...I can never count how many times I've asked my teacher that, and half the time we do, half the time we don't.

I remember wayyyyy back in middle and elementary school, I pretty much detested working in groups that I didn't get to choose because I was always purposely stuck with the person/people who lagged and watched while I did all the work. Now, thank God, I feel like even in groups that I don't get to choose, the work is evenly spread.

I actually prefer working alone. I tend to get rather bossy.

I would only ask that in classes that I have friends in.
If I don't have friends in that class, I would rather want to work alone or the teacher chooses a group for everyone because I don't want to worry about whose group to join. It feels awkward.

Since my classes are mostly honors classes, I am fine with working with anyone, so I have no problem with the teacher choosing a group. But in those regular classes, I hate it because working with people who won't cooperate or slack too much just sucks.

i completely agree with you. i also hate it when i`m in a class with people i hate. then if you can`t pick your groups, you usually have to be in a group with one of them. it annoys the hell out of me.

Well, with choosing groups, there's one problem - in real life you don't get to choose your group. You work with the people you're hired with and that's that.

I like working by myself since my teachers torture us by picking the worse people to work with you. Besides, I like being independent. Its a] faster b] easier c] no awkward moments.

I like myself. And I like working by myself. In groups, I always end up doing the work.

I like working alone 453534543545324 times more. I usually end up doing most of the work, actually. And if I work with friends, we lag because well, we're friends..

Same here!

I want things done perfectly. I'm a perfectionist and not a slacker. So if somebody else slacks off in the group, they'll know that I'll do their work for them because I want a good grade. Damn teachers and their so-called "group grades". mad.gif What kind of messed up system is that?! _dry.gif Even if I work with a group of my friends, who wouldn't slack off, I know we'll end up goofing off half the time and nothing would get done...

So easy solution? Work by myself. I get all the credit for all the hard work I put in. There's nobody to blame and nobody to complain about but myself. It makes life easier.

I'd rather work by myself and not in groups. Whenever we have friends in a class, it's natural to want to work with them because it'll be more fun. The downside to that is that sometimes you might goof off too much and not do the amount of work you need in order to get a good grade on the project.

Sometimes it's actually better to have assigned groups. Assuming you don't get assigned a slacker (ergh), you can work better because you don't know the other people's working habits and want to make sure the project's a success.

LOL we still do thiss, it's a pain cuz we don't want ot be in a group with people we don't like, so we like BEG our teacher too but she doesn't budge, dumb lady. But I'd rather work both eays, alone/group, even though people think I can do all the work which irks me. They ask me what to do when they don't freaking pay attention, stupids.

I sometimes hate groupwork, sometimes don't mind it...but I hate it when the prof. chooses them because of my university classes, I don't usually know my group...and I've noticed that I 75% of the time get people who don't give a shit. Grr.

I prefer working by myself too. I also end up doing most of the work in groups, and then they just copy it. And then I feel bad if I get answers wrong or am not positive of what i'm doing. cry.gif

I really extremely hate working with people on Powerpoint assignments. Because, we'll split up the slides and 95% of the time their slides look like crap that they did in 2 seconds, and the colors don't match. And I'm picky with my powerpoint slides so it drives me insane! And then, I want to re-do theirs, and it just doesn't go over well.

This year is bad, because the classes that DO often require you to be in groups, I have NO friends in, and not really anyone I like either.

Before, I used to hate teaming up because I'd usually end up doing all the work, and the other person would get credit for it. Or, on big team projects, some people weren't reliable at all, or they didn't do work up to my expectations. I mean, I always felt like I could have done a better job by myself.

I prefer working in groups. I can tell other people to do my work. eyebrowes.gif Haha! It really depends on what kind of work we're doing. =)

I remember last semester, I hated everyone in my Health class, so I always worked alone. I had my own ideas, and I didn't want anyone else to mess it up. Haha.

My classes this semester, though, aren't that bad. I actually like working with the people in a lot of my classes. But, I still have some projects where I prefer to work alone.

I work better in groups than I do alone, generally speaking, because there are other people in the group relying on me. However, in high school, I remember I would sometimes get stuck with people who didn't do shit. I'd always bring it up with the teacher and they'd get lower scores, so it didn't bother me as much anymore. But uhhmm yeah, as you work your way up through school (in terms of grade level), it gets better (for the most part).
