Has anyone here gotten straight a's in their high school year? (for the current high schoolers or graduates) .. don't care if your freshman or senior. Well new marking period just started last week, and i'm just trying to start off fresh. My parents said if I get straight a's, and at least B (which'll be fine with them), they'll move back to my old city and make me get anything I want which would be one hell of a heaven. To you guys - - - How hard is getting straight a's and one b, honestly? I am a freshman, and I really dislike studying (unless there's a big test the next day) and reading. Other things distract me from doing those things like hanging out, other social plans, computers, tv, ipod, etc etc ... also please tell me what I should to achieve this goal. This is the last marking period (4th marking period) for me to totally change my life and it'll end around June.

No, actually. If your oil is leaking excessively then that probably most likely means that your piston rings are worn.
Replacement is suggested. |

No, I've never gotten straight A's ever since entering my high school. That's okay with me, though. Some subjects are really difficult for me so if I feel like I've done well enough, I'm okay with that.

If you're smart, you can get by without studying or working at all, really. I'm a sophomore, and I get straight A's while never doing homework and studying very rarely.
I just catch stuff quickly, and if I don't, I cheat in cold blood. |

Well, I'm a junior in high school and I've gotten straight a's 6 times since I've been in high school. We only have 2 semesters each year, which means 4 classes a semester. We're on block schedule. I wish we weren't on block schedule. If we were, we'd get A LOT more done.

I got straight A's from 9th grade to 11th grade. I don't remember it being that hard...then again, I was a lot more dedicated back then! Now that I'm a 2nd semester senior, I really don't care anymore :x

Like Suzzette, it's a matter of determination and motivation. You've the second, now it's just a matter of getting the first. Figure out your priorities and stick to it. Make as little as exceptions as possible. I only got straight A's freshman year, and I know for sure that had I just gotten off my lazy ass all the other times getting straight A's was well within my reach.
It's good that you know that you're distracted, some people won't even admit that much. Give up the distractions (seriously, I've given away my iPod to improve my grades) and you'll see the difference. |

It has never happened to me, during middle school I have straight A's and one B for PE.
Do B's in AP classes count? That way in my high school years I only receive B's in English honors and PE. |

If you really want to move that badly, tv and the internet and stuff is NOT worth getting distracted by. Do that later, when you get what you want.
Last semester has been my worst so far - a 3.78 gpa. But I haven't had a straight 4.0 since like 7th grade. ![]() |

I've gotten straight A's on my last 3 report cards. You just have to pay attention in class so you know what you're actually doing. It's a lot harder if you don't pay attention in class and then try to study, than if you pay attention in class and review what you went over in class.

Psssh, I got straight A's back in junior and senior year in high school, all 4 semesters total. It was pretty easy. OMG senior year was sooooo easy to get straight A's! It was like, I barely did any work at all, except show up to class! I think the teachers were just lazy and realized that we were all suffering from senioritis, so just showing up meant you cared, and the work was extremely easy.
I don't get anything for my striaght A's. Maybe like, 20$ if I mention it to my parents, but they could care less, as long as I wasn't failing... Failing being a C. I guess my parents weren't academic nazis like other Asian parents were. |

Never had straight A's a day in my life.
Sure there were a couple A's, but never in every single subject. Most people try really hard to get good grades in 9th-11th grade and then slack off in 12th. I'm backwards. I never tried that hard in 9th-11th grade but I've had all A's and B's my senior year. But since I'm in my second semester in school I only have one class (math). And I SUCK at math. But the seniors have 17 more days of school so I don't really care about my grades right now; we need 44 credits to graduate and I have around 56. The subjects where I always had A's in were anything to do with English and Writing and Film Study. "Class for the Movie Buff" (the actual name of the course) was my favorite. 100% on every assignment. |

If you can't get straight A's in high school, you either have to be really lazy or a complete moron.

^ or a perpetual ditcher. School was a complete bore for me. In retrospect, I should have just attended more but back then, I wanted to be anywhere else but school. It wasn't that I was lazy or a complete moron. I simply thought most of those in school were.

Hell, I have 140 absenses and my average is still 80%. |

If you can't get straight A's in high school, you either have to be really lazy or a complete moron. Uh, no. ![]() It depends on how challenging your classes are. My school's honors/AP/IB classes are very hard, only 2-3 people could actually get A's in the class. In some classes, like the notoriously difficult teachers for Calculus BC and APUSH, there are no A's AT ALL and only 1 or 2 B's. If those honors/AP/IB students to take regular classes, I am pretty sure that they can get straight A's. I find your conjecture a little bit offensive to those who are taking extremely challenging courses at high school. ![]() |

The only course in my case would be philosophy because our teacher is also a prof at the university of Toronto. But yes, you CAN get A's in high school. |

I think its easy to get straight A's at school regardless of how hard the classes are. I go to Bronx HS of Science and take AP's and all (8 classes total), and I have straight A's. My average is around a 95.
The trick is in the strategy. School is part learning and part lying. When you don't know something, cheat. Its not like its bad, I just think of it as training to get along in difficult situations in the real world. In a profession, would you admit to not being the best or make yourself seem like the best? |

hey, im going to high school next year, and so do you think that doing IB/Tech/Performing Arts Acadamy/Badminton{spring} is to much?
![]() and yeah I think it is possible to get straight A's if you are very orginized and study smart...or if you have cruddy teachers that dont really care if you pass or fail. ![]() |
