umm well, it depends what you're specifically dressing up for. (sorry, are you a guy or girl? XD.gif your profile doesn't say)

an easy way to look more dressed up for both guys and girls is to wear a button up shirt.

girls

guys

make sure it's ironed nicely.

Get a semi-dressy top. It doesn't have to be over the top, but like what angel revelation said, a button up shirt works just fine, paired with a simple pencil skirt. Look at magazines; that might help. [:

you could always grab a friend you admire for their fashion sense and head down to the mall. :)

i find magazines have styles that i'd never really come close to wearing / i don't really draw my 'inspiration' and ideas from there either.

k so the best thing is probably just to get a friend/older sister's help... try on a whole lotta things. k so i'd have at least 2 pairs of jeans... since they go with everything. then one pair of cargo pants, (white or khaki or dark green would go with a lot of tops in my opinion) a few more pants hahaa, a few polos in diff. colors/stripes, a few tees and maybe 1 or 2 hoodies/sweaters. then... accessorize. it really makes a difference. :) necklaces/bracelets, etc. hair ---> headbands? they're so cute. and shoes... i really like converse shoes.

layering the right clothes is a really cute look.

if you have plain tshirts, you can play it up by adding accessories, such as necklaces, earrings, headbands, and other stuff.

  1. Accessorize! You'll be surprised how much they affect the outfit. *Belts can be manipulated in multiple ways, like to add color or to define a slim waistline.
  2. Wear boots or shoes with a heel. I'm not talking anything extravagant, but the boots definitely give you a more sophisicated look than flip flops. Ballet flats are definitely in this season also, try something like this. Best of all? Flats/boots paired with jeans match with everything!
  3. If you don't want to wear a skirt but still want to dress up, try black pants or these. Just match them with a nice top & you've got this semi-formal look already!
  4. Vests are in! Outfits like this one can be paired with jeans for a classy appeal.
  5. Gauchos. Yeah, so that was like last season's trend or whatever, but they are extremely comfortable and make you look nice all at once! Here's a simple outfit. I wear brown gauchos with a tank top match with a denim jacket.
So those are just some tips, but here's some general rules. If you want to wear jeans, you can, but match it with a more dressy top. If you want to wear jeans and a regular solid colored shirt, be sure to accessorize with belts and earrings! Usually, if you just want to put on jeans and a tshirt, you can get away with it by just adding the right accessories and shoes. Hope that helps?

Yes Yes, button up shirts do great things. Then comes color, and the ability to match!

^ Wow. In that case, we have some serious fashion issues.
First off, black and browm do not match together, nor do red and orange.

I like to pick a color and then wear a neutral color underneath or on top of it.
Neutrals: white, gray, black.

Never wear dark colors with dark colors.
So just pick a nice color that makes you shine & match it with a neutral color happy.gif

In my opinion, NEVER wear polka dots with stripes. NEVER.
And I don't enjoy a vertical striped shirt with a horizontal striped jacket over it, either.

I love cropped plaid shorts. They're classy but cute!
They also go great with almost anything!

Vertical stripes tend to make you look fat, too. I saw this girl in my school the other day wearing vertically striped blue and green pastel pants, and it looked DISGUSTING. sick.gif

well what is your taste in colors?
what would you go for?
dark or light.
sometimes just a nice t-shirt with a logo on it [hollister,ae, abercrombie etc.]
will go perfectly with a pare of regular light jeans.
mostly everyone can pull that off.
plus sweatshirts may not be as attractive on girls than guys.
just go with a zip-up.
