I wildly associate members with avatar/sig over anything else. Someone who's been around forever can change their username and I'll never notice as long as their avatar or signature stays the same.

So yeah, that's the first thing I notice/remember about people, after that I start to remember silly things such as first names and usernames - and as anyone in the chat knows, I'm TERRIBLE with first name/screenname association. pinch.gif

Usernames and presence, as I don't have avatars and signatures turned on and don't bother to pay attention to custom titles. Sometimes I get used to fonts that people use and get confused when more than one person use the same font.

I've made my settings to not show the ava or the sig so they can't help me.

By their usernames, I suppose. I don't have signatures showing right now, so sometimes also by avatar.

Every now and then I disable avatars and signatures and sometimes forget to make them visible for a few days, so I try to not rely too much on those. At the light of that, I would say it's easier for me to remember posting styles; despite this method isn't 100% accurate at all.

Otherwise I go by usernames. But you kiddos change usernames more than you change your underwear. whistling.gif

Posting style, which is why I recognize many people who change their usernames, before looking at their username history. That, and font. Some people rarely, if ever change their font. Anna and Sammi are like that, although both have a pretty dinstinctive posting style and 'voice', if you will so I believe I'd recognize them regardless. Same with James.

I'll remember av's too though. For some reason I freaked out a tad when Suzzette changed her avatar from the one that had "brownsugar" on the t-shirt.

Agreed. I'm a visual person, so thats how someone catches my eye. Also, as Anna mentioned, the users presence and font also helps me keep people straight.

There've been times when people who had been here for months, kept the same avatar, and then changed it and BAM; I had no idea who they were. I'd have to think reeeeeeeally hard to figure out who that person was, because I'm so much of a member<--->avatar memorizerthingyizer.
