I've been doing a lot of thinking on my beliefs lately and I can't force myself not to believe that a God doesn't exist. I see myself as being a Christian in terms of what the dictionary says the meaning is which is - "A belief in God" but I don't follow the religion it's self. I don't attend church, I don't depend upon the Bible for all my answers to my problems and I don't talk about him 24/7 in everyday life. I do read my Bible and I do try to live the life he intended for me and I do have Faith in him. But my Question is on your own views.

Can you follow Christ, love God totally, try do best in life and live by his laws most of the time, still sin and follow Christ? And my other Question is can you follow Christ, try to live life the way he intended for you but not have the title of Christian and not be connected to a religion? Afterall, God didn't create the religion but for us to just love him and follow his word. What are your views on this?

It seems whenever I decide I want to believe in God everyone always asks - "Oh your a Christian" and they assume that since I don't follow a religion that I am not close to God. Why?

Tell me your thoughts on these matters =]

OF COURSE. Christians aren't perfect, and everyone sins.

In my opinion it's sort of a yes. But why believe in God and not be glad to have the title as a Christian? but again there are other things that come with that question.
hmmm.

You can be a Christian and sin. You're still a person. People sin. No way of getting around that. The point is that you put forth an effort to follow God and His laws.

Secondly, yes you can live life as a Christian should with out being a Christian, but it's not going to help you get into Heaven. You're doing it all for the wrong reasons. The reason that Christians should live as they do is to glorify God. If you weren't a Christian, but were living like one, then you would be doing it for selfish reasons, probably to further yourself as a person.

Cool?

You wont believe this, but I see people who follow God as you do more of a Christian than some that go to Church all the time. Some "Christians" go to church every Sunday, they read the bible, ect. but they are doing it for all the wrong reasons. Some people want to be praised because they feel that they should be since they are Christians. But in fact, that is the entire opposite point of Christianity. The religions isn't just about screaming "I'M A CHRISTIAN!" to the entire world. It is about following God, as you said earlier. Everyone sins, no matter what their beliefs are. Just because someone is considered as a Christian doesn't make them any better or more-perfect than you are. As for your other question, I'm not really sure. I have actually been wondering about it myself so I'm hoping I can get some answers. =]

I think you kinda misunderstood me but thanks for your input on what you believe. Here's what I believe, I believe that God never intended us to have a religion, he didn't create that but to love him and follow his Word, the humans created the different religions. But what I'm trying to say is why do I need the title of being a "Christian" why can't I just live the life God intended, read my Bible and try to be the person he wants me to be without having that Title? I am not saying I'm living the life or any other person of a Christian but not allowing others to know that I am not a Christian or that I'm doing this because I fear Hell. That's not my reason at all, my reason is because I feel I don't need a label or title in order to follow God and how a lot of Christians seem to think I do.

Good point!

I wasn't really saying that Christians don't sin what I was told was that if your a Christian and you realize something is a sin yet continue to commit that sin because you don't believe it to be wrong or you just comitt it by accident, you know repeated sin, if you do that your not a true Christian...so my question is, is that true?

My views is that I can follow God or anyone else for that matter and do everything a Christian does to worship God without the label. So, if I do just as any Christian would do, which is worship and love God then why is the title so important to have? As for sinning, I believe if you accepted Jesus as your savior that you are saved no matter how many sins you comitt more than once because that was the whole point of Jesus dying on the cross, to save you of your sins.

I believe that in order to be in Communion with Christ, you must be in Communion with the Roman Catholic Church, since it is the Church that Jesus Christ Himself started.

everyone sins. no one is perfect. God, somehow, still loves and forgives us. i don't understand why he would love us so much, but he does.

my faith in God is sometimes all that keeps me going. when i'm down and out, i know i am not alone. i have seen and heard of too many miracles to think anything is accidental, or that any life could occur without a higher power. God is my rock.

I do also find it hard to believe that there isn't a higher power but I also think to myself if God is all powerful then how come he doesn't show himself like he did through Jesus long ago? Why can't he just pop up and say - "Here I am..."

here's what i believe:

there will be a judgement day someday. Jesus WILL come again. but i believe that he doesn't want to come now, when there's so many more people that could be saved before he comes. that might sound really televangelistic, but honestly, that's what i think. if he revealed himself, all the people who didn't believe in him until then would be doomed. yes, i believe in heaven and hell. and i think it's a very serious thing.

I pretty much believe in God, I also believe in Heaven and Hell too but I don't really take it as a serious thing, I don't know I just believe I want to love God because I love him and the fact of what he did was so loving, he is the one that started the human race and I should honor him for that. I do not fear Hell though, I do fear God though. I do believe in Judgement Day but I believe that's the day you die and you are judged and punished that day to determine where you'll be going. I know in the Bible it does say Jesus is suppose to come again but the thing is it most likely wont happen in my lifetime. I just don't understand I guess...I don't understand how someone so powerful can't just show up to someone who doesn't believe if he's in fact that powerful ermm.gif

No, I am not. He didn't start the church, human beings started that. He started a fellowship where he taught of the Lord and had followers but he didn't "actually" have a church that he started.

Guys.

I'm sorry, but we have about a trillion threads about God. The decision has been made to narrow them down to just a few of the longer ones, given the amount of overlap between them.

With that in mind:
