Hey, i've been working on redecorating my room an asian theme and one of the main ideas are chinese or any kinds of lanterns. Due to the lack of asian stores in my neighborhood i was wondering if by any chance anyone knows how to make a decent one? Not the easy kiddy ones were you cut here cut there put it on some twine and here you go.
basically ones like these ![]() ![]() if you know of any online resources please tell me =] |

there are stores that sell those. I got a chinese lantern from The Oriental Store in my mall for 10 dollars. It's a globe one with the koi pond design. A bulb costs 10 bucks too if you wanna buy one with it, but I'm sure you'd rather get a spare bulb from your house and just connect it. And if it makes you feel better the Oriental Store has those lanterns there too. Oh and one more thing..the Oriental Store I went in was...in Rhode Island when I went there for 3 days. =O

Ohh, those are pretty! [This post is sort of pointless as it doesn't help you, but i'm too opinionated for my own good] When i was in elementary school, and in sac [i think thats what it was called.. it was basically an all-day-detention for the "bad kids" that i was afraid of at the time] because i didn't go on a field trip, we got to make the kiddy ones. It was fabulously fun. Since i was in like 2nd grade me and a guy in there pretended we were lighting eachother on fire. O.O
Not as mean as it sounds. |

If you still haven't found anything, you could probably construct the bottom lanterns by painting on vellum (you can get it at pretty much craft stores), building a wood frame and painting it black, then sticking a light bulb inside.
![]() Oh frick, I didn't notice this hasn't been posted in a while.. Sorry. ![]() |
