So, I'm currently writing an article about bogus school rules and how schools can sometimes be too strict. So far I only have two bogus rules though:
Thanks so much! |

Actually I think the iPod rule is reasonable. In my school, we can have iPods in after school hours. The "vagina" rule at your school...I think it depends on how the girls used the word for. I mean, if it's a anatomy class presentation, saying that word is inevitable.
The stupidest rule ever at my school would be cell phones. I think there is a need to it, but not INSIDE the classroom. I think they should be allowed during lunch time. |

And at least you can have iPods on campus, I have to ditch mine in the bottom of my bag and pray it doesn't fall out during the day. |

Banning iPods reasonable? Give me ONE reasonable excuse. That's unbelievable. I don't go anywhere without my music.
One stupid rule at my school - we can't have coffee in class. Sometimes after working on a project the entire night and getting little to no sleep, I NEED a coffee. I'm not a damn grade niner - I think I can be trusted with a coffee in class. |

Ahhhhhh. I could go on forever, but this is just some of it.
![]() - Jewelry for girls: Only one hole in each ear, gold studs only. Plain gold/silver watches. No necklaces, rings, bracelets, anklets, etc. - Hair for girls: No unnatural hair colors. No braids. No highlights. No chunky (emo) bangs. Hair has to be parted in the middle, not over to the side (again, the emoish look). Say God's name in vain? Either automatic suspension or 15 demerits. Get caught cursing? Automatic suspension. Late for school? You get chewed out in the office. Forget to bring your Bible to chapel? DEATH. ![]() No sitting on the floor. No Ipods. No cellphones. No personal contact... which includes holding hands or hugging. Guys and girls cant sit at the same table at lunch or chapel. And if you forget to bring a lunch, and dont have the $6 to buy one, you get to charge a YUMMY peanut butter and jelly sandwich and water. So instead of just letting you charge a normal lunch, which is fast food, you get to pay them $6 for a crappy homeade sandwich. God I've had that happen so many times. There's not very many rules we can break with clothing, since we wear uniforms. Polos must be long enough to hit the elbow, no shorter. Must be tucked in at all times... cant be pulled out, even if its still tucked in. Skirts must touch the ground, when bent down on your knees. Must wear correct knee highs and penny loafers. Backpacks must be the kind from the school uniform shop. No "unnatural" looking purses - must be normal colors. LMAO. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank goodness this is my last year. |

kimmytree, at first I reading your post and I was like... dear God, I would slit my wrists... but you obviously go to a religious school. Is it a private school? Do you pay tuition for it... or rather do your parents?

Hahah yeah, I've almost come to the point before where I've actually considered doing that. But yes, It's a Christian private school. I'm a Junior... and I've been there since 6th grade. It's approx. $10k a year for both me and my sister. After recent events with the school, my parents have decided to send us elsewhere. Not because of their rules, but just stupid crap that's been going on. And they're freaking tired of financially struggling to provide us with a better education... when in return we're not recieving one.

The stupidest rule ever at my school would be cell phones. I think there is a need to it, but not INSIDE the classroom. I think they should be allowed during lunch time. I have the same rule. No cell phones anywhere or it's confiscated. Our ipod rule is reasonable, we can have it anywhere and listen to it anywhere. It's just the teacher's consent in classes. But one stupid rule in my school is that we can't carry our bookbags around school. It has to be in our locker. But we can use totes and purses. |

That was like my school since I went to a Christian private school too for 3 years. Now I'm at a public high school...biggest change ever. Anyway, dances--if 2 couples are caught freaking (mind you, I got a public hs with 3200+ kids) then the lights are turned on, if 5 couples are caught freaking then the entire dance is cancelled, no refunds. This happened to our Winterball. :d That's it really... |

QUOTE TEN GRAND?!??? That's more than what university's gonna cost me per year. Yeah. ![]() Its around 5k per kid... so 10k for both of us. My parents really struggle sending me and my sister... we're by no means wealthy. But the funny thing is, most of the kids there are. So there's always BMW's all over the freaking parking lot, and 5th graders running around with their little Coach purses. It gets kinda depressing though, when other students in conversation run their mouths like money grows on trees. And the #%#& school charges $6 a day for lunch, so everyone claims how easy it is to spot out the "poorer kids". Hah I guess I'm one of them, since I take my lunch. ![]() |

Not being able to wear hats, have phones, iPods, etc. has always been a rule at my school.
Nowadays if you're in the hall without a pass and get caught you get a $120-150 ticket. |

no unatural hair colors. no piercings of any kinds exept ears. butttt, we can't have spacers.
![]() we can't wear hats. we can't have holes above out knees. we can't have tank tops or spaghetti strapped shirts. no school dances. no jewelry in pe. you can't wear flip flops. we can't have wallet chains. we can't have trenchcoats. we can't have umbrellas. we can't have fishnet tights. we can't have baggy clothes. we can't write on our hands/arms or clothes. if we do, we get sent to iss. we can't have shorts/skirts unless they're to the knee. because apparently all these things distract learning. ![]() ![]() ![]() plus, no ipods, cellphones, ect. anywhere. if notes are found, they are read outloud to the class. eh. we used to have to purchase clear bookbags so they could see what we had. now they just do locker/bookbag/purse checks alot. |

If your parents can hardly afford it, why are you going there? Mostly to keep us out of our local middle school. It's really bad. I went there in 6th grade, and it was terrible. But now since next year my sister will be in high school, there's really no reason for us to be there. Our local high school is actually a pretty good school. Not being able to wear hats, have phones, iPods, etc. has always been a rule at my school. Nowadays if you're in the hall without a pass and get caught you get a $120-150 ticket. WHAT? Are you kidding me? $120 for not having a hall pass? ![]() |

I went to a public high school where we were pretty much allowed to do whatever. Compared to some of the responses..the rules at my high school are slack.
We were allowed to have cell phones, but they must be turned off/switch to vibrate during class time. No hats in formal assemblies as a sign of respect. No smoking anywhere other than The Pit (place near student parking lot). Cheating on tests result in zero/suspension/kick out of school. No MP3/iPod during class. No entertainment stuff during class. No racist/rude comments to others. No profanity during class. Wear clothes that aren't provocative (but girls still get away with wearing low cut tops and mini mini skirts). As for the university that I go to...it's just common sense stuff =S |

You know what rule I never got??? No chewing gum. Everyone does it anyways.
Also, at my school we can't use the bathroom during the first or last ten minutes of class. They're allowed to let us go in the middle though, when teachers are lecturing and actually teaching students. ![]() |

Here's some stupid ones for you;;
1. NO HATS. Not after school, not before school. You can't even CARRY them around. If they're seen, they're taken. 2. No Spaghetti Straps. They're to "showy". 3. No myspace. Understandable, but myspace doesn't REALLY hurt anyone. 4. No VAMPIREFREAKS. Understandable, BUT IT DOES NOT HURT ANYONE!! 5. No talk of homosexuals, or homosexual remarks, or homosexual anything. This also includes Bisexuals. 6. No MP3 players, cell phones, or anything electronic, unless you get permission. Although, everyone sneaks in ipods, cell phones, and such. 7. No gum. But that's okay, i hate gum. 8. No backpacks until last period. 9. No BAGS to help you carry around books, and binders, and all that heavy stuff. And when i say 'bags', i mean stuff smaller that totes. The only 'bag' you're allowed to have, is a purse, and you still can't carry your books in their [even if it is big enough], because then it's considered a 'bookbag'! My school is lame, period. That's about it for now. I'm sure they'll come up with another one soon enough. Oh, and it's a middle school;; Swift Creek Middle School. Florida. |
