Or are you indifferent to their perception of you? And you don't care what you do, how you do it, why you do it, so long as you please yourself or for another reason? And why?
(Doesn't have to be about certain individuals, e.g. parents, boyfriend or girlfriend, a complete stranger, just in general.) |

It depends on how important I value that person's approval of me. If it's people online, I don't care what they think of me. Obviously teachers, parents and people close to me will be treated better.

It really depends on what it is and the person I suppose. Most of the time I'm really there to help and please other people than myself. I much rather have the people around me happier before myself.

If the person has an impact in my life, of course I will do as much as I can do make them happy. But like the others said, it depends who the person is and what I'm trying to do. Online, I don't really give a flying hoot though.

Trying to please others, rather than not to please yourself can have some impacts as they collide. I try not to please people so much that they would start to depend on me on their every whim and needs. Some people also tend to forget that pleasing people can lead to taking advantage of you which I find to be the worst of them all. But Pleasing people to those you know that may need a helping a hand or maybe someone that you know is a good person at heart shouldn't be a problem.

I try to please everyone, even online. Which may sounds rather pathetic, but I do want to be myself online, and "myself" means really caring about what others think of me. However, how much I try to please others really depends on who they are. The closer they are, the harder I try.

I am somewhat in the middle. If I am affected by a certain comment, it's because I probably thought it was true. If not, then I don't let the comment stay in my mind. In fact, I hate pleasing anyone.

I'll admit it, I'm a people pleaser. Not to the extent that I'm fake, but I'll make extreme sacrifices and go out of my way to make people happy. It's not even really that I care so much about what they think about me - I honestly don't know why I do it. I've always said this, but if I've got $20 cash on me and that's all I've got, if someone else is wondering how they're gonna be able to afford the drive home, I'll hand it over without a question. In any case, I'm not a suck up, I'm not two-faced, I have no real reason for being the way I am.. I just have something constantly nagging at me to do it.

I am horrible about trying to please other people. More than anything I live to please my parents and lately it seems nearly impossible because the better I get the stricter they become...they dont appreciate how good I am and it really bothers me. Im trying not to care what other people think so much anymore though.

Hmmm... Yea, I could say that I do try to please people. Not really because they like me, but because I try to make them happy. I don't want people being angry or being sad or whatever, when I know I can put them in a better mood by doing whatever makes them happy. Not sexually of course! lol. Plus, I like to help others. :]
Although, if it's something that will harm another person, emotionally or physically, or it involves some sort of drama (ew, drama), or if it's against what I believe in, then I won't do it. I usually tell people how I feel about it if they ask me to do it. Wow, the first sentence was kind of like a run-on. o__O" |

Generally I try to remain true to myself but I won't act a total b*tch to people whose opinions I don't care for. I do try to make my friends happy though along with other people I love.

I'm always myself around everyone. I really don't care what other people think of me. Somehow that makes people like me, ha.
As far as trying to please people in the since of trying to make sure they're having a good time and being there for them, then yeah, I always try to please everyone that way. |

No. I have never been the kind of person who does anything JUST to please other people. I only do homework if i want to and have time to do it well so that it benefits me, and i regularly hand in work late.
To be frank, I dont care a whole lot what other people think. It's nice if they're pleased, but not essential to my own happiness or progression. If someone is satisfied by what I've done, or it helps them, great. If not, whatever |

I don't think I go out of my way to try to please someone, unless there's an unusual good reason to it.
However, I do believe everybody deserves a certain degree of respect, regardless of their position and/or their relationship with me, so possibly what I do consider basic courtesy can be seen as trying to please to someone else's eyes. To me paying for my boss' coffee is exactly the same than giving 10 euros to a homeless person, in a sense. I am not particularly concerned about personal opinions, too. It's all a matter of treating people as, well, fellow people to me. |
