Which operating system do you use, Mac or Windows?

Well I perfer Windows a lot more, becuase the features all better and convenient.
In school I use Mac bacuse my school tends to just like to order Apple computers.

Sadly I use windows on both my phone and computer.

I really wanted a mac operating system on my phone but the only one that was decent was the treo in my opinion and i didn't like it that much.

Anyway this should be moved to technology i'm sure.

For quite some time I've prefered windows over mac. Recently, however, I have come to like mac. Macs started out as being very very popular. Their downfall came when they didn't release their code so other companies could make programs that would work on their OS. Bill Gates gave it out quite freely and that's why Windows bloomed the way it did. Recently, however, Apple put out theirs, and have become increasingly more popular as almost every program you can get on windows can work on mac.
Also if you look Vista and the new Microsoft office programs have become more similar to Mac.
Also Bill Gates owns 30% of apple. Coincidence?

Ah, I've been saying that since ss's were first released. I'm so relieved that someone else understands what I mean!

Anyways, I have two PC's, three Linux's, and three Mac's. [My Dad's a huge computer nerd.] One of the pc's is just for my school shit, &it's never used anymore. The other one's really beefy, and I use it for gaming. I don't really use Linux, that's my Dad's thing. And, I use our Mac's for everything else. I'm on an iBook right now, lawl.

Mac's are sooo much safer than PC's. First of all, they're more secure because they're built that way. Second of all, because Microsoft's computers are so much more popular, there are so many more viruses for them. And, in my opinion, they're easier to use. The first computer I ever used was a Mac, and I was like.. five, or six.

Now, I'm not bashing PC's, because I use them for gaming. Just because pretty much all pc games are only Windows compatible. [With the exception of Blizzard's games, lawl.] And, because they're easy to beef up.

In all honesty, Apple is coming back, and in a big way. I frequent their website, and they have so much planned, it's really intriguing.

The new Apple commercials are hilarious, because they're so true.

You're coming to a sad realization, Cancel or Allow?
.. allow..

Yeah they're becoming so similar and have big plans partially due to a driving force (Bill Gates) lol.
As I previously stated he owns 30% of Apple's stock.

Also from what I've been told by my computer savvy friends, the Mac's cant get viruses. They don't use registry files the way windows does. Something else they told me, but in short it is impossible to make a virus on Mac's.

I'm running windows on my laptop, and I'm perfectly fine w/ it. There really isn't much wrong w/ windows and right now it's coming closer and clsoer to personal preference as they make each OS more and more similar.

@ your game statement. While previously Blizzard was prolli the major game supplier for Mac, ton's of other people have been making games for Mac AND Windows and releasing them at the same time allowing play between OS's for the masses.

Yes, I'm well aware of that. But, currently there aren't many [good] games out for Mac's. Which is disappointing.

Anyways, just because Bill Gates owns 30% of Macintosh's stock, it doesn't mean he decides what the company does. At all. If he has as much control as you claim he does, I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be so many pc-bashing commercials.

Apple has always done great. They're not getting better because of Bill Gates, they're getting bigger because they're realeasing more than computers.

Could you imagine if Apple came out with a game console? Zomg, no three red lights of death for Apple's console! hah.

I've been owning all Windows, schools I've been to have used Macs though.
I really want to try out a Mac, since the OS is much "safer" in terms of things like internet security. But I don't know. Windows is easy to use.

I'm not saying that Bill Gates is controlling Apple by any means. I would make a wager to say that his stock in Apple has influenced a lot of the new Microsoft features.

And actually, Apple has some damn powerful computers. They aren't necessarily aimed @ games, but they play games really damn well.

They do play games very well. But, The majority of games are for PC's. [Not all, but most.]

And, it's very easy to go out, and get a new harddrive for a pc, and install it yourself. Or an extra fan, or extra ram, or a great graphic card. But, not so much with Apple computers.

As much as I respect your opinion, I disagree with you. I don't think that Apple's changed their marketing, or projects, just because Bill Gates bought a lot of their stock. But, who knows.

Macintosh all the way!
It's super user-friendly once you get accustomed to it. I love 'Finder', which lets you search for documents, music, or other files really easily and quickly compared to on Windows. I also like how changing languages when typing is so much easier than on Windows, and how Mac is less succeptible to viruses than Windows. I've got to admit, it might be hard to find free programs for certain things for Mac, but overall, it's GREAT. thumbsup.gif

ffs. I didn't say Apple was changing. I said Microsoft was changing. :)
Also, if you go to any big game store, you'll notice tons of the games nowadays have both Mac/Windows on them, or a second version for Mac.

FFS!
Lawl, it alwas amuses me when people say that. You said something about Bill Gates owning their stock, therefore that impacts their decisions. I'd go back &find exactly what you said, but I'm sure you'll remember.

Anyways, no, not really. There aren't many games for Mac's. And, if there are second versions, made just for Mac, I wouldn't buy them, if I already had the PC copy. Games that are best played in high-definition are just more enjoyable on a PC.

K so I went back and found it, and what do you know, I never mentioned that Apple was changing due to Bill Gates' stock investment. I was making the implication that his interest in Apple was influencing the new changes in MICROSOFT. NOT APPLE.

Ditto. I absolutely HATE using anything but a Mac now. Windows is just too choppy and ugly for me. I love the smoothness and the features more on Macs. Also, they are great for film/journalism/music etc (basically the creative arts) majors.

I used windows until about a year ago. I used mac at school and instantly fell in love with it. All of the photo editing, video editing, the ease of use, i thought it was so much better than what i was using on windows. So i started to research the mac os and how simple the transition would be from windows to mac. Finally I decided to ask for a Powerbook for my birthday. I got it and I love it more than anything. I did have really high expectation that have since failed, but they are all simple things happen on windows daily when i use it. Sometimes an application my stop responding for a minute but it is quite rare. Macs are so much more user friendly windows in my opinion. If you're getting a new computer, i definitely recommend that you check out a mac. All of those ads you see on tv for them those are all so true. If you want a computer that doesn't have thousands of viruses, can do everything in one or two programs instead of 20, doesn't need to download software to recognize new hardware, and is pretty much the greatest ever look into mac. haha. Windows vista is even starting to have features that mac has had for the longest time now, so obviously they know what is good.

i use mac at home and windows at school.

i am a three week mac convert and totally in LOVE! i'll never own a PC again. and it's true. vista took a ton of their new ideas from the mac OS. brilliant, huh? oh, and my macbook pro starts in 20 seconds and makes almost zero noise. that alone makes me a very happy person. and it doesn't get hot at all. hardly warm. as for the OS itself, all the things i hated about windows are non existent and almost everything i wished windows had, tiger has. and, of course, if you like both, you can always buy parallel and run them both. what's not to love?

oh, Safari pretty much stinks, though. i'll take firefox any day, but that's easy to download.

you've obviously never gotten trouble for screaming "what the f**k is finder and why does it need my attention", spent 15 min looking for "shut down", or dealt with trying to find some option that's normally a right click option.

Spent fifteen minutes for looking for 'shut down'? First of all, Mac's don't 'shut down', they sleep. And, they don't even need to shut down, anyway. Rotfl.

right click is like ctrl + click, not hard. might be alt + click.

And it aint hard to figure out how to shut a computer down.

But knowing how to shut it down has nothing to do with how it runs and how user compatible it is.
