Mmkay, so I really want to shave my head. I've met one person who supports me, and she's shaved her head before. I've had a few people tell me that the hair never grows back the way it was before - it grows back thick, less shiny, and tougher. But the girl who has shaved her head tells me that it grows back healthier.

So, uh, what happens?

I would think that it would grow back healthier since it's like...new hair and all the breakage would be gone and stuff...

people might think you're pulling a britney spears though...

^ Haha.

One of my friend's friends got a temporary job working in the care unit for children who have cancer, and as a result of getting treatment lost their hair and they were very self concious of it (more than an adult would be) and since they looked up to her she said that anyone could be fine without their hair and she shaved her head to show them that it's true.

Wowww.
Haha well I guess it'd be easier to ask a boy. ohmy.gif

But uh..man in 8th grade I was going to shave my head (I wasn't really, but I told people I was) because I was figuring out how much money I would save on hair products. No straighteners, perms, presses, brushes, combs, clips, moisturizer, headbands shampoo, conditioner and all that stuff. But I would never do it, haha

Dang, sorry I didn't help you at all. mellow.gif
OH, I forgot about that! I asked a few boys who had shaved their head (not too hard find), but none of them ever bothered to notice if it came back healthier. mellow.gif

And actually, all that just motivated me to shave my head. XD.gif

Mhm, which is a BIG reason people think I'm insane. It's really not a need to rebel - I just can't stand taking care of my hair for now. shrug.gif

Yes, i think it would grow back healthier if you did.

Yeah, it would be cool to have no hair...think about how much money i'd save! and no brushing hair in the morning...no having to straighten it...aah!

Well, if you do end up shaving it, post pics !

Good Luck~! (:

I'd cry if I had no more hair.. And I'd look like a boy, so I'd never consider. I guess it would grow back healthier since it is new hair and all.. But you have nice hair, Kaycee. cry.gif

I'm only sure it grows back differently. It could be more healthy, or it could be less smooth.

Haha, I've wanted to shave my head, too, but I love long hair, and I don't want to wait for my hair to grow out again.

i think people would support you more if it was for a good cause? there was a big thing around awhile back where i live, where girls shaved their heads (and got people to donate money and support them) for cancer. all the money went to good causes.

at an All-Women's college, I've met so many people who've shaved their heads. Some people can really pull it off, and it depends on the shape of your head. From what I've seen, it grows back fine, if not better.

I don't know...
Cause personally, I'd never want to shave my head. XD
But I guess it's low maintenance that way.

your hair grows back more or less the same. the hair would only have MAJOR changes if you lost your hair not by shaving (i.e, chemotherapy and scalp damage).

although hair grows back, remember, it grows back slowlyyyy. so its a huge commitment. i suggest you go to a costume store and ask for a bald cap. it should give you a good idea of how you bald will look.

if you do shave it, maybe you can braid it up and tie it together. then when you shave it, it's a nice bunch and you can donate it to locks of love.

Unfortunately, my hair's not long enough to donate to Locks of Love (ten inches, right?). I've donated before, but right now I'm trying to find other organizations that except less long hair.

it might be hard to do that. cause it takes multiple bunches to make one wig. and most bunches are stripped of a lot of bad hair. but according to donateyourhair.com, short hair might be used to make testing wigs. this allows the organizations to get income money so kids can get wigs for free and it prevents animal testing. check for those kinda organizations.

btw, if you're tired of caring for your hair, one thing might make it easier. dry shampoos keep your hair clean between real ones.

Um, byyy the way, referring the hair growing back, how slowly did you mean? sweating.gif

asian hair can exceed a hair growth rate of 1-2 cm per month.

I know a girl that shaved her head for the hell of it. Not completely bald, but really, REALLY short...like about 2 millimetres in length. It grew back normal looking to me...

Nope, she loved it. She managed to pull it off quite well actually. Her hair is back now though to a few inches above her shoulders.

my sister wants to shave her head. i don't necessarily support it because she has such beautiful hair. it's thick, long, massive curls & just beautiful. i would imagine it'd grow back healthier, but i'm not quite sure.

i don't think i could shave my head.. i would never be able to pull that off.

okay sorry that was pointless. shrug.gif

Sweet. Plus it's summer, so now you won't have to worry about your head being a solar panel!!

I wish I had the balls to shave my head. My mom would never let me anyways. I hate my hair right now...

I would think it would work the same way as leg hair. The only way it would grow back like, better is if you pulled it all out and made new roots. It would definitely be thicker; it would work the same as shaving -- when you shave, you cut it at that point, and since hair grows out to a point, the part of the hair that is closest to your skin is bigger, like an upside-down ice cream cone.
