When someone says you're photogenic, how do you take it? Do you get offended and think that they're calling you ugly in person or do you take it as a compliment?

I just smile and say thank you, then realize that pretty much everyone compliments everyone else on their pictures, and yet act negatively about their own.

I tend to thank them, and wonder if they need an eye exam plus a shrink visit. But either way I tend to be polite about it and let them think what they wish..especially since I don't do many pictures of myself anymore.

I'd be confused wondering whether I should take it as a compliment or insult. It's like "Oh, you take great pictures, but your face IRL is just horrible." Or maybe they just think that's a really great picture of you. Dunno.

Just because someone says your photogenic does not mean that they are implying you are ugly in person.

sometimes they mean something different.
my teacher said i was photogenic cause i had a good smile and looked the same way in every picture. and i didnt know cause to me photogenic meant that u were good looking esp on pictures.

but i take it as a compliment. i dont see why i would be offended.

I usually take it offensively... Because I almost always take bad pictures, so I'd assume that they're being sarcastic or something.

that's odd. this is the second time recently the issue of whether or not photogenic is an insult...

photogenic doesn't mean you're pretty in pictures but ugly IRL. it just means you translate well onto film. the beauty pagnents have the miss photogenic award. it's given to the girl who takes the best pictures. i know some really pretty girls who take...really...bad pictures.

Whether I believe them or not is a different story.
For some reason I always feel more self-conscious
after a comment like that.
