2 codes i need help with, can anyone identify them?? Options

i have these two codes in my layouts but i already forgot why i put them there and when i take them off i dont notice any differences can anyone identify them and tell me what they do please and thank you

The first one hides your top# friend images and links as well as your ____'s Latest Blog Entry text.

The latter hides whatever div class is identified as "hide," usually used in correlation with an additional piece of coding put into your heroes section, as shown in this script.
