So i just dropped my mp3 player ( a samsung yp-z5) into this tiny bucket of water (a dog dish if you will). Am i basically screwed or is there something i can do to save it?

It might work if you leave it for a while.
Don't try turning it on. Wait until it dries. Use a blowdryer or something to dry it off. |

You could bring it to where you bought it and they might help you fix it. And if it still doesn't work use the warranty

^ I'm not sure about mp3 players, but most cell phone warrenties don't cover water-damages.
Water to a cell phone basically kills it, so I'm guessing it's the same thing for a mp3 player. |

Take it apart, let it dry out, and don't turn it on until it dries completely (best to wait a few days). It might end up working.
