What is FTP and why do I need it ? I was looking at this tutorial for Wordpress, and it said to log in to my FTP acount to make a theme for the blogs on my website.

When you get a site and hosting they give you an ftp acount. FTP is a way of uploading your files onto your site. You have to get an ftp client, set it up, and then log into your ftp account with the provided info. Then you cna start uploading your site/wordpress.
Search google and go through old topics etc. There are many on this. |

okay so basically the hosting site should give me a FTP site, just wanna make sure I'm understanding?

Your host should give you an FTP account (address, username, password, port number if necessary) but you can use any FTP program or browser to log-in and upload files.
