i want to get my lip pierced. about how much will it cost to have it done. yup. anyways, how much does it hurt? it will obviously hurt a good bit, getting a large needle stuck though my lip. but if it is major pain i might want to re-think it. ive had my ear lobes pierced four times & my cartlidge pierced twice so id say i take mild pain well. also, regular places dont do them. am i correct. i dont want a stud. i want a hoop on the right side. also, if i take it out, will it leave a large hole in my lip? kthanx.

The cost depends on where you go. Just make sure you go to an "up to code" place. It also depends on what type of lip piercing you want. There are lots of different types and depending on what kind you get the cost and pain will be different. I had a labret and there wasn't much pain. I guess it just depends on how high of a tolerence of pain you have.

If you don't know much about the proccess of piercing or aftercare, etc. I would suggest that you go to a few places where you live and ask them for prices and how they'd actual pierce you because different places might do it different ways.

If you want a hoop you have to wait until it heals and then replace the stud. They won't put in a hoop after they pierce it.

I pierced mine myself.. I also peirced my cartlidge myself, and I think the cartlidge hurt a lot more than the lip. The pain is not as bad as you think. It takes about a week or so to heal.. When you take it out its not like a huge hole.. its just like..... a dot. lol idk how to describe it.

here's a picture of Josh Dies without his lip ring in.. so you can see what it looks like.

alsoooo.. If you get bored of the ring you can always just change it to a stud if you want. so yeah..

I live in West Vancouver, and in BC piercings usually run from 75$-150$ depending on the jewellary you choose.

I take pain really well (I have about 25 piercings) and I thought the lip piercing was definitely one of the worst (but not that painful though) peircings i've had on my face. I've had (not all the same time) my nose, tounge, eyebrow and both sides of my lips pierced. It just hurts more because you use your mouth a lot. Eating, Talking, drinking etc.

Also keep in mind that your lip does swell and that is where most of the pain comes from.

Only tattoo and piercing places will pierce your lip (and I would definitely only go to) to get my lip pierced.

Hope this helps:)

Wow. I thought it would be way worse than that. Sweet.
I also figured it would take alot longer to heal. Thanks for the picture. It help's alot.
I am just curious, when you did yours, did you use a kit or did you just put an earing through your lip?

haha I just took a safety pin and shoved it through. (urh.. well actually I didnt "shove" it through. It took me like 20mins to actually peirce it. I went in little by little.. I couldnt just shove it in at once >.<)
then I took out the pin out and put in a stud earing untill I could get lip rings/studs. (buying them before hand would have been a lot smarter on my part.. but oh well)
I didn't even sterilize the safety pin, so I was lucky it didnt get infected.

I've always sort of wanted to get my lip pierce, i think it looks really cool on most ppl, but I play the flute, and sooo i don't think it would work out very well i would have to keep taking it out, by the way,

how bad does the cartilage one hurt?

I've had my ears lobes pierce, so like how bad is it compared to that?

I play the saxophone but I'm quitting next semester.
The cartilage hurts pretty bad, I'll have to admit. I almost cried & I take to pain very well. It was funny when I got mine pierced though because the lady dropped the back of the stud down my shirt & she was feeling around down there trying to find it. So I just went to Hot Topic, which was really close, & got a new pair of earings that actually had a back on them.

Cartilage didn't hurt that bad. I did it myself. With a needle. I would assume it would hurt much more with a gun.

I want to pierce my lip, but my parents wouldnt let me.... I've pierced my own cartilage 3 times, and my nose once, but those I could hide. I take out the nose one whenever I'm around them, and my ears are hidden by my hair... but I dont think I could get away with piercing my lip.

as for how much the piercing hurts... I stuck the safety pin through all the way once and it didnt hurt too much... got a lot of funny looks when I did that. I was sorta in the middle of class.
And I had to take it out for the reasons mentioned above.
So it was completely pointless.
but I was bored and felt like piercing something.

i have officially convinced everyone in my family that i'm piercing my lip whether they agree with it or not. even though my mom said she'd rip it out. __;
i'm thinking of getting ice &/or that numbing stuff[i forget the name of it]& putting on my lip & then putting an earing or something through it since i'm way to young to get it done at a tat shop in my state.

The only thing I suggest is you get somewhere clean and up to the codes around wherever you live. It doesn't hurt much from what I hear and the cost is going to matter on where you go. I think if you really want to get it done the best thing to do is go somewhere and really get it done, don't do it yourself, all you need is to get your lip infected. pinch.gif I suggest just talking to your parents about it and get them more use to the idea until they finally get in to it, and then take you themselves. If you show them that your not going to respect them then your screwed from the start.

eh. true. i've already asked them & they looked at me funny. it's weird. my family are rednecks & i'm the one who rebels & tries to be different. they all hate me for that i think. i live in a hicktown, basically. i've only seen two tat shops around here & neither of them looked very clean.

cartilage doesn't hurt at all. (thats me)
shit like that doesn't really bother me though.
Getting a needle stuck through your ear, lip, or nose doesnt hurt that bad.
Just close your eyes or hold someones hand. xD It'll take some pain away.
Plus think happy thoughts. lol
