ok so i just finished the book!!
i think it was a pretty good ending...i mean i'm glad that the series is finally finished.
it does leave you hanging but it doesnt seem to matter whether Violet, Klaus, Sunny, and Beatrice (which is the name inferred at the end of Kit's baby girl) ever come to "the world"...
i mean if they died-- atleast they got to find out some stuff about their parents...read what the parents wrote, and see Count Olaf die...

questions i have:
1. How did Count Olaf have an injury on his chest?
2. Don't you find it weird how they never mention the actual name of the Baudelaire parents?

I read this awhile ago so I'm a little bit fuzzy, but...

1. Wasn't Olaf injured in the stomach (or maybe it was the chest, I forget) by the hook? He got hit on Ishmael's orders...or something like that o.o

2. That is weird, but I don't think knowing Mr. Baudelaire's first name would have really added to the story...but isn't Mrs. Baudelaire's first name 'Beatrice'?

All in all, The End was rather disappointing. I expected it to all come together - there are just SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. The Beatrice Letters were nice filler, but I think it would have been better if it had been released AFTER The End. At least for me :). But all of ASOUE is great so yay, Snicket.

...Although the Quagmire Triplets need to have their own series.

As does Beatrice (the young one.)

...And there could be an exposé. I can see it now: THE BAUDELAIRES. LIFE AFTER THE ISLAND.

...And Mr. Snicket needs to be tracked down, put into a straitjacket, and interrogated.

*daydreams*

1. yea i was thinking it was because of the harpoon gun.. but i thought it hit his stomach not his chest..

2. =O her name is beatrice?! ok so Lemony snicket was in love with beatrice.. but she perished. lemony was kit's brother..and the baby girl beatrice.. was named after a dead relative but violet, klaus, and sunny didn't know any beatrice. wait so they didn't know their mother's name? or is mrs.baudelaire's name not beatrice? (I never read it anywhere that it was)

you know how the author dedicates a book to someone/people... well have you ever read who Lemony dedicated his books to? Beatrice. Thats how i know he was in love with her...

hmm. I'll have to read the Beatrice Letters.. and those are some nice ideas you have about new books. lol

I think Lemony Snicket will write more books.. or.. write them in his real name. Or come up with another false name for another series.

i forget what happens to the Quagmires. Do they die or does it just say that they`re around?

As far as I recall, they are somewhere floating in the sky with Hector. But something in my brain is nagging me that (Kit, I think) told the Baudelaires that the hot air balloon was popped and...they aren't flying anymore? Oh I really have no idea haha.

And I was under the impression that the Baudelaire orphans' mother was named Beatrice, and Lemony Snicket was in love with her? Right? I must re-read.

The new Beatrice Baudelaire should really have her own series. I mean, come on Lemony, you can't do this to us. Leave us hanging here, I mean. *sadface*

Actually, I believe the names are mentioned. I think the father's first name is Bernard, but I don't remember other things...

A Series of Unfortunate Events is actually full of allusions and complicated sorts of things... See Wikipedia for it all. You'll be amazed.
