8th Grade Prom, Did you have one? How did you plan it? Options

My school's planning an 8th grade prom, and I'm on the committee. I was just wondering,
how do you plan it?
What type of music should we play?
When should it end?

Well, I would imagine it would be like the regular prom...with younger people...

Well I guess it's not exactly an 8th grade PROM, per say. More like an 8th grade graduation party that's semi-formal and not as trashy as the normal ones. I think it's officially called 8th grade graduation...

OH! Well we had ours at a hotel. All our family was invited and we had a DJ and we basically rented one of those big hotel conference rooms. We had the place till midnight. Just make sure you guys get a DJ who plays good music

Haha! I remember when we had a little 8th grade graduation thing. I was like "This is sooo stupid" and then we had a dumb litte dance for just the 8th graders (because all of other dances were 5-8). Now I'll be actually graduating next year... I'll feel so lost... I'll probably want to go back to 8th grade. haha.

We're having a dance at the end of the year for 8th grade promotion. It's semi-formal, I think. Our school's so ghetto we're doing it down at the rec center. I think it's going to be lame, actually.. I've seen pictures of past ones.. They looked.. boring.

Anyway, I have a dance on student council (so that means she's also in the dance committee). I hear they're gonna play a lot of classics and slow songs. And just for the heck of it, throw in some really popular rap songs. But we still have months so that'll change. I hear they can't play rap songs because they don't want people to grind.. AT A FORMAL DANCE. But it was just last year (and years before) that was really formal. I think this year they might twist it so they can add the overly-requested popular rap/mainstream/MTV music. :(

we're also gonna have a non-formal one that's half pool party, half dance. I know for sure they're gonna take requests. I'm betting you the requests will be mainstream music, so yeeeea..

I remember my eight grade prom. Well, all I know is. Please please please, be sure to NOT play the Cha Cha slide. It would be really cool if you could set up a theme. Perhaps do a Hollywood theme? Lay out a red carpet for the students to walk down and snap their pictures! Make them feel like celebrities. I know I would've loved my prom if they had a theme. Make sure there's good food, lots of desserts. As for ending time...my prom ended at 9 but I felt like partying more. But still, for the safety of students--10.

we never had dances in middle school, haha. 8th grade prom sounds interesting. make it fun i guess and don't play too many slow/songs either. play whatever they request. :D yeah

I think my 8th grade dance was themed like... A night in NYC or a night in Paris. Something like that. Semi-Formal dance. It was at my school and the cafeteria had like beverages and various foods such as cookies and was turned into this like outdoor night cafe thing. It was pretty chill I guess. Somehow they had these fake streetlights too. I forget what they did. Then in the gym there was karaoke and ping-pong going on and like a lounge with couches for people who were mad bored. Then in the auditorium (The seats weren't built into it the ground at my middle school) was the dance area with a DJ on the stage.

Meh, nothing that fancy. I think it ended at like 10:30. Maybe 11. I remember there being a policy of no limos. It was considered unfair because some people couldn't afford it and they didn't want kids getting upset.

HA in my middle school days till now its a custom to play that song everydance.lol its always 7&8graders in opposite side competeing who does it the best when the song plays haha.

8th grade prom I remember mine..memories

our theme was "Untouchable Memories" it was silver,purple, and green. Candle floats in each table or a boquet of flowers[fake one is necessary more affordable] fog maker, arch balloons of the color around the dance floor. Hm. that's all i remember.

the other middle school when i was in 8th grade has same but different color, but w/ professional photographer and more fancier. theme was "Stars don't shine forever, but a Memories last forever" .. im not sure but it something like that was the theme

Well I would have to say Im only in 9th grade now,but 8th grade was one of the best school years of my life,We had a prom and It was sooo fun...
