I'm just wondering if there are any JROTC cadets roaming around the forums; if there are any, what branch are you in and what's your rank and position?

I'm in Navy JROTC and I'm a Chief Petty Officer (E-7) and I'm the Training Officer.

The JROTC kids at my school are hardcore. I remember Freshman year I used to call them "pickles" when they wore they're uniforms, but since then, I'm so used to it it doesn't even matter (and using that nickname is quite immature). But yes, they are hardcore. If anyone ever threatened to take away the program, there would mass riots. Seriously.

i know some people in JROTC. what is the point of it? some kid told me the point is to become a better citizen or something, but they just dress up and stand in straight lines. [i dont mean to sound rude or anything]

The JROTC kids at my school are really close; and it keeps them fit and teaches them a lot of discipline. Oh oh oh, and it looks good on a college application. And apparently, it's quite fun.

I remember wanting to join sophomore year so I could become some sort of commander, I forget the exact title. But it's the person who gets to say the directions. ("Left! Left! Left right left!") There was one really funny one that made his "team" go in circles or write his name out. laugh.gif

I wanted to join JROTC next year for 9th grade, but it looked very strict. My friend's brother is in JROTC and he says it's really strict, yes, but is also fun at the same time. During our 8th grade orientation for 9th grade, the JROTC performed a bit for us and it did look like fun. So I might actually end up taking it. I'm just not good with directions given from someone though. =\
