What type of makeup would you put on to hide it?

I hate that. I usually try cooled spoons on my eyes or similar. I remember reading up on it years ago. Spoons placed in the freezer for about an hour help reduce the swollen-look. Then regular makeup... it goes away within an hour, so.

I hate that with passion.... sucks that you're crying, and then to have to look horrible when you wake up just makes it worse.

Definately cool it first. and then slap on some concealer and a lighter coloured loose powder over it.

Cold water. If you have the time, get ice cubes and lay down and let them melt.

Concealer is a good thing to have around. Loose powder is good too after you do the concealer.

Put on dark red, or red, or a dark color lipstick. It will draw the attention to your lips instead of your eyes.

I hate that. What I usually do is get a cold rag
and wipe under my eyes for about 10 minutes
then regular make-up should cover up everything.

Yeah, use something cool. Concealer should do the trick, but if you use a heavy base use a lighter foundation.

So, you've been crying last night &you woke up with swollen eyes...

What type of makeup would you put on to hide it?

So I know this is probably not the first idea that comes to mind when you're crying and whatnot, but try not to rub your eyes a lot while trying to wipe away your tears. Use tissues in a dabbing motion, if possible. But this is the reason why my eyes get puffy. Also, wash your face with cold water (it'll make you feel better) that night, and try to put ice cubes over your eyes that night if you can too. This way, you won't wake up and be like "oh sh!t". Doing these things the night before minimize the effects of the swelling when you wake up in the morning.

As for makeup, I'd even out my skin tone (your eyes are probably blotchy) with some concealer and use a minimal amount of makeup on my eyes (probably just mascara). I'd draw the attention away from my eyes by blending in a healthy shade of blush and a swab of lip gloss/stick (that is a more intense shade than you'll normally wear). I guess if your eyes are really that bad, you can lightly blend in some white eyeshadow to reduce the redness. pinch.gif

Nothing T_T

Usually, I just put a cold towel over my eyes when I sleep (after I've been crying), and it reduces the puffiness when morning comes. ^_^

I just wash my face with cold water and then put on a damp cloth on my eyes for a bit . But I dont wear make-up so my eyes can get normal sized again faster.

and why would not wearing make up reduce the swelling of the eyes?

Foundation and Concealer help.

Also, put on some really pretty eyeshadow. It will draw attention away from the puffiness.

actually, you should stay away from any loose powders, and put on minimal eye makeup, because it could cause even more irritation and make your eyes look worse.

Actually there's no irritation involved with puffy eyes after crying. Don't use loose powder if you have puffy eyes from allergies, but the puffiness comes from blood flow and from the facial muscular effort that crying generates, and water retention around the eyes.

Don't put the ice or cold spoons directly on your face though, it's usually better to put a layer of ziplock bag or saran wrap inbetween. Or if you want, wrap a couple ice cubes in a face towel and put on your eyes.

What i use is i dot foundation onto lower eyelid. Pat it so it smears and then cover it up with powder it makes your eyes appear less puffy, sometimes a little but of smudged eyeliner works as well.

There's this thing called "Eye Bright" from Benefit cosmetics.

This is the description on the Sephora website:

"Look falling-down tired? Come alive with eye bright, our soft pink brightening stick for tired eyes. A quick swipe in each corner and blend. You'll look wide awake and ready for action. Keep it handy for afternoon touch-ups."

It might not cover everything, but it'd help along with concealer and ice before that.

I'd usually try to bring down the puffiness first.
Probably set a cool washcloth over my eyes for 10-15 minutes.

Concealer, Foundation, and Powder should do the trick for the under eye stuff.

Perhaps use a lighter tone in eyeshadow then you usually would do, so your eye doesn't wind up looking like a big bruise.
