im not posting this for smpathy at all just for advice and to let others know not to take things for granted including your lives!! thank you for your time: please no negitive comments [thanks brook!]
yeasterday i was babysitting my little brother who is an epileptic and only 5 years old.
i was thinking of what the docor said about he might be paralyzed from the waist down by the age of 8.
heres a kid that would run off the walls if we let him.
only gets 2 hours of sleep because of all the meds hes on..
and they predict that he could become paralyzed!!!!
i was thinking here is this little kid who doesnt know what the world has in store for him.
and i wake up every morning worring about what im going to wear.
what im going to do with my hair
being mad at the world
still fighting with my best friend of 15 years!!
arrrggg!!
when here is this little boy who does what he is told
never talks back
loves to give hugs and kisses
and runs in circles trying to get dizzie!!!
i hate myself for thinking of just me
i should wake up in the morning being thankful that i am alive, and healthy.
I know now that i should stop and think more.
not get into those petty arguements with my sister over whos turn it is with the blowdryer.
And then i think what if there really is a god out there waching my every move.
will he forgive me for the petty things do.
did.
or will those taunt me. when im standing at the gates wih everyone eles waiting to get into heaven??
will he wach over my little brother.
does he guide my brother when he has 5 seziures in a row...making sure that hes still alive when there over.
does he sit with my mom in the hospital when she alone staring at my little bro while he sleeps making sure that he has no more seziures.
does he help my mom make through the day knowing someting could happen at any moment.
Last week my stepdad went to jail.
he was our familys rock
kept us from ripping of eachothers heads off.
my mom was finally happy.....
did god do this??!!
now to watch my mom cry is heartwrenching
But life is way tooo short to waste tears on a lost cause!!!
so i dont cry..i dont scream..i dont smack people.
i just...wait
wait for a answer..
while my little sister [13] locks herself in her room with the music on high.blocking out reality!
my 5 and 9 year old brothers play outside.
and my mom crys in her room so no one hears her.
i wait ......
because life is too short to predict whats going to happen...
so i let it come 1 day at a time......

ohmy.gif Awww just pray that there is a God who watches over all the little children.

I think the point of her post is just to give people a reminder to not take life for granted...
So...don't be so harsh!!!

^Yes, you're a nice person aren't you.

Chell-chell... sounds like you're going through a really rough time. sad.gif
You could always talk to a counselor you know... if you're finding it too much to deal with.
Or I always go on really long, strenuous runs when I feel like I'm about to crack.

I hate the feeling of taking things for granted... yet I always find myself doing it anyways. I think EVERYBODY does it at least, occasionally, but it's good you recognize that you do it, instead of being ignorant to it.

I'm sorry that you're ignorant.

And chell-chell, I too am going through similar situations as well. Last week, my dad went into a coma and I realized how I should be appreciative of all the nice things I have. I totally stopped caring about what I looked like and what I wore. Before, I was really self-conscious and selfish. I always wanted more clothes, more makeup, things that made me very vain. But now, I just pray for my dad. Right now, I'm trying to be a better person and maybe in exchange, I can get my dad back. I realize that there are some people who are wondering if they'll ever get that job to bring food to the table, and some people who wonder if there's a cure for their illness.

I know it's hard, but it's best to be optimistic and help other people around you (in this situation, your mom) to feel better. Good luck and I honestly hope things get better for you. And hey, PM me if you want to talk.

Best thing to do is pray, and be there when he needs you.

That touched my heart. Sometimes, I forget how lucky I am to be healthy. I hope the best of luck to him.

I feel this is more appropriate in the Lounge. If you disagree, feel free to PM me about it.

I'm sorry to hear that sad.gif But, it is really true.
It's things like that that make us realize how much we take for granted.
Life is hard, and when life is hard.. I pray. And yes, God forgives everyone. _smile.gif You don't even half to believe in God, but just believe in something. Hope. You have to have hope, sometimes it makes all the difference.

It's NOT wrong to want to look pretty or to spend time grooming yourself. It's not wrong that you focus on your own problems, after all, how can you help anyone else when you can't help yourself? This is feeling guilty for the wrong reasons.

It is wrong to always focus on your problems and forget that others have theirs. It is wrong to want to look pretty and be mean to those who are not as blessed. This is called arrogance (among other not-so-nice names).

People take things for granted all the time. It's a very human mistake.

I agree with most of that but not on the human bit. Just cuz alot of us do it, doesn't make it human at all. When I was a kid, yeah I did take things for granted but even at a young age I realized fast and hard how lucky I am. Yeah I had a crap childhood but I still had my health and my mind as well as my dreams and goals.

You know, I have to say that alot of people in my life and people i've met do take everyday things for granted and then when they see something that reminds them of this, they either ignore it and carry on or take minute out to ponder then carry on. Either way i've realized that alot of people are not mindful nor do they truly realize how lucky they are. I could give a few hundred examples but that wouldn't be worth it.

Well when I was a little kid I did take things for granted...I think alot of us did. My parents always tried to get me everything I wanted.

Looking back on those days, I feel kinda mean, even though I know my parents did it because they were happy if I was....and they wanted to do eveything they could for me. Their attitude hasn't changed, but mine has. Now, it makes me feel happy when they're happy. And I try not to take things for granted because I know that I'm lucky with what I've have.

What I mean is, it's a human mistake so don't beat yourself up for it and move on. If taking things for granted isn't human mistake, then what is it? Everyone is guilty of it at one time or another. Have you heard of "to err is human"? =) It doesn't mean it's okay to do it, no, it just means you make a booboo, you need to learn from it and move on.

Just remember to always be there for him and help your mom out as much as you can.
After my 11 week old niece died last October I realized that I need to stop taking life for granted and that my life could be over just as fast as hers was. It's like God snaps his fingers and someone's gone.

I've asked my mother, why bad things happen to good people. She tells me, god is just testing you. Its look like god is an unfair grader. sad.gif

I feel great sympathy for you.

Thats not the point. Her point is to stop wasting what little time we do have, and focus on whats important; living life to the fullest and not focusing on pointless stupid shit.

^ I think what she's saying, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that life's too short not to experiment with drugs. Even in moderation.
