BE THE ULTIMATE MYSPACE DESIGNER!
Do you want to be the best Myspace Designer? Compete and be the Last Myspace Designer Standing!

Here's the Down Low: Designers submit a layout based on a theme chosen by the judges for a round. After the deadline hits, the judges convene and eliminate one contestant. So, after each round, one designer will be eliminated. The last Myspace designer standing, will recieve a pretty sweet prize: A choice of a subdomain or a graphic/layout designed by judge of your choice.

When signing up understand that these rules apply during the competition rounds:[/b]
1) No use copyright images
2) It cannot be a layout made in the past or submitted anywhere else
3) Must be appropriate content and fit the theme
4) After each round, remaining layouts must be submitted to cB
5) Submissions cannot be just an image, they have to be coded as well

Anyone can sign up! It would be a good idea to have some working knowledge of both standard layouts and DIVS, but that isn't recquired... at least for the initial rounds, for sure.

Judges for this contest are:
  • Rachael (digitalfragrance)
  • Kristina (flardnarf)
  • Michelle (Mulder)
  • Toya (freeflow)
  • Kiera (mzkandi)
So sign up! Everyone can participate, but please answer the questions so that the judges have an idea of what you are capable of as a group.

The deadline is two weeks from today: Friday, June 29, 2007 by 11:59 PM EST

Use this form in your reply:

Um, you all know who I am--formerly known as Azarel. It's summer, and I'm miserable because there's nothing to do. Adobe Photoshop is my poison, and as for experience? Not too much, but I manage.

I don't want to join... but can I be a judge?

Since all the mods are judges maybe it would be nice just to have a member?

I'm not trying to argue but she brought it up backstage so that everyone can review it and see if its ok. If you want I'll drop out as a judge so that you guys can be satisfied with a member. What is the difference between a mod and a member? Oh woop dee doo we have powers. What will the powers have to do with the contest? Since having all mod judges is a big deal I'll speak with Rachael and I'll drop out and you can get a member.

Another thing half these people might not stay and another thing people don't always do the first round and end up dropping out to you anway. Its your choice and everything but the reason about mods being a judge is kind of retarded. pinch.gif

When someone can describe to me the difference between a mod and member being up there and its valid and not stupid I'll understand till then you guys are on your own.

The only reason Rachael doesn't want to just add Holly is because there were more people that wanted to be judges but they couldn't do it. I think the original number was four judges anyway. Its not about her qualifications or anything. Its just to be fair to the people that couldn't do it. But its ok because I already PMed her about it and one of the members of her choice can take my place anyway. Its just common that people don't do , forget or are too busy to do the first round and we just keep going. It might not happen in this but its happened in so many I'm just expecting it. happy.gif

QUOTE(ThomasC @ Jun 25 2007, 04:31 PM) *

No, Toya. You're right. There isn't a differance of judges being all mods, or all members. I would just say that Holly is qualified, and Rachael is turning her down, becuase she wants the perfect 5 judges.. Can't we be rational and have 6? And with your point that many contestants will drop out in the first round because they won't make anything. But with that, you will have people that want to join within the first round.

I think that would be unfair to the other people who want to judge but got turned down if Holly was promoted a judge on the spot. Wouldn't you think so? If they were allowed to expand the number of judges to 6 for one person... then why not expand it to 7 for someone else who wants to judge. And while they're at it.. expand it again to 8 judges for another.

I think the number of judges set at the moment is fine. No need to go changing things.

okay well if I can't be a judge, I mean I don't really care but I don't think its very good for all the judges to be mods. It just doesn't seem fair.

So I mean change the judges to make it fair.

I mean you just showed that you were biased towards the mods more since you had so many choices and you stuck it to the mods only.

Also why not only get people that actually know what their doing with myspace stuff.

Wow you guys totally got the wrong drift. I think it's terrible because that you guys would drop out because of the judges... you guys obviously have no confidence in us.

I'm not limiting it to "the perfect 5 people" - Holly is more than qualified. The problem is convenience. With more than 5 people (I originally only wanted four) it gets hard to get all of the comments and ideas from everyone on a timely basis. I had issues with LxS with only 4 people, once Kristina decided to step down in the middle of the contest. LxS ran just fine with all mod judges, until we had a member, and then it was hard getting info before the next round started.

What I pride myself with LMDS is timeliness, and keeping things running smoothly. It's all convenience. Seriously, nothing more.

The reason mods are judges is for member participation... and Holly, I'd love to see your stunning layouts in the contest if you want to sign up.

I, too am failing to see why mods being all judges is such a big deal. Are you afraid they're going to favor any other mod people that are in the compeition? I won't do it then, no big deal, seeing as I'm the only mod person doing it so far. What's the difference, really? Why isn't it fair? I wanted to be a judge too and I'm pretty sure I'm qualified, but I couldn't, so I decided to just do it. But I won't if it's seriously THAT big of a deal. Not a problem.

Wait a minute! Shouldn't there be some restrictions on what you can use? I mean, it would be really unfair to some people that didnt have all the resources in the world, while, others that do have all the resources in the world, such as flash, and all that jazz. It would be kinda unfair wouldn't it?

Restrictions. In the first few rounds ( maybe one or two) there will not be any restrictions. Don't worry we're not idiots so if someone implicates flash it doesn't mean they'll win. Thats obviously not fair to people who don't have the knowledge. The contest will be judged fairly and more than one aspect of the entire profile will count. Seriously don't worry about the flash , etc type resource programs. I promise and guarantee you it won't be a problem. If its a voting round still I tell you guys not to worry. People are not stupid , you need to have a pretty darn good profile to pull it off. And with what I've seen people use flash to use it rather than to make it look good. Some do some have some trouble. Don't worry. Another thing as the contest goes on more rules and regulations will be in place. But we want you to have some fun not have to try to come up with something that fits the rules :)
