Well, in my school, we are doing pre-registrations for next year's classes already. So what are your plans for the next school year?

Junior Year
-English 11 Honors
-AP Calculus AB
-AP Biology
-Anatomy/Physiology Honors
-Spanish 3
-AP U.S. History (or maybe just regular U.S. History, in my school, APUSH is hell.)
-Medical Core (for career certification)

Tests to register:
-SAT subject tests: Biology, Chinese
-SAT Reasoning test
-AP tests: Calculus AB, Biology, U.S. History

If you are a senior, what colleges are you going to apply for?

In conclusion, this topic asks you your plans for your next school year, it could be anything...like schedules, tests, colleges, etc.

Eeehh.. Freshman year.
  • English 1/2 Honors
  • Mandarin 1/2
  • Biology Honors
  • Geometry I 1/2 Honors
  • Athletic Theory (Tennis)
  • Health and Safety/Pathways to College and Career
Eh, I might have to go into general English if the school doesen't bother caring for my teacher reccomedation. And I'm only taking Mandarin because I can get help at home. POSSIBLY re-taking Algebra instead of Geometry if I don't pass the PSR.

If I can't get into Biology or Mandarin, I'd have to take Guitar, Printmaking, or Piano. Not very beneficial to me, ey?

GOOD!

Don't even think about it! AP Gov makes you want to kill babies... I swear! All I want to do is maintain my B in that class. Biggest mistake ever, especially since I'm apathetic towards politics. But even if you did like politics, this class'll torture you, especially if you don't have block scheduling at your school. It's honestly a chapter a day (like a billion pages long) with a quiz/test every other day. At my school, AP Gov is possibly one of the harder AP classes, besides APUSH, which I hear is 10x worse... guess who's NOT taking that?

Well it seriously depends on the school. AP Biology is actually the hardest AP class at my school which I happen to be in, AP Chem and AP Physics are the easiest, or so I heard. If you go to other schools though, it's quite the opposite. AP Bio here is so ridiculous though. We basically have 6 chapters tests, and each chapter ranges from 20-40 pages. The teacher doesn't teach, there's no curve, and there are 2 A's in my class...both of which belong to the valedictorians in running. All the juniors have C's and yeah...we do one chapter a day too. I heard AP Gov here wasn't that bad, but I never liked politics and I have enough AP's.

YAY GO IB PEOPLE! dance.gif

Okay, so anyway, if all goes well:

IB English HL
IB Spanish SL
IB History of the Americas HL
IB Physics HL
IB Drama HL ( _unsure.gif oro.gif)
IB Math SL
P.E. )9KFJDKL;SFJDSFDSAFO;AS hammer.gif)

The fact that I have to take P.E. is not cool. CA requires two years of physical education, but WTH mayn, I don't need it.

Well, I'm changing schools for the next school year... so I'm guessing I have to wait till this school year is over to transfer my records? _unsure.gif

Anyways, I'll be a senior in public school for the first time in 7 years... coming from a private school... I have no clue what to expect. XD.gif

After looking at the courses the school offers, I think I've kinda gotten an idea on what I want to take. Thankfully they have block schedule!

1st semester - Pre Calc honors / 2nd - Calculus honors
1st - Biology II honors / 2nd - AP Biology
1st - English IV honors (i have to have a 4th year of Eng. in something)
1/2 - Economics honors (required)
1/2 - Life management (required)

I guess I'll take the Bio II and Ap, and the Calculus to get me ready for college next year... I think I want to major in either nursing or pre-med (probably nursing). Techinically, all I need to take for a honors/college prep diploma is .5 credits in life management, .5 credits in economics, and 1 credit in english. So should I just take the easy route, and graduate early? Or take tons of extras... would it be worth it?

^ IB = International Baccalaureate. IB classes are like AP classes, but there's a different cirriculum and instead of taking the AP test, we take the IB test. Unlike AP, though, it's a lot less available at schools than AP

All of the classes in my school are honors. There are no regular classes to take. pinch.gif
The only ones I get to choose are Art/Music, PE and certain electives because it'll be my sophomore year.

But I'm definitely taking:
Chemistry 1
Chemistry Lab 1
Science Research 3 (I think.)
Math B 2 (Math 5)
Spanish 5
American History 1 (I think.)
English 3

I want to take Art and Dance, Basketball, or Team Sports, but it's not very likely that I'll get those classes. pinch.gif

It sucks that you have to take PE for two years. ;[ I had to take it this year with a bunch of Freshman in First Period. It sucked.

Dang, have fun in IB Math. LOL I'm not taking it because I suck at math so I'm going for AP Stats and then IB Math Studies in Senior Year (which is basically a joke). ;D

Well, English in NYC goes up to 8.
Spanish goes up to 6 or 8, I think. I took 1 and 2 in middle school, 3 last term, and I'm currently taking 4, which is a sophomore class..
Spanish 5 is generally junior year Spanish, but I took Spanish early, so that's what I'll be taking as a sophomore.

And Chem is required as a sophomore. Freshman year, Bio is required. Then sophomore year is Chem. And junior year is Physics.

I am either doing certificate or IB, but I am still deciding.

In my school, APUSH is the hardest AP class while biology is the easiest, but if I am in IB, I have to take APUSH and IB Bio.

Physics in 11th? The highest my current school goes is Chemistry honors... hahah thats why I'm changing schools for next year.

So everyone in your area generally takes courses like that? Thats unusual... but awesome. thumbsup.gif

*high five* I remember being a sophomore and getting scheduled for IB, I already had a vague idea of what it'd be like. Now, as a junior watching the sophomores get scheduled, we like to tell them they'll be signing in blood. victory.gif No, but srsly, Julia, it'll be worth it.

Aaaand Peggy, I believe it'll be worth it if you're willing to work hard. I've met plenty of people who are just doing certificate, but whatever you choose, think ahead. Some colleges will only take either AP or IB, so if you're going to go with one, go all-out.

IB Math Studies is easier than just IB math.
My friend took it and said it's like Geometry and Algebra 2.

I don't even know if I am going to work hard for IB because my schedule is filled with AP.

You don't have IB Math Studies at your school? :[ I'm sorrrry....

It took me a loooong while to choose between IB Cert. and IB Diploma. Hopefully it will be worth it, but I still have some mixed feelings. Several people say it's not worth it (the actual IB Seniors right now) but maybe they'll say otherwise when they actually graduate. But thanks :DD I think I might actually enjoy it (besides the work and all) because all my friends are doing Diploma anyway. Both my older brother and sister went through IB Diploma when they were in high school, and they said it was alright...so maybe I'll be okay too. XD

Peggy, I've always thought that if IB is offered to you, why not take it, ya know? If you're gonna work through AP so hard, why not just IB? x]
