It looks nice. I suggest feathering the part where the dark & light mix, to soften out the image. You could take out the black altogether, I'm sure it would look a lot nicer, too.

^ Yeah, I don't know if I like how sharp the white edges look against the black. Also, maybe hide your blogrings? I dunno.. the page goes down too far.. or add more entries.
 It looks.. odd.

The banner doesn't look to appealing to me. The whole thing is just too default.

i agree. the banner is just like text and a brush. but if simple what you like, thats all that matters.
