if I hear my parents say "Harvard" one more time, I'm gonna have to stab something.

Who else goes through this every day? Having their parents yell at them for B's?

My mom doesn't do that. In fact, she doesn't want me to go out of the state for College, but her boyfriend does. So it's not my parents I hear, it's my mom's bf. OMFGZ NO U GOT A B, NO. RAISE THOSE GODDAMN GRADES UP. U NEVA GONNA GET INTO A GOOD COLLEGE LIEK THAT.
Um. No. I don't give a crap yet. I'm not even in High School. :( Making me all stressed out for something that's not gonna happen for another 5-6 years.

My mom just yelled at me for getting S's, which is basically the equivalent of B's..
She was like, "You're never gonna get into a good college! You'll never amount to anything!"

That's just what some parents are like. Just ignore them. Tell them that you're trying your best. It's the first marking period anyways, so it doesn't go on your permanent record.

Just remember that they only want what's best for you.

yea you have to understand that

if you're trying your hardest, you should get A's

just remember if you work hard now (first three years in high school), life will be easy in the future...

My parents don't yell at me per se, but they "encourage" me. (Pfft.)
"Honey, you did well, but why'd your grade in English go down? It was a B+ last time, it's a B- this time. And what happened to Science? Good job, but better luck next time."
I either A) glare at them until they finally get it; B) brush it off because I know I'm working hard or C) give them my planner and kindly ask them to do every single piece of homework listed in there by tomorrow.
That may or may not work for you depending on how strict your parents are, but it works on mine. =/

Have you watched the Asian Parents video on YouTube?
Is that kinda what you are referring to?
Even though I have "asian" parents, they don't overreact.
They just want to know that I tried my best.

OMG yeshhh. First marking period teachers always grade harsher to "motivate you" and my parents always freak out. This marking period my highest grade was a 96 (lowest was an 85) and they just went ballistic. I hate the pressure. My mom freaks out over little test grades and my dad's the one who goes off about averages and college and SATs.

Uhmm, I do have to say that I don't know how you feel. Not to brag at all, and really I'm not a bragger, but I've always had A's, so I've never really had the problem of my parents yelling at me about grades & stuff.

EXACTLY.
My mom (asian) has always said, "As long as you tried your best, that's all that counts."

My mom gets mad if I get B's, but it's only because she knows that I can do better, and I do, too. Anything less than an A means I'm slacking off, not being myself, which is true. It's hard to blame her to use that kind of grading system, when it actually works.

I sound a little arrogant, but why not demand perfection if you're capable of doing it?

my parents are too busy to really care about my grades. my parent's are 100% asian. but really. this how they're like:"above average and average are ok, but below average and failing are not ok". and that's about it.

Maybe its becuase they don't want you to be a failure. Deal With it. If they are going to easy on you, Step up. If they are going to hard on you, Tell to chill out. You control whether or not you hear "Harvard" again
