Well, I think grammar mistakes in speaking are inevitable.
I fall victim of saying words like "You was" or "He don't" all the time because I tend to mix up singular and plural when I am talking. Especially in an unprepared speech when I am nervous, my grammar is really screwed up.

At least I will try to speak in proper grammar during formal interviews, etc.

How about you, do you speak in proper grammar?

Wasn't there a topic like this already?

I try to talk in proper grammar. But, alas, the grammar part of my brain is quite lazy.

Yeah, all the time. Just today, my counsellor praised my good grammar (she asked me "How are you?" and I replied with "I'm doing well", whereas most people would say "I'm doing good"). I have a serious pet peeve with well/good.

I speak with proper grammar about 90% of the time. It's during the times that I'm talking really fast (which isn't often) that I might screw up.

Thats really annoying. The whole do you act white thing. Lame. Anyways, fortunately for me, I go to a predominantly white all girls private boarding school. Yeah, I know. Anyways, I always speak in proper grammar. Everyone at my school does. However, funnily enough, I always have, ever since I was young. Maybe its due to the fact that I've always attentended Proper British Schools where grammar and proper english is prime.

I dont know. I think it's probably half and half. I dont try to speak in proper grammar but it kind of just happens. I do use slang all the time tho. But if i hear someone speaking and they say I seen this person he they was im like ohh hmm, that sounds weird. If I get nervous im not really paying attention to anything i say. I guess it doesnt really matter as long as the other person gets your point, unless it is something professional like an interview or something like that.

FOR SERIOUSLY. I've corrected an English teacher on it before, and the class stared at me as if I was the incorrect one. I have my little made-up words, so it's not like I have flawless grammar, but I am constantly correcting incorrect sentences. "Where you at?" ZOMFG, that's a terrible one.

^ Haha. I do that, too. I use "like" way more than I would like to, but it's a habit now. I try to speak in proper grammar, though. It doesn't sound right when you don't. It annoys me when people don't. Makes me want to smack them and lock them in an English classroom.

Dude, grammar is tolly gay. Actually. I started using proper grammar to try and piss my cousin off. I guess you really can't understand sarcasm through an IM. Haha. But it has stuck with me ever since. It's more challenging, and I really just hate it when people use all these stupid little made up words that are just a fad. lol. <- Gay. BRB, guys. Gotta ask my rents if its okay to go to my friends for the killer sleepover. Cha.

Pfft. People need to grow up and learn the English language like it's suppost to be learn-ed. :D

Oh, the worse one I can think of is.....Iono.

Actually, I would say it depends on the language I am using.

I speak in catalan and spanish on a daily basis, and in english rather often as of lately (=P). While I do commit gramatical errors in all three languages, I think the ones done while speaking in the first two languages are "worse" because they're quite likely due to being careless. On the contrary, when I talk in english, mistakes are more likely to be caused by lack of practice and/or knowledge.

Overall, I try to speak as correctly as I can, depending on the conditions under which the verbal communication may occur.

I like grammar, but I am making a lot of mistakes. I usually try to correct other's mistakes though. When talking....Thats a totally different story. Sometimes I talk like: "SHIT SON, OYU BEST BE GETTING ME SOME MONEY. I BUSTA GAT." But you know.....Thats talking so it's completely different. But I also make fun of people that don't know about their bad grammar usage like: "I don't got no mayonnaise."
I find that to be immensely funny.

&btw. I hate latin. It's so stupid. =]

I just speak what's on my mind. Sometimes, using improper grammar is the best way to get your message across.

I know someone who tries very hard to use proper grammar, but doesn't hold himself to the standard that he holds others... *sigh* He's very hypocritical when judging others, yet they still hired him for staff.... rolleyes.gif

I have to agree with this, though you spelled "counselor" wrong. tongue.gif
But it's okay.

I have this pet peeve with "well/good" too, but I think "should/could of" is a bigger pet peeve for me.

IT'S "SHOULD HAVE" and "COULD HAVE" AND IT SHOULD BE FOLLOWED WITH A PAST PARTICIPLE.

Who the heck puts a preposition after "should/could"? _dry.gif

Also, this phrase is a pet peeve for me too, for example, "I ate already."
It's "I have eaten already." I have always thought that the past participle is being used less and less in speaking.

Actually, it's both. Counselor and counsellor. =)

Oh, and if this is about spoken grammar, then "should of" and "should have" shouldn't be too big of a problem, since words tend to get dropped or mushed together when spoken quickly. I think it's more of a written pet peeve for me. Another written one that gets me is "alot". "Alot" is two words, people. A. Lot.

When it comes to typing, grammar is a big thing but speaking? I often talk in slang with the "like" in every sentence mentioned. LOL. But I still have the proper grammar along there.
