Have any of you started writing a book or novel? I've started writing a book of my life and it's basically like a journal. I write in it everyday and will do so until my seventies then I'll try to get it published.

I have written books before, but they were more or less stories I wrote on a casual basis when I was like, 7. As of the moment I'm going through serious Writer's Block...

Yes. Off of my pathetic slap-happy humor and all my weird adventures in life & at target.

Not exactly one based strictly off me. I'd like to add in stuff. And not necessarily based off me, as a character.

Gah. I wrote myself in a circle. but, yes, i've started.

I've tried.. I always really wanted to as a kid, but things are different then. When your 11 or something, you just have no real idea what your writing and how to make it good. I would really love to get something started now though :) I just lack a starting point.

Dont you just hate it when you have a million ideas but cant seem to find a way to incorporate them all into one/something that makes sense? tongue.gif

I've tried writing a book... but it kind of failed. Whenever I start one, after two or three chapters it starts sounding like a stupid plot or something, so I give up. I just haven't really thought of an idea that I really love, or that I can really write about.

I totally agree.

I'm still young, and although I used to want to grow up and be a writer somewhat..I've lost interest in it. It would still be real cool if I had the talent, though.

Tried to, got far, and it got motherf**king deleted somehow and I got so f**king pissed because I got so far and it took me about 2 months to do. Gave up writing since, but I wanna start again. Just with a different storyline. Still working on the storyline.

Sometimes I write down my thoughts over a period of time, collectively. Perhaps I'll publish that so the world can see how sad my inner self is most of the time..

Yes... it's so hard. I like to write scenes/ chapters from books, but that's mostly all I ever can accomplish. T_T

ugh! yes!
i used to write all the time when i was in seventh/sixth grade.
i reallly want to start again
but i never really do.
i think my problem is, i always think of great plots that are like, historical fiction.
and im not into researching all of that stuff. ermm.gif

and yeah, i do keep a journal
but its wierd
i never really feel like writing like, a whole page about my day
so i just write words, and pictures, and stuff like that biggrin.gif

I keep a random journal that I write in at one of 2 times.
1)When something really big, or interesting happens in my life
2)When I can remember where exactly I put it.

I've tried to actualy write a book or novella but it never works out. I love writing, and Im told Im pretty good at it...but I either can't find a starting point, or I can't end it so I scrap it.

Maybe one day Ill attempt it and succeed but its lookin like that won't happen.

You should definitely try again! It's fun when you find something good to write about.

I used to love to write short stories. I don't think I could ever write a book, because books tend to wander and expand on ideas a lot and I'm not very good at that. I have a big imagination, so sometimes it's nice to write things down. I had to write a gothic short story for my English Lit final and I sat down intended it to be a few pages (like our teacher wanted) and I ended up with 9.

Whoa, that sounds pretty much amazing, Alvin. I'd buy it if you just picked out your favorite entries. I'm not quite willing to read 50 years worth of journal entries, but I'd love to read the ups and downs of Alvin's life, haha!

Yup. That happens to me all the time.

The hardest thing about writing a book is finishing it.

I've written short stories a plenty and am actually in the middle of writing 2 novels. It's all a matter of discipline: if you really want to be a writer, you have to train yourself to write no matter if you want to or not. Write every day (it doens't have to be about your book, or even be good) just as long as you get something down. Journals are a great way to do that, and i commend all of you who keep one (i can't keep one for some reason: as in I lack the drive. Just get something down, ideas and inspiration will come.

Yes I have mine is in the fantasy category but like my hero J.K.Rowling I am keeping it a secret till it is finished and have a copyright on it. All though I might tell my mother about it.

Yeah, I've written a bit of fan-fiction, and started recently writing something original. ^^

And for those people who are writing something, and then after a few days you lose faith in it, keep going. You can't write a perfect story on your first go. Get through it, get it DONE, and then go back and edit the whole thing.

I'm currently writing a book-novel-ish type thing.
It's a work in progress.
I'm *hoping* to get it published in another year or two.
<33
After which I'm working on the 2nd and 3rd books.
