I'd like to know what your personal belief is when it comes to capital punishment. Would your opinion be swayed if you had a family member convicted and sentenced to execution? How about if you had two family members who were convicted and sentenced to execution but only one was guilty of murder. How would your opinions be shaped differently than they are now? Or have you been affected by this law?
www.nodeathpenalty.org claims that the death penalty is above all, racist and punishes people (specifically blacks) for being poor. Do you think that being poor gives you an excuse to kill another man? If you answer no then do you think that killing another man gives you the right to execute the murder? Do you think that's ethical? www.prodeathpenalty.com claims if we don't speak for the victims no one will. This site states that the government is right to have the power to execute a convicted murderer. Oh yes, I'm sure there are a billion topics like this. However, views change with time. This isn't meant to be a debate. |

Im against the death penalty
eye for an eye doesnt solve anything The way I see it is that captial punishment is not justice, how do we justify killing someone to show that killing is bad It doesnt make sense first off not everyone convicted is guilty, so you risk taking the life of someone who is innocent killing a convicted person will not make the family of the victim feel any better and it certainly wont bring their lost loved one back It is revenge and that is wrong, furthermore it is murder We cant just decide that murder for murder is okay, either murder is completely wrong or its not Life in prision is torture enough if the person is truly guilty, in prision they will spend the rest of their life thinking about what they did, the death penalty would actually be the easy way out for someone deserving of it Some people may think that it costs us more money to keep convicts in prision for life, but in actuality giving them the death sentence costs more |

I've never been for the Death Penalty, so having a family member up for so would just further my belief that it's murder. Murder, murder, murder. No matter who they are, rich, black, white, middle class, purple, it's an unncessary crime to produce "justice".
And really now, if executions were done publically on television, what're the chances the death penalty would still be so legal? |

Would the death penalty be legal if it was televised or would the country's morality be completely down the tubes? We have all kinds of extremely graphic movies that portray much worse than anything related to capital punishment. Remember how Saddam's death was televised and splayed all over YouTube? (Splayed, I don't think that's a word...) People were scampering to see that footage. Would they do the same if it were a monthly occurrence? |

Well, in the movies, I think what makes it "okay" is fact that we know that it's "entertainment" and not a real-life filming.
However, if monthly real-life executions were to be televised, I doubt (and deeply hope) that the morals of this nation have sunk that low that we'd accept whole-heartedly. |

I'm definately against the death penalty.
A normal, sane person doesnt go out and kill or rape people. There's obviously something seriously wrong with people who do... so how is killing them the answer? They should still be punished, but not by death. Hah, that reminds me. We were talking about the death penalty in history class the other day, and my teacher went on and on about he thinks people who are given the death penalty deserve to SUFFER. He thinks a murderer deserves to be killed and tortured in the worst way humanly possible. Thats just sick... but alot of people think like that. ![]() |

^ Maybe he was saying that if someone killed someone and the person gets the death penalty, it doesn't do us any good? In fact it makes the situation worse?
I don't know though. ------ With the death penalty, I'm in between. In some cases, it should be used. In other cases, it shouldn't. It should really matter if there were some intention or not. ------ 1. It depends on whether they had any intentions to do it. 2. If two were convicted and sentenced but one was guilty, then that guilty person would be executed and the other shouldn't. 3. No. I was on my way though. 4. Not at all. |

Remember to answer these questions in your post:

Well if they did a REALLY bad thing, then I'd maybe still be for it, because they broke the law and killed someone on purpose. They should face all the consequences because they deserve it for [whatever they did that was severe]. Or have you been affected by this law? Never, but if I were in this situation, and someone [family member I guess] was in this, I would probably listen to what they would have to say, and seek for the truth. Idk. :( |
