, country died long ago because of mainstream and their depressed lyrics about their dogs dying, their wife and kids leaving him, or fallin in love blah blah (no offense to country of course) and crapp music like Brittney Spears, Nelly, and that real serious wigger Fergi (how ever her name is spelled) makes people laugh... they're a bunch of jokestores. Plus... hip hop is worldly known. Don't get me wrong though, I listen to Metal, Hip Hop (not mainstream), Punk, Classical, old school R&B/Jazz, and oldies like The Zombies/Beatles. The music you listen to on MTV/BET/VH1/Radio is crap... it's all shit, same shit different person/voice... makes me wanna throw up. Just sayin... |

But It has nothing to do with me thinking negatively about it. I understand it, and yes It has great background(and so do other genres aswell) I just don't believe that it's what some of us live for etc.(Including Hip Hop as a lifestyle.) |

Every genre of music can touch different areas. Every genre of music has the capability of being blamed for the actions of those who listen to it.
I honestly don't care what people listen to, if I don't like... I'll let you know and you can turn it off. Every genre of music has stereotypes that come with it. I honestly don't think that anyone should make a type of music their lifestyle; that's ignorant. |

Don't get Hip-Hop and Gangsta Rap confused Hey Jason--if they don't like it, chuck up the deuce Don't try to force it down their throats...let people have their own opinion i agree. and first of all, your telling people that it didn't start with 'laffy taffy'. then why don't you tell 'em the whole story, since your already into it? sugarhill baby, that's all everyone needs to know (: |

Instead of going on and on about how theres story in hip hop, and pain and strife, as if other genres of music dont have that, why dont you actually talk about the history of hip hop, and where its roots come from. I haven't read one thing in your posts that actually educates us about hip hop. You dont think other genres of music have pain and suffering in them? You dont think there are politics in other genres? Excuse me. What about Rock? Jazz? The Blues? R&B? If a song in ANY genre isnt about love, its about two things: Pain and suffering, or politics. Unless of course you count the %60 of the current generations hip hop that just talks about hoes and how much money you got, and shooting people in the street. Hip hop is quite possibly the ONLY genre of music that has such a huge percentage of songs about violence and sex and vulgarity. Now dont get me wrong. I am a hip hop enthusiast. I listen to mostly hip hop. This generations hip hop? No. OLD SCHOOL? Yes. f**k Yes. I'm talking about the early 90's. |

Hip hop is quite possibly the ONLY genre of music that has such a huge percentage of songs about violence and sex and vulgarity. Don't forget about Metal. Matel talks about sex and drugs and partying all night and women and satanism (rap music don't talk about satanism) and violence too. In rap music. The talking about violence and women has died down since maybe 4 years ago. I should know, I'm a hard core hip hop listener and I listen to the rap music NOW. Yes there is a couple songs about women. But most songs now is talking about relationships and dances (i.e The Aunt jackie, The Superman, Dutty Wine, Heel Toe, 1,2 step, Chicken Noodle Soup, etc, etc). |

I think music in general is an expression of oneself and the times
I think that laffy taffy and all of that is expressing the sexually active times that we live in. Yeah, it's not great hip hop, but it's hip hop. |

If you're dumb enough to say that you obviously havn't listened to enough hip hop. That or the radio is your #1 source for new music. agreed or u live in some little town because if u live in a big city u should see underground hip hop constantly. at least in Brooklyn u do. hip hip is dead ON THE RADIO, yes, i pretty much agree. besides a few good songs here and there. |

Yeah, it's not great hip hop, but it's hip hop. Agreed. Can we just end it by saying it's all music in the end? Some of it is just good times, some can describe hard times. It all comes down to personal taste, but no one should say one genre of music is the root of all problems and every genre deserves respect. |

this topic is boring already.
do you understand that hip hop is a form or art (i.e. music). and artist needs to express himself. an artist that paints and draws expresses himself by painting and drawing, and sells those paintings for money because they need to live. A hip hop artist expresses himself over a beat, and some dope, or not so dope lyrics. they also need to sell themselves, and their lyrics to america, like the painter does to his audience. if the hip hop artist does not sell themselves, then they won't survive, like the painter who did sell his paintings. now can we move on...what about those politics..geeesh |

Sure some hiphoppers make good music and have suffered. I respect that, it's just not my music.
But I HATE commercial hiphop with those big guys having lots of naked girls and rapping about sex and money and violence. And mostly i hate the way that they make young boys and girls look up to them and act like they do in the videos x_X |

its reality you may not like but it happens, some people describe hip hop as just vulgar music with sex, violence, drugs etc. for those that like rock some people complain to it as just bunch of noise, and full of emo people. it's the same concept if you think about it, theres always going to be something that someone will complain about a genre of music, but music is music theres many ways to make music, and if all music were the same dont you think it'd be boring? thats why many genres exist, hip hop is just also a genre of music where a lot diverse people enjoy, especially how it's getting famous not in america but also through out many other countries, don't think of hip-hop as just vulgar music that you see on TV, and we wont think of rock/punk as full of emo people that hate the world.

don't think of hip-hop as just vulgar music that you see on TV, and we wont think of rock/punk as full of emo people that hate the world. agreed 100% also i think the problem with this thread is we all have a diff opinion of what hip hop is. to me hip hop is a completely different genre than the music on the radio dealing with sex, money, ect. they aren't even similar in my opinion, the beats, the lyrics, the subject matter is completely different. |

Ok sorry to add fuel to the fire here but what else would you get from my first sentence alone? I dont care if you speak it on a daily basis. I DONT even speak it on a daily basis even if my parents are speaking it ot me. Why? Because I'm in america. This is an American forum where there are a majority of American people who dont f**king speak french. You think you're insults are more effective in french because people dont understand what the f**k you're saying? It makes you even more pathetic because it seems like you already know your blows wouldnt quite cut it if people actually understood you, so you have to type it out in french just to confuse people.
And that's just an insult to French as a language alltogether. Using it to get a one-up on some unsuspecting American... that's just foul. |

Quit trying to play the 'boss' when you're nothing but shit. Quit trying to tell people what to do. I can see you're bored so why not try posting some feedbacks in the feedback forum? Why not attack the mods? You're pretty good at that. This topic is about freaking hip hop and not about the French language. Stop bringing up unnecessary fights just because you feel the 'need'. Go make a layout, go make graphics, go do something worth while. Boring little infant. Just for your fcuking general information, French is my way of life. I mix French when speaking English, I insult more in French. It is nothing deliberate, that's the way I FREAKING AM. Although, I could care less about your opinion. From now on, I will insult you in French, report me, make a topic about this ... ![]() You're really brave you know, coming back and all. Take a break to make up another mind blowing story, I'm getting bored of your childish acts. |

I see it like this I WANT SOME MONEY TOO. I don't care how much money they have. |

It is my personal opinion that most hip-hop I hear today makes my ears and mind feel like they're about to permanently shut. That is the reason I do not like to listen to it. It is not my OR my ears OR my mind's preference. :]

are you kidding me? you really think party like a rockstar is hiphop? i dont think any of those song's can be called hiphop. AT ALL. simply because its all hip-pop. feel? it's all that mainstream ish that you can play in the clubs. but its garbage. idk what else to say to defend myself, im kinda out of it. but mainstream, isnt hiphop. not one bit. the closest person on there, i would say, would be timbaland. sorry if you disagree. much agreed. gawd, what has come to this world, where people are getting there music twisted. and that show on mtv the TOP MC?! wtf. common was number 9 or something? Haha Paulina are you trying to style on me? ![]() I'm not going to sit here and lie. I like a bunch of those songs aforementioned honestly. And while songs like these are not true to their hip hop roots, its still qualifies as hip hop. Hip Hop is the one form of music where you can truly speak your mind without any limitations. Whether it be about sex, drugs , money, alcohol, life , conscience, etc. Hip hop is the reason why artists from other genres are able to speak their mind with no limitations. I bump mainstream to underground, doesn't matter to me. Many people consider BIG, Eminem, and Pac hip hop, but yet they rap about all the same things the so called rappers killing hip hop rap about. Pac and Biggie used bitches and hos in their songs and represented the thug life, so why are they considered real hip hop artist? Is it because they have songs besides ass shaking that tells a story that others can relate to. Because if so, I can give you songs where TI and Ludacris have given us songs that were inspirational. TI ft. Jamie Foxx - Live in The SKy Ludacris ft. Mary J Blidge - Runaway love And thats not all. I've even heard Kanye talk about hos in his song, but yet he is highly respected. Not saying these artist aren't dope, I like every artist I mentioned. And for the record , 50 cent was a much better artist when he was on the mixtape scene before he got the deal. Furthermore you have Fabulous on the countdown, who drops multis that will more than likely tear apart most underground rappers you listen to. Don't underestimate this dude , he drops dope lines. QUOTE( Fabolous) I play them diamonds well when I got dat jewelery on, They should call the Parrykeater, or canary bonds, Very dope line when you think about it. I respect your opinion , but I disagree with it to an extent. The reason why I've always been fascinated with hip hop is because you can pretty much go in any direction with it. Hip Hop is more than just the music itself. From the fashion , breakdancing , graffiti, music, on further down. This is why I never really try to determine what real hip hop is, because in Hip Hop you have freedom. |

But i really agree with what you said. It is fascinating because of how much you can get from it. They're are hella aspects, and that makes the culture so real & cool. & Yeah Lil' Wayne #1, oh no. Why is it that his mixtapes are better than his actual albums? you know something is wrong when you get a mistake that big. |

And I agree his mixtapes are better than his actual albums. And LOL at him being number 1. I swear he can say just about anything and people will be amazed by it. He is like on my rappers that make me laugh list , which include 5. Jim Jones 4. Juelz Santana 3. Young Jeezy (Ayeeeeee) 2. Cam'ron 1. Lil Wayne But he still cool though. |
