I always dress casually, and I seem to get enough attention from the guys.

However, those girls with skimpy super short skirts and shorts always get looks from the boys.

How do you think you should dress? Should there be a limit to what girls wear? Because it seems like girls get more revealing by the generation. Maybe in the future, we'll end up wearing bikinis to school!

But dressing skimpy helps you get attention & thus makes you popular.

What's right? What's wrong?

Think about it & help me find an answer.

-------edit--
I'm not trying to set a limit; just trying to find opinions :]

its pretty stupid what girls do these days just to get guys to look at them. If you get attention dressing casually, not reavealing too much, stick too it, dont stoop to their level.

I try to dress fairly conservatively. I don't wear short shorts or skirts. But I still wear regular stuff. Dressing slutty may get attention, but not the kind of attention I want. So I wear what I feel comfortable & stylish in.

I disagree. Sometimes attention-grabbing people are not popular. Or they think that they're popular, but other people think that they're annoying bitches who scream a lot and dress/act like sluts. _smile.gif

I don't know how I should dress. mellow.gif I dunno. I usually wear something like a regular tshirt and jeans and a hoodie. Not super-tight clothes. Just like a tight-ish yet loose skate (really long DC ones) tshirt and regular jeans. I've never worn a skirt before. Never. And I only wear dresses when it's a formal occasion like a wedding or band recital or whatever.

I think there should be a limit on what we should wear because girls are getting sluttier-looking by the minute. I mean, THERE ARE 6-YEAR-OLDS WHO WEAR FREAKING MINISKIRTS. We're influencing the younger generations.

it's pretty much like the story from MEAN GIRLS. the hott pretty skinny girls dress very skin showing [the halloween party] and the boys just want to be horny. you should be who you are b/c changing yourself for someone else to like you won't really work b/c you miss being yourself. if you care that much then maybe you should wear clothes that show slightly a bit more skin

I wear what I like. If you don't like it, screw you. (Hehehe.)

Practically my whole wardrobe is from Old Navy. It's what the most of the kids in my classes wear anyways, so yeah. It's the style I like, so it works.

I don't have many classes with attention-whores, but I mean, there has to be some reason why guys are attracted to complete airheads, right? Haha.

In my opinion, skimpy outifts, do get you attention, but most of the time, not in a way people would generally like. I don't mean to sound cruel or anything, but when I see a girl walking down the street wearing half a top and really short skirts, I think, "Wow, she must be insecure. Skank." _dry.gif JUST. STOP. It's not cool.

I just dress comfortably and according to my mood..

Agreeing with RAWR sock -- Not all girls who dress skimpy end up popular. The majority I know is hated by the school and has fake friends. _smile.gif

Anyway, I really don't care how girls dress. I personally hate having some cleavage showing. I like people to see only what they are allowed to see, no more and no less. A good plus on that is less chances of nipple slips. XD

Ohh, this is a good topic!

I think that clothing does affect society's views on you. If you dress skimpy, you're going to come off as a whore. If you dress conservatively, people are going to think that you're a goody-two-shoes. I tend to be a classy dresser - or at least, try to be, though that is not always the case (rainy days call for hoodies and sweat pants)

If dressing like a whore makes the girl feel good or whatever, then I'd say go for it, but beware of the consequences. I can't tell somebody how to dress, but I can tell them the results. Sure, the girl that dresses like a whore gets the boy's attention, but do the guys really like her for her? Do the guys that date her really like her for her personality? No, generally, that is not the case. Do she really want people to view her as a "whore"? With these questions in mind, it is ultimately up to the person to make the right choice. If you honestly don't care about the image you are projecting to others and guys' intentions for dating you, then go ahead. I honestly have nothing more to say to you. shrug.gif

Personally, that's not the person I'd like to be. I'd rather have a guy like me for my personality & I'd rather have people say, "Yeah, that Irene girl? She's nice."

Let people wear whatever they want. Putting barriers on that is like putting barriers on freedom of expression. Of course, sometimes people go beyond what's considered "normal".. but that's rare, actually.

You're right; it does give off a pre-slutty image of the girl before the guy gets to actually know her.

For some girls, there are a limit. And others of course there isn't. pinch.gif I have a limit, I only really wear jeans and a t-shirts most of the time. I own skirts but I wouldn't go to school and get all over guys and that kind of stuff. I think its a little icky.

I think the school dress codes should be enforced on more than what they are.

i always dressed conservative when i was in school because it wasn't important to me. i always wore jeans and sweatshirts just because that was what i was comfortable in and it was easy to get ready in the morning. but in summer i do dress in kinda revealing clothes. it's not to get attention, it's just what i like to wear. i just dress to be comfortable. i could care less if i get a guy's attention or not. they have to like me for me, and being comfortable is who i am.

I personally feel that girls who ALWAYS wear short, reavealing clothes are being slutty
if they wear them every once in a while, alls good.
I normally wear a few low-cut tops here and there.
and I never wear shorts or skirts..
and yeahh. I guess the skimpier you dress, the more popular you are
[: the world may never know

Yea many guys look at the skimpy girls but noone likes the skimpy girls there just fun to look at =p. Most guys dont want a girl like that because it will make them insecure about there relationship cuz its like the girl is cheating on them with someones eyes(could be worded better)

I like the casual - elegant combination
But then again, that's just me :D
Anyway, I doubt we can stop girls from wearing bikkins on the street, should they choose to do so.
On the other hand, uniforms prevent that from happening at school. They are very unpleasant, though. But sometimes there is no other way?
I mean, I am not talking about standard uniformes such as "THIS SKIRT AND THOSE PANTS". But a school can do something like "You have to wear jeans, and a red-white-pink etc shirt, no short skirts, etc" ?

Speaking of which I find it sooo silly that at our school we have to wear a special type of skirt, and it can be as short as you want it to be if it's the skirt they asked for.
Which I find very very very very hypocritical.
Don't you think?

yeah i agree, i hate those people who wear super short skirts with like, spaghetti straps.
i wear casual clothes. i hate people who try to be popular, they wear fake designer stuff and all =X
and even more than that, i hate how people judge you by what clothing you wear. if you wear gap, your known as the loser. old navy, your a little below average. if you wear abercrombie, your an average/above average. the popular girls wear juicy and have all those slutty skirts with trendy styles and shtt. and i still dont care =p

People judge by looks first 99.9% of the time. It's just one of those things. Your sense of style usually dictates the type of person you are. Seriously. If you see a girl with her boobs and ass hanging out of clothes that are too tight for her... what stereotype would you put her under? And yeah, those girls get a lot of attention from guys - guys that are shallow, that is. It's not worth it.

I'll stay classy and comfortable. happy.gif

Personally I've never seen my clothes really give me a image or affect me. I just see them as something I like to wear and thats it. No one else really puts me in some category by what I wear. And the only time I have is when I got told I dressed like an emo person in some other state. pinch.gif

It goes both ways here. A lot of you are complaining about people being judgemental when you are doing the same thing. Just because someone is comfortable with their body enough to show skin doesn't make them a slut. There is a big difference between the two.

blahh i dont know i always thought it depends on a guy if they want to adore a girl`s body or the girl itself..

i dont think you get popular by the way you dress. its just by how many people know you

the only thing clothes does is attract attention and nothing wrong with that
the only wrong thing is that it just get`s too revealing sometimes lol

I was highly influenced by gaia which
got me into the whole dressing up business.
So I have piles of clothing, some I haven't really tried wearing.
I dress up the way I want to, which gave me a blend of labels,

but I enjoyed expressing myself so it didn't
matter too much what others think.
Most of the people that commented on my looks
are friends that tease me anyways so
I can't really take them too seriously.

It's retarded. I dress how I like. I don't dress slutty of conservative.

Mostly, I'll go for the cute/sophisticated look. I like blazers and belts and button down shirts. But dressed down for school, obviously.
