Okay so I have a VERY close friend, and she LOVES attention.

We're in 8th grade, and she's pretty much obsessed with guys. Recently, she's started telling stories about a boy that she met at the library randomly. She told us (me & our other friends) that they've been on & off, because he's also got another girl in his life.

And just a few days ago, she's started going on about how she's had sex with him. By the way, our other friends don't believe a word of it. She's making such a big deal about it, like it's really true.

Really, I want to believe her, but I can't put it in myself to believe it. I mean, it may sound mean and I don't want it to be offensive to her, but our other friends and even I don't think that she's the kind of girl that a guy would instantly go for, you know?

I really don't know what to do. Should I talk to her and ask her about it? Should I just let her go on about the lies? If I DO ask her, then would she be mad at me? If I DON'T ask her, will she just be hurting herself?

I just simply need help and good old advice.

i don't know why your friend would brag about that, because being an 8th grader who has sex with a guy who already has a girlfriend isn't exactly a great thing.

since she's your friend and you do know her well, if you're sure she's bluffing, i wouldn't give her any attention on the matter period. the more big a deal you make out of it, the happier she'll be. if you act super uninterested she'll get the message and quit it eventually. if it really bugs you though, you should tell her to shut up about her lies... nobody likes an attention whore.

then again, you should ask seriously if she's not lying, because if she isn't, you really need to help her out of this messed situation.

disgusting.
i know a girl just like that. she loves attention, loves guys, ...and lies like a madwoman.

two years ago when she was in 9th grade and i was in 8th, she told everyone she got pregnant, then she 'got an abortion' after.

you could be like me and tell her, "i don't give a damn if you had sex with whoever his face is unless you've got aids, and then i still wouldn't care because it's your own damn fault and i can't take care of your consequences" but chances are, you wouldn't do that.

i dont' see why you're wondering if you should or shouldn't ask her.
if you're so curious, just go ahead and be blunt, but don't give her the "OMG RLY" reaction she wants.

Laugh in her face and tell her she's disgusting. Oh, and ask to meet the guy.

She'll stop after that.

She might be lieing for attention. Don't make any kind of assumptions unless you know for sure. I think she's disgusting, but that's my opinion. But whether you believe her or not is up to you.

I mean, you say she's not the most attractive girl. I'm sure any man, who is older and has a girlfriend, and cheats on his girlfriend with an 8th grader is fu*king disgusting. The whole situation is disgusting. Tell your friend to get some self esteem and stop putting herself down like that by doing those bad things.

If she really is ugly... she probably just lied for attention to feel "cool".

You should deffinitly talk to her, it should smarten her up. And yes, if you don't talk to her it would eventually hurt her. The same has happened to me almost. mellow.gif

I did ask her multiple times to meet the guy. I've asked to talk to him a few times as well. She hasn't shown me a picture, given me a number, and hides her phone everytime I joke around about calling him--i haven't looked through her phone since a few days before the whole incident started & i haven't seen his number in there before.

I'm sorry, I can't help you. You're too nice to confront her, so what do you want us to tell you?

Dunno, but all the similar cases and ignoring tips sure helped.

That's actually a really good way to confront her without hurting her feelings.

That's not confronting her - that's ignoring her. Confronting means something else.

^ Right sorry, I get things mixed up sometimes.

Confronting...You're right. I'm actually scared to lose our friendship if I confront her. She gets hurt easily.

You should talk to her, sure.
Though I doubt she'll ever admit if she were lying.
But, you know how they say, innocent until proven guilty.
Why can you not believe her?
What are your proofs, ask yourself those questions, see what you get :)

i have a friend like that, but i barely talk or see her anymore.

if you're really close, then ask her.
if she gets mad, it's not your fault.
you're the one that's concerned and she's the one that's making herself look stupid IF she is lying.

if she's not, then you should advise her to pick a better way to have a better relationship.

being an easy girl isn't the right answer.
yeah, you'll get the guy's attention, but he'll treat you like shit.
cause THERE'S NO RESPECT in that relationship, or whatever they have.

wonder why their "relationship" is on and off?
maybe that's exactly the reason.

if your friend is looking for love, then she's looking in the wrong places.
if she's looking for physical love, then maybe she should just work in a stripclub, which works for attention also.

Sounds pretty skanky to me, very middle school-ish. Who cares if she'd be mad at you for asking if that actually happened? You don't need liars as friends.
