Cheerleading + dance team: Given you're not talking about super high level teams, just stay in shape over the summer... go for light jogs a few times a week, don't let your bum get too acquainted with the television. Have fun, and good luck! ![]() High school itself: Don't piss off the upperclassmen. My school kind of prohibits hazing and so it never happens, really, but I know other schools can get vicious sometimes. Just don't be too cocky around them, don't take their guys, don't be a slut, etc. Oh, and watch out for girl drama! Time to ditch the friends who you know are going to be stabbing you in the back. And make sure you keep up with the hw. Above all though... just enjoy it. Freshmen year can be tough, but you'll pull through and be amazed at how fast it went by. ![]() |

Highschool was more fun to me than middle school. I hated middle school.
Um. My only advice to you is don't become a boozy slut. Choose your friends wisely, be your own person, feel good about yourself and do what makes you truely happy. Rinse, wash, repeat. |

Don't try to stay with your junior high friends too much... They DO grow old after awhile. Make friends with your teachers. It makes you look forward to class more, or at least they will give you better teacher recommendations. Upperclassmen can be very friendly, so don't be too intimidated by them, but don't try to act older than you are either.
There's lots but... you can learn them on your own pretty quickly. It's all about changes. |

It's true. Everyone changes very quickly in high school, the fastest in 11th and 12th grade. You will be amazed and saddend.

Well, i just completed Freshman year and I'd have to say that it definitely WAS so much different.
Some tips: -Stay in your own territory. As in, Freshman Territory. Unless you have connections with the upperclassmen. -Become familiar with your school. The worst thing is to ask an upperclassman for directions to your classroom. -In high school you end up kind of finding out who are your real friends and who to actually trust. Especially at this time, watch out for evil people. It is also the time where people are really really wanting to get attention. Don't try to be one of those. And, it's also the time where people change dramatically. Try not to go in the negative direction. Good luck! |

3 years of high school. You should:
- Suck up to teachers for grades cause trust me, it works. - Don't show too much freshman spirit or you will get it in the face later from some upperclassmen. - Lose weight. - Try not to look too ugly. - Don't suck up to football players. - Don't suck up to football player's girlfriends. - Coming from the experience of a tennis player, never piss off tennis girls. They (we)will (have) beat your ass. :) |

Freshman year was the best year of high school so far for me. Be nice to the juniors and seniors. They will eventually start to like you and become friends with you. Then when you get in a bind, you'll have them to cover your back (worked for me).
![]() Be open to new people. Your friends WILL change, even if it's the slightest bit, and you might have to make new ones. If not, try not to say anything to piss them off or to get one of their other friends angry, because their other friends will tell them, which gets them angry with you, and will probably start a lot of stupid drama. Other than that, just do your homework and you'll be fine. |

I don't really think you can get great advice about going to high school...don't worry about anything at all. You should be going to school to get your education and thats all.. I guess you could be going for the social part but i really tried to stay away from that..
Don't care what others thing and don't start caring about the stupid drama situations that happen around you. Just stay out of them and you'll get through and do better in high school then a lot of other people. If your trying out for cheerleading or the dance team, first off don't be some stuck up bitch because no ones going to like you. I was friends with a few on the dance team at my old school and she use to throw a party for everyone that made the team and well the bitchy stuck up ones...well they weren't invited to anything and well everyone ignored them ![]() Oh and you have to be in shape...start running because most teams usually take a mile run before practice starts and if you can't keep up you may be kicked off. |

make friends. be genuine. work hard and get involved.
that is all! i can't say much about freshman year. everyone told me it was going to be horrible, but apparently i was the only freshman that had more upperclassmen as friends than freshman friends. mostly it's because i took advantage of middle school when i was a 6th grader and befriended pretty much all the 7th and 8th graders too, BUT don't make your older friends the only friends you hang around like i mostly did, because you will miss them like f**k when they leave. get involved in different things. do something academic extracurricular, something athletic, something artsy, but don't join everything there is. or well, just join whatever you're interested in and whatever you're good at. don't overdo it, or else people will think you're only doing it for your college apps. one from each sort of category is plenty. make friends like crazy... if you're in all honors classes, don't limit your friends to those. it's not a bad idea to hang with 'sketchy' people. you'll learn loads from them - just don't ever let yourself be considered as one of them. hang out with alll the crowds if your charisma can handle it. if you're doing cheerleading, learn how to tumble. blahblahblah. |

High-school is definitely more fun than middle-school! Especially if there are more people.
Look out for YOURSELF. Don't worry when people make fun of you for being a freshmen (it happens to everyone). Try not to get into drugs & alcohol, and just be yourself. Keep up with your school work, too! And make sure you make some good relationships with teachers, especially ones that you will have for more than a year. You'll need them later on for college recommendations, and being a good student in their class will definitely pay off. About cheer-leading and dance team: I would find someone who has already been on either team and talk to them about the try-out process and how the girls who were selected stood out. Just make sure you have plenty of experience and you know what you're doing. |

With highschool you is going to run into all KINDS of people so choose the right crowd to hang with. The upperclassmen can get a little harsh so don't get caught up in all that upperclassmen and lowerclassmen BS, it can be fun at times but you ave to know when to stop for the simple reason because some take it too seriously.
The fun thing about highschool is you have a lot of freedom, you can eat lunch with anyone you like and you don't have your teachers holding your hand along the way so you have to make decision on your own now. Good Luck and remember highschool is your best years(will it should be) ![]() |

Be nice to the upperclassmen, but don't suck up. Do you homework! A major must is to do your homework, because the thing about highschool is if you fail a class you take it over as many times as it takes you to pass it... and if you play your cards right you'll have an easy senior year.
Every school differs so just don't start any trouble amoungst your peers and with your teachers and you'll be fine. |

Tryouts are really important.
Impress the coaches, but don't be a brown-noser. As a freshman, you should not act like you own the school. Be respectful and yield to the upperclassmen, and they will be nice to you. Know your place in the social system, basically, lol. Just be nice and respectful to everybody. |

omg. hahaha. I am going into 12th grade - 3 years went by so quickly.
at my school, the upperclassmen don't pick on the freshman - so we don't have a problem with that. uh, I don't really know any advice though, when I started I immediately hung out with a big group of people and I started dating upperclassmen. [ not in a slutty way ] ... uh be yourself ? |

If I had to pick from Cheerleading and Dancing [such ballet] then Cheerleading. Or if it's Dancing such as hip hop go for that.
>Respect the upperclassmen or else...wham. >Be friendly. Since alot of Freshies are in your same situation as you. >Tryout in sports and clubs and such...Don't join mathletesor shit since it's really social suicided. >Don't come as a slut because that will stick. >Do your homework even during classes is possible. >Don't give into peer pressure. Yeah corny but it does happen. Choose your people wisely since you are going to stick with them for a long time until you get sick of them but that probably happens around junior year. ![]() |

^^ At my school, it's not social suicide to join mathletes or scholastic decathlon.
It just means you're smart and you're putting your intelligence to good use. |

aww so cute!!! i loved high school, funny cuz i went to an all girl's high school...ne ways.
yeah i would totally recommend joining a dance or cheer team. i cheered for the all boys high school freshman year and had a good time. definitely work out and get in shape cuz those teams are killer. watch out for the team's clinics before try-outs, they'll teach you the routines that you need to know to perform. if you haven't had any dance experience try cheerleading. if you have, go for the dance team (they were always way better than the cheerleaders, and looked better lol). but hey mostly have fun!!! make tons of friends and go out and see what high school's all about. yeah you'll get exposed to drinking and stuff but hey that's your own decision. just make friends and hang out with them, that's how i had the most fun. be yourself and enjoy every minute of it! |

Just chill and make friends with who ever. Try to socialize and network. Don't be scared of upperclassmen or anything, just don't pretend to be something you're not. Yes, they may tease you about being a freshman, but take it. Oh, and it's also good to know which friends have the same teachers as you, only earlier in the day so you can get test answers and whatnot.
![]() If you want to get on the team, be nice to the head cheerleader/dancer person watchamacallit, but don't kiss ass or anything. Try not to get involved in any drama that comes along with a bunch of girls being stuck together. Don't gossip. People will respect you for it. |
